I was referred here by my dentist. My case was a difficult one. I had four impacted teeth and was…read moreof course sedated and asleep the whole time. Thank goodness because I get major anxiety from hearing any dental work being done. Dr. Serlo did a great job! I remember counting backwards and then waking up just as fast. I was given a bunch of gauze and a velcro gel ice pack that wrapped around either side of my head so it was hands free. Even though Dr. Serlo was attending a funeral that weekend, he still called to check up on me and left his personal cell number in case I had any concerns. While my recovery wasn't super quick, and I did end up with an infection which I had to take antibiotics for, I am just thankful I didn't lose any feeling in any part of my mouth considering how close one tooth was to a major nerve. I will admit that I'm a bit of a hypochondriac and came to the office in a panic thinking that my chin was still numb after the anesthesia wore off. But Dr. Serlo checked me out and assured me that I still had full feeling. (He did the pin prick test.) I only had to take Ibuprofen 3's during recovery and was able to manage my pain just as well without the additional prescription painkillers. I never even bothered to get it filled. I was going on vacation shortly after and Dr. Serlo made sure that if I ran into any problems, he would be able to get me in touch with a doctor in the area and let them know of my situation. I had zero issues with billing which is always a plus! NOTE: While my consultations and follow up appointments were done in the Chapel Hill office, my actual surgery was in the Durham office. Both were nice. I took off one star because I wasn't given a syringe to flush the area until I came in a few days after due to an infection. Not sure if that would've made a difference but I thought I would mention it just in case.

Every person I interacted with was professional, kind, and genuinely attentive. After my experiences here, I honestly can't imagine how some of the negative reviews on Yelp reflect this office. Both of my visits have been smooth, efficient, and truly positive. I'm grateful to have found a dental team I can trust.

Two months later I called after not receiving a call about my crown coming in and they said they need me to come in for impressions when they had already done that. Went in and they wanted me to pay again for the appointment for something they had already done. The front desk girl asked the doctor who didn't even do my examine if he had taken impressions and he said no which is correct he didn't it was a female dentist that I had the appointment with. Please be careful with this company and confirm everything being they are out to take advantage of clients to make more money from you. Very unprofessional!

I've moved around a fair bit so I've had 3 different dentists in 3 different states in the past few years. I've now been to Dr. Pyle's office 3 times over the past year and a half and have been pleased with the every experience. I have a fairly unpredictable schedule and often don't get much notice as to when I might have enough time off from work. Ann in the front desk has always been very helpful in trying to squeeze me in when possible, or taking down my info and calling me if a spot does open up. The actual appointments have run very smoothly. There's free parking in the back. I've never had to wait more than a couple minutes in the waiting room, which is great. Both hygienists I've had were friendly and thorough. Dr. Pyle has always been very friendly and informative with me. He didn't spend a ton of time with me but it's because my teeth have been healthy - as somebody in the medical profession, I know that there aren't many ways to say everything looks normal. Both my wife (also a patient of Dr. Pyle) and I were genuinely surprised that another Yelper found him not to have a good bedside manner. I haven't had any major work done on my teeth, just routine exams / cleanings, but my wife did have a procedure and she didn't have any problems with the whole experience.

However he pressured me into having full jaw X-rays despite my concern that I did not want this kind of radiation exposure because of recent medical imaging exposure. Had a real "Dr. is right, take it or leave it" attitude. I would have wanted to research exposure risks (and I have the training to do so) and wait until next visit but he did not want to examine me without the X-rays (something Dr. Pyle always respected). Of course the total exam bill was twice what I was accustomed to paying. I will not be returning.
