Debbie and I were in town for a wedding and our 2 day stay here was spectacular in so many ways. The house is old so it might not have all the amenities you're looking for but it exceeds in so many ways. The rooms so comfortable, the outside grounds and view it provides breathtaking. in addition next door is a farm which serves lunch, has a gift shop and you must visit. Each morning at Cromwell House they provide a free breakfast, not just a buffet but order anything from eggs to waffles and pancakes. I especially recommend the blueberry ones(SO GOOD) All in all a great few days there you won't be disappointed. read more

It has been years since I wanted to share feedback about a lodging experience online. I discovered Cromwell Manor Inn on Expedia when I spontaneously decided to spend a weekend at Storm King, just a short drive from the accommodations. I arrived around 8 pm after a long, rainy bus ride from Port Authority. Tory greeted me with the warmest welcome, and I instantly felt at home. He graciously took my bag and personally delivered it to my room, The Windsor, walking me through all the available amenities for my stay. Troy went above and beyond to ensure I had everything I needed before leaving me to the solitude I sought an hour outside the hustle and bustle of the city. The next day, he prepared a beautiful breakfast and assisted me in planning my trip to Storm King. Although I had only booked a two-night stay, on the second day, I had the pleasure of meeting the rest of the Cromwell Manor Inn family, including the wonderful owners. Troy treated me to another delicious breakfast, and I spent the remainder of my day exploring the grounds while witnessing the team joyously decorating the beautiful estate with Christmas decorations. Before heading back to the city, I had lunch next door at Jones Farm, following the Cromwell family's suggestion, and began planning my next stay. As a history buff, I was fascinated by the inn's history, feeling like I had been transported to another time. My room was cozy and warm, impeccably clean and well-preserved. A tour of the grounds revealed that each room was tastefully decorated. I had forgotten how easy it is to travel to the Hudson Valley for a little respite from the Manhattan hustle and bustle. We had a lovely long weekend at the Inn, which we were lucky to book at the very last minute. The building itself is lovely and well cared for, full of period touches. And the location is peaceful and rural but easy enough to drive to Beacon, Newburgh, etc. We stayed in the Cromwell suite which was spacious, had a delightful jacuzzi tub, and the bed was so comfortable! The new owner is a lovely guy...he makes a great breakfast omelette and chocolate chip cookies. we had a great, relaxing time and would come back happily to stay again. read more

We went a little outside our norm for a corporate sales leader meeting and rented the entire Inn for our team to have our meeting and Holiday party. During the planning the owner and staff were quick to communicate and accommodate any requests. Upon arrival we received a tour of the property and each room has a special unique charm. They set up a 75" smart art/tv for our meeting presentations, provided delicious catering (breakfast, lunch and dinner). We were even able to get a breakfast favorite recipe (blueberry french toast)! The parlor was all decked out for Christmas and we had a blast playing games during our White Elephant gift exchange. The staff was on-site and always accessible and helpful. It was a very comfortable homey feeling where you could walk around without your shoes and build a different type of bond with your team than you get from the normal hotel settings. We enjoyed it so much we returned a few months later for a different sales team meeting. With new owners, they asked for feedback and by our second visit had already implemented all of our suggestions. If you've wanted to give the B&B setting a try, you should .... at least once ... and Cromwell Manor Inn is a great choice! Elan and team are great hosts! I was hesitant to stay at the Inn when I found out it was under new ownership. I am so glad to have had the chance to stay. The rooms are clean and spacious. The place is modern while still having hints of colonial Era, which is what drew me to The Cromwell Manor Inn in the first place. The staff and new owners were very pleasant and attentive going above and beyond to make our weekend enjoyable. The grounds were beautiful and well kept. The views were picturesque. I can not wait to go back during the summer months. When looking for a peaceful getaway, the Cromwell Manor Inn is definitely the place to stay. read more

Frankly I appreciate more upscale hotels and the anonymity associated. However the Cromwell Manor is truly like traveling back in time on the old road. Which i can fully appreciate the history of. However, summer time travel comes with heat even in NY and minimal modern air circulation in this home. To be that as it may nothing a cold shower can't temporarily fix. Nevertheless, the craftsmen who built this home should be revered as artisan carpenters. The multi-layer casework of trim and crown within is amazing and shouldn't go without saying how much astounding effort was put into building the manor. Still a ceiling fan would go a long way. Unfortunately, due to COVID-19 breakfast is available within walking distance down the road at a local cafe. read more

A wonderfully delightful B&B experience that should be considered by anyone staying in the Highlands. The rooms are quite spacious and period furnished for this 1820's style mansion but quite modernized and comfortable. The staff and owner are very attentive, conversant and very, very service oriented. Frankly I prefer the relative anonymity of large,luxury hotels but I must admit the the Inn was a trip back in time to when travelers 'along the road' found suitable lodging in homes and with families in a community. The grounds are lovely, the surroundings equally so, the accommodations perfect and the atmosphere of service quite outstanding. read more

Cromwell Manor Inn is amazing. I was a last-minute guest because of airplane cancellations and Troy was an impeccably accommodating host. He showed me all available rooms before I selected one and gave me options that best-suited my needs. Each room is delightfully decorated and quaint with touches of extra care - like bottled water and candy dish. I stayed in two different rooms (at my choice) and both were well-cleaned and without any issues. Also, the grounds are peaceful, scenic, and spacious - vast expanse of lawn and trees and chairs for sitting and gazing. Fireflies at dusk. In the morning, there is a tasty continental breakfast, plus Troy will make something special and more substantive (omletts, pancakes, etc.) I didn't get her name, but the housekeeping lady is also very warm and hospitable. Everyone there works very hard and, I don't know how much they're paid, but definitely deserve a raise. I'm just saying...as a guest, I felt very cared for and appreciated the hospitality. read more

This was the first B&B I've ever stayed in and I totally fell in love with the place! My bf and I came during MLK weekend for a little getaway (FYI they had an amazing deal for one night free during this weekend!). The manor is very homey and clean - believe all the good reviews you've read here, tripadvisor, b&b.com and everywhere else! The innkeeper is extremely sweet and helpful. I was a bit turned off by one review on tripadvisor that showed stinkbugs everywhere, but my room was immaculate! The day my bf and I drove up it was raining and freezing - def not the safest time to travel. I think it was a couple days before there was a snowstorm so everything was becoming an icy hell. The innkeeper called my bf (as the reservations were under his name) to touch basis on the road conditions up there. She told us it was safe and the roads were clear. We were very amazed about that and even more surprised as we drove up there that it was pretty good (and the views were amazing - we're already planning our trip back and what sights to see). As soon as we stepped in, we were greeted and welcomed by friends of the innkeeper (she was out on an errand). We signed in and proceeded to our room - the Canterbury aka the Red Room. This room is situated on the first floor right across the parlor. It has a private bathroom that's extremely private - you might be scratching your head about this but the bathroom was down a long hallway. Also good to note if you're booking a room, some at the inn don't have a private bathroom but there is a "floor bathroom". One of the aspects I loved about our room was the closet (typical girl statement I know) but cool fact is that the closet used to be a telephone booth - there's a bell on the outside that you would ring when you were done with your call to alert other people. Another aspect I loved about the room is the fireplace (they use duraflame logs) and the small seating area. The bed and pillow were extremely comfortable - this means a lot coming from me as I have a memory foam bed & pillows and I'm pretty much spoiled by it. I turn into Goldilocks when it comes to beds and pillows! I can't even sleep on my bf's regular spring mattress bed and we've traveled/stayed at a few hotels where I was constantly tossing and turning cuz the bed/pillows were too soft and the linens were just plain blehhh. The parlor, dining room and kitchen were very cute - I wish I had the option of exploring the other areas of the house/guest house but I believe those rooms were occupado. In the guest kitchen you can find a mini-fridge, water, an instant coffee/hot chocolate machine, and snacks (those peanut butter cookies were amazing!). You can also find in the side cabinet board games (all from my childhood!). The dining room had an amazing view of the backend of the land - it was beautiful. There were outdoor dining areas but unfortunately it was wet (as it had rained earlier) and it was cold (hello - still winter). My bf and I are planning to come back when there is better weather to explore it. The innkeeper advised us that the best times to come back is when the town has a spring festival, so we're planning to come back then or in the fall. Breakfast at the inn was delish. I think that the reviewers who stated that the breakfast was unhealthy or too sweet, were just plain whiney - if you don't like it don't eat it or request something else. Our breakfast started off with a fancy cup of yogurt with granola and piece of strawberries and mangoes. Next we were served waffles topped with banana and pecans, and sausage on the side. We drank tea and water, and also had the option of fresh OJ. I definitely recommend staying at CMI as it was quite delightful, the innkeeper and her family/friends were very helpful and made things homey, and the grounds are just beautiful! ps. My bf and I opted to get in room massages as they work with a local spa area. It was heavenly! If you stay here and wanna splurge definitely get the in-room massages! read more

My bf and I snagged last-minute reservations for Sunday dinner at Blue Hill @ Storm Barns, so we decided to head upstate for the weekend. We were planning on checking out Storm King Art Center Saturday, and we found Cromwell Manor Inn only a short distance away from Storm King. The manor house is at the top of a little hill along the road, and is a gorgeous red brick building with a columned porch complete with matching rocking chairs to chill out on at the front entrance. Next to the house is a wonderful little courtyard replete with a small fairy fountain and wire patio tables and chairs and a grill for cookouts. In the sizeable backyard there is even a hammock for lounging in. Inside the house the proprietor welcomed us, offered us fresh cookies from a display she has available for guests 24/7 (we def had some at 12 am!), and then showed us to our room. We stayed in the Storm King room, which was very classically decorated and had many windows. We also had an en-suite bathroom, very convenient. The proprietor was very nice and suggested several dining spots for us in nearby Newburg. In the morning we were greeted at breakfast with our tables set and our juices poured. Then came a breakfast appetizer of lemon pound cake topped with a coconut salsa. That was followed with a HEAPING plate of veggie frittata, sausage, and fresh fruit! mmm delicious. Another highlight was the inn is adjacent to a small farm called Jones Farm. We stopped by after breakfast to walk off the food, shopped at their produce and goods store, and checked out the animals. A nice little surprise that would amuse people travelling with young children! Room Tip: Some rooms have en-suite bathrooms, some don't. This is the place to go when... ...you want to have a beautiful, yet cozy party. We had my sister's bridal shower here and it was absolutely perfect. The dinning area was nicely decorated in a quaint colonial style and the room opened right up onto the garden patio. Guests all talked and enjoyed themselves, everyone felt completely at home. The brunch was also amazing, delicious quiches, bread salad with feta, tuna with humus and savory madelines. It was one of the most pleasant event experiences I have ever been a part of, I highly recommend. read more

First time visit. Arrived shortly after check in time and there was no one inside the inn to greet me! I walked in and wasn't even sure I was in the right building. I had been traveling for several hours and was anxious to check in to use a bathroom and freshen up before my girlfriend was to arrive. Well that was going to have to wait. I had to go back outside and walk over to ask a young lady where I go to check in. Didn't she or anyone else see my car pull in the driveway? Enter Jennifer. She was cheerful and helpful but the check in process was way too looong. Friend and I get checked in and we settle our bill in the dark kitchen. Why not have guests sit in the front parlor? It's a gorgeous room with large windows and sunlight! It would've been helpful if I was told how to work the a/c in my room. Had no idea to look for a remote. Was hoping to sample some homemade cookies I read about on other reviews but nothing was baking in the ovens that day. Bummer. Instead we were offered overripe fruit. Eventually I was introduced to my room and the long-awaited bathroom. I was in the Windsor. Bath towels surprisingly were far from soft but cheap and scratchy instead! Mattress was very comfortable and a/c was quiet and worked well. Difficult to find channels on TV- many stations unavailable. Clean room. Noise factor: I liked being on the 2nd floor as you are away from the high traffic area where guests check in... the hallway...although voices do travel easily up the staircase since it's all original (and very nice) hardwood floors. Breakfast: A+. Coffee and food very good although waitress was not cheerful either day we were there. It's too bad as that's the first person each AM you see and a smile goes a long way. Housekeeping: A+. Both ladies helpful and both smile too :-) Grounds: Beautiful. Enjoyed reading my book and listening to the nearby rooster crow and the company of "Brew" the innkeeper's dog. Girls getaway package we booked: sure wish we were told/were given the option to get our massages at the inn. It would have added to our overall experience at Cromwell. read more

Loved the house and grounds. We stayed in the Canterbury Suite on the first floor. Beautiful decor. Would have given 4 stars but for the following reasons could not. For over 300.00 a night I would have expected better housekeeping. Towels were worn and frayed on the edges. Floors dusty under the bed. Quilt on bed had small holes and red stains on it. Breakfast was just ok. Could have been so much better by keeping it simple. Could be 5 stars with a little love. read more

This is a very average and overpriced bed and breakfast. The staff is very helpful but can't overcome many issues. The power was out for many hours during our stay and the owner did not provide effective communication or help except for LED lanterns. They need a generator and are apparently too cheap to install. The house has some lovely woodwork and breakfast is tasty, but basics have to be provided before niceties can be appreciated. read more

Beautiful property and mostly decent rooms. We booked this property for our bridal party to stay in during our wedding weekend and to host our rehearsal dinner and farewell brunch. After booking and paying our deposit, the inn owner was completely unresponsive for months at a time and extremely difficult to work with; ultimately she told us that we could not host our wedding events on the property almost 8 months after booking the whole property and trying to plan the events. We decided switch locations to the Caldwell House Bed & Breakfast which was close by for all housing and weekend events and were very happy with our decision. read more

Warm and comfortable atmosphere takes you back to a more genteel time. Breakfast was prepared by a Culinary Institute chef, so the fare was superior to what other inns offer. Arrived on Friday evening on the "Girfriends Getaway Package". Was looking forward to a restful weekend with my college friend. That being said, I specifically requested a QUIET room as I am a very light sleeper and get woken up very easily. My first night at the Inn was a nightmare.. my room was located on the first floor next to the front entrance to the Inn. Needless to say, every time guests came back at night, I was rudely woken up. On top of that, a guest came in around 11pm with her loud children who proceeded to run around the hallway screaming and yelling. I was not pleased to say the least. Didn't I request a QUIET room? On top of that, the room was so incredibly hot (central air did not have a control panel in my room). So.. no sleep for me on the first night. The next day, I spoke to Pam who was kind enough to move me upstairs to a different room (quiet and with its own AC unit, yay!) Much better, thank you. I must admit that I found the overall customer service to be very poor. The waitress who served breakfast in the morning never once cracked a smile... she was simply going through the motions of dropping off food and picking up empty plates. A SMILE would go a long way, really! Also, on the day we arrived.. Jennifer checked us in. She said the owner was away (which was fine) other than the fact that she seemed totally overwhelmed with getting us checked in. She plopped down the bottle of champagne on the table in front of us but never offered to give us glasses. Hmm... should we just drink from the bottle?? Overall it was OK, especially because I actually got some sleep on night #2. I do not recommend this Inn.. not for the prices they charge. read more

We stayed at the Cromwell Manor Inn a while back and were less than impressed with our experience. I had chosen this place based on the reviews and to celebrate a special occasion with my husband. I had booked the Oliver Cromwell Suite which, at that time, cost us close to $400 a night. We normally don't spend that much on a hotel, but wanted to celebrate and decided to go for it. Upon driving onto the grounds of the manor we found a property that appeared to be somewhat run down. We became even more disappointed when we entered our room - the Cromwell suite. It was anything but a suite! It was simply an outdated room with an oversized bathroom (of course, it looked great in the photos on their website). By no means was it worth $400 and I was close to asking for a different room since I was so disappointed. The breakfast we received the next morning was equivalent to a breakfast you would get at a three star hotel. Nothing special and only as much as needed so you would not leave starving. Fortunately, we only booked for one night and couldn't wait to get out of there. In our opinion it is an overpriced place for what they have to offer. read more
