I don't even know where to begin with this company or how they're in business despite their predatory tactics. I worked with them for a few days before quitting. This company intentionally keeps insurance companies in the dark and proceeds to perform work on policy holder's homes without any insurance approval or even consideration of the job scope. When the insurance company refuses to fund the project, they take certain legal actions to pressure the client into paying for work they (in congruence with the carrier) did not approve. This is outright nauseating and quite the business model. This is only the tip of the iceberg. This company genuinely does not understand the restoration industry and basic logical industry practices and standards and even refuse to follow said standards. Their prices are exorbitant and arbitrary as well. I am impressed that they're still in business, but it seems they're shifting towards different aliases due to the bad light they've placed themselves under. This is not uncommon, many companies do this. If you think this is anecdotal, I got a bridge in Brooklyn to sell ya. I'm can't even get into the personalities that run the company. As humans we can only grow if we come to terms with the fact that we do not know it all, and some people have a harder time accepting this than others. The silver lining is that other local businesses have received plenty of work from jobs they have been fired from, albeit at the expense of an innocent local homeowner. Good luck guys! read more

This business committed outright fraud. I've filed a formal complaint with the CSLB. I've also uncovered additional fraudulent activities they've engaged in through conversations with other customers. If you've been defrauded by Critical Control, please contact me--my lawyer is ready to assist on a contingency basis. Critical Control started work on my property without authorization, billed for fake charges (e.g., $150 for gas for a 45-minute drive), and attempted to charge me 14 times (not a typo) more than a reputable contractor who completed the work after I caught onto their behavior. They also manipulate reviews by maintaining a second Yelp page (https://www.yelp.com/biz/critical-control-santa-rosa-2) to hide negative feedback, a clear attempt to mislead potential customers. How is this place still open and running when all they do is scam people?! Please choose someone else. Stay away from critical control. Message me if you have any questions I don't want anyone else to go through this. This is a family business and they will make up charges and disappear once they send the invoice. BEWARE. STAY AWAY! Our upstairs neighbors pipes leaked (sudden). The water leaked into our home downstairs. We called CC right away not looking at any reviews and they were able to come out. We were in a panic and no estimates were provided. CC came out and found moisture in our hallway ceiling and floors. They used the dehumidifier for 5 days and took out some dry wall. The damages were estimated around 4-5k. Damage was very minimal. A few days after all the work was done, CC sends us a bill over 14k. Throughout the process we did not have anyone contact us with estimates. The only estimate we ever got was around 4-5k. This company will put a lien on your home if you do not pay. A great advice from a public adjuster is to never go with a company that wants to put a lien on your house and a company who won't provide estimates for the work. After the work was completed, it was impossible to reach anyone at critical control. Once we received the invoice, we could not get a hold of any of the staff. We were told they all quit, which was a lie!! We were assigned a property manager and customer service Manager, they were available to us the first couple days while water mitigation was going on and couldn't reach them at all after. After the invoice came, they dissapeared. Email was no longer working and phone numbers no longer working. After everything happened, we called 3 other companies for estimates, had 2 companies come out for an estimate, and they told us it was around 2-3k only. How were we charged $14,000!!!!!! We ended up paying but I wish we would've pressed charges and I hope these crooks won't scam anyone else. BEWARE. "Carolyn W" the review that is posted on here is the director at critical control. I hired Critical Control for heavy water damage on my elderly mother's home and Rohnert Park Ca. The very first phone contact I had with this company was from there Petaluma office and spoke with the office manager. The first first question I asked was "I need this job done from the very start of removal of wet material to mold removal and then a complete rebuild of the home in order to put it back in the same condition it was prior to the major leak in the ceiling". There answer was yes we can do the job! With that being said ..I hired them for the complete job not just the mold as agreed-upon on the phone. After the water cleanup was done, and the mold was removed. Critical Control hired a subcontractor to rebuild the home. They failed to get a signed contract from their subcontractor. The subcontractor finished the job and tried to collect monies that Critical Control owed him. The subcontractor never got paid from Critical Control. Critical Control never billed my insurance company for the rebuild either. Critical Controls subcontractor was threatening to put a lien on my mother's property so I paid out of pocket the full amount to the subcontractor even though Critical Control hired them. Critical Control is now filing a lawsuit against me for monies they claim I never paid for the mold removal and denying they hired anybody to rebuild the home. Very unethical business practices be very, very careful. read more

Zac and his crew were extremely professional and friendly. We have a down stairs master bedroom that flooded this winter. They were able to get it taken care of in time before the water caused even more damage to studs. Fortunately they said nothing structural was damaged as that would have really driven the cost up. We really appreciate their honesty. Flooring did have to be replaced. All in all, they made it a painless experience in as much as something like that can be. read more

Northbay got to my house fast and washed all the windows. They charge one thousand dollars an hour. 2.5 hours 2,500.00. only one guy had a tool. the other two, I guess, prepped. the tool was a long pole with a mop at the end with a hose connected to it. No squeegee . The ionized water worked pretty well. No streaks but a little filmy. they used my water and they took my valve stem so i couldnt water the plants. The men left without checking in with me. The operater told me they would return the water vaulve key but never did. I waited 5 days then replaced it myself. Very expensive , not much effort on their side. If you need it done fast and price is no option, they are great. If you want a good job with good value , this may not be a good choice. I wont call them again. The scheduler was very sweet. the workers were average, the price and value not very good. Sorry to report this. I was hopeing to have a long relationship with them. read more

I would go with a company approved by your insurance over these guys. They will get the job done, but they will overcharge you and your insurance. My insurance co works with restoration companies all the time and knows the value of this work and these guys are about 15K over market for our job and now they are coming to us for it. Their invoice is charging for things like the use of their iPad, masks never worn, saws never used, leaving drying equipment in our home for days without testing to see if the moisture is gone and then charging thousands of dollars for the equipment rental. These guys are crooks. Just got a letter from their lawyer after we itemized our discrepancies. We will be pursuing legal action. read more

We just ended a lawsuit with them because they charged us 4x what everyone else was charged so our insurance didn't even agree to pay them so we got stuck with 18k bill, not worth it for us to fight as it will cost us more in legal fees, court dates etc and they know that. Not sure how they are still in business or why people call them if they are doing any research at all. We made the biggest mistake ever by calling when we had a leak in our kitchen, they did next to nothing in our home, and we fired them and hired a new company, now a year and half later got sued for 18k! Do not trust them, they sound nice and professional over the phone, will rush to get someone and equipment into your home asap so they can start charging to rent the equipment for more than it cost to buy it at Home Depot!!! They charged for PM that was not on site, and my husband is a PM and they charged so much more than he makes an hour! Had serious water damage in my master bathroom, I saw that critical control services my area and I gave them a call. Everyone was really professional on the phone and I was able to schedule an inspection really easily. Chloe came out to my home and assessed the extent of the the damage and provided me with a fair quote to preform the work. They are crooks by called a different number and it helicopter to their company they came out they proceeded to charge $24,000 for four days shift my breaker which I'm going to have to spend thousands of dollars to fix that because they had too many blowers going on and they won't talk to you after you call them after they've done their job and they never give you an estimate. They are horrible horrible people they have put a lien on our property sending lawyers to collect the money just please please please be careful. Fire sprinkler pipe leaked in ceiling causing black mold to appear on ceiling and wall. Called Critical Control out and they responded immediately. They assessed the damage and had crew out the next day. They had to remove the whole bathroom ceiling, remove wet insulation and remediate the mold. They replaced the ceiling and textured and painted the whole bathroom. The whole process took almost 3 weeks including all of the drying time. They kept us posted and updated every day. They were prompt and courteous. Thy covered and protected the hallway into the room and covered up all the sensitive parts. They cleaned up afterwards and everything looks great. They were very good of ridding our house of all remnants of smoke and ash which included duct cleaning and replacing all insulation. They came by to clean the windows of my Building the worker on 2 story ladder talking on the cell phone at the same time with a Squeegee in his hand Scratched all of my Apt Windows. The same day they were supposed to clean the entryway common area of my building, it was never done. I have only lived here 5 months its a brand new Apt. They totally deny any Damage...now I have to take legal action. The owner Thomas and Zac Copper left me no choice they take no responsibility. I will not support a company that's doesn't do the work they were contracted to do and are not accountable for them self's or employees. They cleaned the roof gutters in the dark of night using a flashlight to navigate. If this is common practice then I will change my rating. They were quick to get the contract signed, accept the down payment for services and then lagged on scheduling and day of service communication, ie time of arrival. The team arrived at around 5:45 pm, dark of night, to clean the gutters on my elderly mother's home. Their nighttime arrival was confusing to her and the next morning she cleaned the sludge left behind from the gutters. I am on the board of a Homeowners Association in Danville. We don't have an on-site manager, we're too small, so the Board Members share in the contract and project management for annual upkeep tasks. This year we replaced much of our common area concrete pathways, but in addition, we wanted to remove years of tree sap and scale that had coated our concrete pathways. We happened upon North Bay Maintenance because they claimed to have expertise with pressure washing... and yes, they sure did, and then some. They arrived with a purpose-built trailer setup with a propane fired water heater, multiple spray guns, and a rotary brush doo-hickey like I hadn't seen since my high school janitor buffed the floors with something sort of like it. It turns out they knew just the right amount of pressure and heat to actually "lift" away the years of staining and calcium or whatever build up without destroying the concrete surface. They restored our sidewalks to a pristine condition and they didn't leave pencil tip marks, they used the right nozzles and sprays and environmentally safe cleansers, which they recaptured with a vacuum hose and put in holding tanks.
