I came to Ocala from Chicago with a high standard for daycare, training, and boarding needs for my…read morepup. After visiting multiple facilities and even a few individuals to do "meet & greets", we were thrilled to find the best option for all three needs was with the same team - Procyon. This review is focused specifically on the day training program. Mimi attends DAY TRAINING 2x/week. What has she learned? To SIT and WAIT at the door when it's opened instead of charging through it (picture spilling soda on yourself, the leash slipping out of your hand, her running all the way to the street) - she usually even sits without me asking. To sit in the backseat of the car in her carseat. When I brought her to Procyon she wouldn't ride anywhere but my lap - even when I was driving (yea, I know - not safe). If I tried to use the carseat, she would cry the entire time and jump out of the chair. HEEL - her heel when we walk is much improved - she used to pull like a sled dog! She's more comfortable around strangers from field trips they take. PLACE - critical for us when the doorbell rings. (We're still working on doorbell manners!) She's got a solid "high five!" too, which we use often with strangers because she prefers it to them petting her. It's been a great experience thus far, as have the boarding and daycare. I highly recommend Procyon. PS - Mimi is famous for her "resting sad face"!

The employees are knowledgeable, courteous, and professional. The team is committed to helping you and your dog to understand each other better, thus forming a powerful bond between you and your dog. My dog, Elvis, now behaves appropriately at home, when guests arrive to my home, when we are at other peoples' homes, and when we go out in public. Many of my friends have asked me how my dog became so well behaved so very quickly. And I provide them with Elliott's information at Elite K9 Dog Training school in Plant City, FL. I find it to be the best investment you can make for your dog and yourself.

I love taking her to my son's soccer games at the park because she is the best, most well trained dog there. Trina is the best dog trainer, I trusted her with my baby and not only did she train her but she loved and cared for her too. I could tell just by the way my puppy gets happy when she sees Trina and she even cried when Trina left. I am so happy I sent my puppy to Trina. When I get another puppy I am going to send him or her to Trina too. Thanks Elite Canine Service. Sincerely, Christina, from Long Beach CA

The reason I sought another facility for my pups is that after 15 years with another in town, my dogs appeared desperate to see me upon my return- not just happy, but unusually eager to leave. Because of this, I was very conscious of their demeanor when I picked them up from Red Fern and was pleased when I saw that while they were very happy to see me, they would have been just as happy to stay another day. That told me all I needed to know about Red Fern! This paired with the daily pictures of my babies having a ball, the report card shining light on their best qualities and my own positive experience with all of the staff made it clear that Red Fern is my pups' new home away from home when I am called out of town. If you are considering a boarding, grooming or training facility in Marion County, look no further than Red Fern Pet Lodge!

She is a high energy puppy, so this helps her burn off some of that energy. She comes home and sleeps good at night. I receive a report card and photos of her from Enrichment Day Care, which I just love. The team there knew Athena the moment we walked through the door after her first stay. While dropping her off, we witnessed many other dogs being dropped off, all just as happy and excited to be there as Athena. That says a lot about the place when the dogs are happy to be there. It's the best thing we could ever do to help Athena socialize and gain the confidence she needs to grow into a well rounded dog.

We explained everything that had happened and provided the veterinary team with all the details about his condition. When we arrived, my dog was able to walk normally, including from the parking lot into the clinic. After examining him, the veterinary team gave him an injection for pain relief. They then told us they wanted to sedate him because he was difficult to keep still during a spinal examination and X-rays. We also informed them that our dog had consumed a large amount of water before the examination. We were instructed to return around 4:00 p.m. to pick him up. When we returned, our dog's condition had changed dramatically. He was completely paralyzed, and his eyes were severely swollen and bright red. I immediately asked the veterinary assistant why he looked like that. I was told that he had become stressed during the sedation and X-ray process. The following morning, at approximately 9:00 a.m., we returned to the clinic and asked to speak with Dr. Southwell. He also questioned why our dog's eyes were so red, even though I had already raised that concern. He administered fluids and a Diazepam injection before sending us home. Around 11:00 p.m. that same night, our dog's condition continued to worsen, so we rushed him to the University of Florida Emergency Veterinary Hospital. The emergency veterinarian examined him and expressed serious concern about his neurological condition. What I cannot understand is why CareVet at Skylark never informed us that something serious may have occurred during the sedation or recovery process, or that his condition required immediate emergency neurological evaluation. Instead, we only learned how critical his condition was after taking him to another veterinary hospital. Those first hours were incredibly important, and I will always wonder whether earlier recognition, communication, and referral could have made a difference. My dog walked into the clinic that morning. He left the same day completely paralyzed and fighting for his life. Despite every effort by the emergency team to save him, he passed away in the early morning of July 18, 2026. My French Bulldog was only 2 years and 9 months old. He had never been seriously ill and was always a happy, loving, and playful dog. He brought so much joy to our lives, and we are heartbroken by his loss. This was one of the most painful experiences my family has ever endured. Based on what we experienced, I cannot recommend this clinic. I hope no other family has to go through what we did. Rest in peace, my little angel. You will always be loved, forever missed, and never forgotten.
