I had extreme water damage in my house from a pipe that burst and I needed a contractor to work with me and my insurance company. I chose Charles Keller Construction because they answered all the questions correctly with a lot of knowledge to back them up. People warned me that I would have problems with my contractor Having work done on the house. This was not the case. They were extremely friendly helpful and answered every question and they never said no even when I went back to make changes, they had a sure no problem attitude the house turned out great and in a pretty fast amount of time too I cannot recommend them enough, and I will have them come back to do other projects that I will need in the future. read more

I represent a non-profit that needed Keller Construction to grade some extra crushed stone that we had delivered as a part of a rehab of a military cemetery that we maintain. We needed the extra stone -about 4-5 cubic yards worth - spread out over the roadway... And we need it done quickly, as Veterans Day was fast approaching. Austin was great to work with, he was able to manage most of the process at a distance, with electronic signatures and contracts. The job itself was done very quickly, and it was done well. After Charles Keller Construction worked a miracle on our house after we had a fire ( approx 10 years ago) we had a blown water supply line in our kitchen. Ran the gauntlet with serv pro servicemaster listening to the BS & PROBABLY GETTING SCREWED BY Servicemaster. I called Austin told him what was going on, long story short he had a crew out to my house within an hour. These guys were amazing,they set up a barrier started the demo & had the majority done in a few hours. By the way no charge for the visit or any type.of an estimate charge ( servicemaster is charging me 250 because they got too bad so I will now turn it over to my bank.) I will update this as my problems as well as the overall job performance & outcome, however I am confident I could write the final review now, with 5 stars rating Austin is awesome truly a Contractor I would recommend to any one. read more

After the fires this past year, we tried to return to our home, near Foothill in Windsor, this was not possible. The house had so much smoke damage, it was unlivable. They can handle your claim whether it's a small water damage, or a full blown fire that has reduced your home or business to just a foundation. They can handle all of your contents restoration, storage and inventory. They can do your clean up of all that mold that just won't seem to go away. They can dry out save your home from water damage, and rebuild it to better than it was before loss happened. There were several componets needed to restore the unit Drywalling painting sub flooring repair Furnace replacement remediation from mold and replacement of carpet and linoleum The gave an accurate time frame to complete all the work and had it all done In time for Christmas the staff and project manager was good at keeping me aware of each phase he was polite to me and my fussy tenant highly reccomend using this construction company In the 3 weeks they estimated. read more

Had a great meeting with Kevin today at our home business in San Anselmo. Kevin really seen that I was very upset about me losing my workplace due to the small flood. I appreciate how kevin gave me an honest answer or answers on how we could make this work in the shortest amount of time possible. I would have given Charles Keller construction 1 star but I can't actually comment on their construction work per se. I recently experienced a nasty dishwasher incident that resulted in damage to my kitchen floor and the walls and ceiling in the room below my kitchen. This led to an insurance claim. The insurance company proposed Charles Keller as the mitigation and construction firm to complete the necessary work and I went with that suggestion. The mitigation work was done extremely promptly and to my knowledge quite thoroughly. The individual who led that part of the work was Brock Emanuel and he was extremely polite and responsive to my queries, whether in person, by phone or text. I never had any problem getting hold of him and he was very good at explaining what was going on. Once the demolition work was completed I was then passed to their estimator for doing the construction work, ie putting my house back together. He came round twice to discuss the simple task of putting things back together as well as discuss some ideas we had for how we might use the fact that some of our walls were in pieces as a starting point for doing some basic remodeling work. Unfortunately, this is where they fell off the map. More than a month later I had received no estimate for any of the work, not even the simple estimates of putting things back how they were. I left several voicemails and sent many emails and texts to the contact I had there and never even received a reply. Upon contacting Brock, who as mentioned had been very communicative, he responded that he was surprised and would follow up with them himself. Still no response. During this time I have been living with three walls and half a ceiling in one of my rooms and an uneven, damaged floor in my kitchen. In addition, the settlement from the insurance company was largely dependent on the estimate that never arrived from Charles Keller. As such the only reimbursement I have received to pay for fixing the damage is based on an estimate by the insurance company which one can be fairly sure is likely to be on the low end. My only assumption is that once they had seen the proposals for work at my house Charles Keller decided the job was too small to be worth their while. Somewhat unethical I would propose, given the state of my house as mentioned above. So, as I stated at the top, I can't actually comment on their construction work but if their level of responsibility and responsiveness is any indication, I wouldn't want them doing any work on my house now even if they did eventually get back to me. read more

After experiencing significant flood damage to our home due to a defective water filter, our insurance company called in a different company to do mitigation and the rebuild on our house. I won't go into details, but that company turned out to be a nightmare (they have since gone out of business) and our claims adjuster thankfully called in Keller Construction to our rescue. Our home is a bit out of the ordinary, having a lot of handcrafted woodwork, on top of which we decided that while we had the house down to the studs we would upgrade some fixtures and rooms. Austin Keller (the owner) was great to work with, working with us closely to make sure that we got the upgrades we wanted and was sensitive to our needs of having the wood restored to it's original condition. He was always responsive to our questions and worked closely with his subcontractors to make sure that the work was done to high standards. After moving back in (on schedule), when we saw anything that needing tweaking, Austin would send someone over right away to resolve any issues. Austin is not only a valued contractor, but we now consider him a friend. That's something we definitely can't say about any of the other contractors we have worked with in the last 30 years. read more

We had an undiscovered dishwasher leak that was uncovered only when our beautiful wood floors started rotting from underneath. Our insurance company determined there was mold and had Charles Keller come in to remove all infected areas. The two men who worked on our house for about 6 days over a 10 day period were personable and easy to have around. They brought boxes and packing materials (I think they would have packed up stuff too but we did that), moved our fridge out so we could still use, then tented the kitchen off for mold containment. We always knew when they would be here, they were always on time and explained what was happening and next steps, etc. It wasn't fun with all the noise and machines but it had to be done. Geronimo and Jose definitely made it easier. Next step will be reconstruction and expect to use them for that stage too based on the demo/mold containment experience. read more

CK have been working on a number of things for us. Had a slightly rough start with a few rookie project management flubs but that was resolved quickly and without excuses. The guys, and for that matter, their subs, were great. They (from owner to worker) were all very competent and always in touch to make sure we were happy as well as easily reachable. As a result we were more prone to flexibility as things sometimes don't happen exactly as planned with any construction work. They most certainly didn't nickel and dime us at all and clearly take great pride in their reputation. I would not hesitate to recommend them - and I'd rate them 5 star if not for the rough start (perhaps because our work was a small fish in a large sea in the scheme of things?) - but look out for that - though I wish I could make it 4.5 overall. Nice folk, great work, and I'm pretty sure they did quite a few small things out of scope that needed doing, just because they saw a problem and wanted to ensure it was done properly, and they had all the tools out to do it even if it took a few mins longer. Nice job overall. I'll use them again without a second thought. read more

Oh man- if only every company had this many trustworthy, skilled, and respectful employees! I can't say enough good things about Austin and his crew! We called them to get a second opinion on some mold remediation issues, and oh how I wish we called them first. It would have saved us even more money. Anyone that came to our house from Charles Keller Construction- from the first look, to estimates, to further testing and inspections, to demo-ing the wall, to repairing it... I felt completely comfortable and impressed with their knowledge, skill, and sense of truly doing what was necessary without cutting corners- the perfect combo. They were able to save me SO much money by doing such a thorough inspection, and discover that the inspection that the OTHER company gave us was such a scare tactic and based on very limited and minimal testing. After a few weeks my jobs was assigned to them from insurance and instead of telling insurance that they are busy, they said something very dishonest to insurance to refuse to come. We were scheduled to have a contruction job to start today at 9:00. They did a no show. This was coordinated through our insurance company and I don't know why our insurance company would use them. They came out originally and looked at the job and told our insurance company how much the job would cost and they would start in two weeks. That was last week. Then we got a call that said the job would start on Monday or Tuesday and they would let us know. We called them back and they said it would start on Wednesday and they did this no show on us. They said they would start tomorrow , Thursday, but the insurance company coordinator called them and they couldn't guarantee that they could start tomorrow. We're going to use another contractor. These people don't deserve our business nor anyone else for that matter. If they can't even show up, what kind of work quality could you expect? read more

I was on the road at the time, and the next exit was right in the area where Charles Keller construction was located. Stopped in and discussed with Kevin the need for an emergency board up. They were extremely busy at the time, but the owner Austin Keller personally went out to inspect, arrange the board up and calm my friends fears. It all started with a leaky dishwasher that turned into a impromptu kitchen remodel. Our insurance co. sent out Keller Construction Co. to survey the damage, repair and replace any areas of concern. Austin Keller and his crew were very professional in every facet of the job. After the kitchen was dried and all the mold and mildew was removed it was time to replace some of the oak cabinets that were damaged. New ones were made to match the originals. They were perfect, no one would ever know they were new. New tile floors, windows, counter tops, back splash, lighting and appliances. Everything came out perfect, it is our dream kitchen that has been a long time coming. During the construction phase, the Keller crew as well as the sub contractors Put up plastic sheeting every day to control the dirt and dust. At the end of the day, the kitchen area was cleaned and vacuumed and the sheeting removed. Austin and his crew kept in touch on a daily basis and informed us of the following days schedule. There was some down time which was to be expected because it wasn't a planned remodel. Windows had to be ordered as well as the counter tops. I can't say enough positive about Keller Construction. They are the best and I would highly recommend them for any of your new construction or remodeling needs. read more

This company was hired to do mold abatement in my home. Read their contract carefully. Their 4-page contract looked like the entire process was covered in the bid, but in reality it only covered the removal of contaminated materials. If mold cleaning was needed, the original bid was doubled. Their employee cut an electrical wire in the wall and called in a "very reasonable electrician" to make the repair. The electrician spent less than an hour replacing a short wire and charged me $300. Keller decided to purchase a needed piece of chip board valued at $13 and added on an additional $95 to my invoice for this item. read more

I would not recommend this contractor. Charles Keller Construction did a remodel on a bathroom for me. They were not timely, did not live up to their promises, the employees send were not trained and the overall workmanship was poor. They did however send good subs. I took them off the job before it was completed and they still changed me the full amount. Maybe my job was too small for them to bother. read more

My parents contracted with Charles Keller Construction to perform repair work on their downstairs bathroom. I am the point of contact for the contractor. They came out in June 2017 to take a look at the repair work that needed to be done, prepare an estimate and submit it to our insurance company. A check was sent to the contractor in July 2017 by the insurance company, and no one performed any work for 2 months. They continually gave us the runaround about abatement work needing to be done for a 2nd claim, before they could proceed. They could have started the work downstairs while placing plastic over the ceiling that needed to be repaired, since it was just under the upstairs bathroom which required some abatement work. We continually had to follow-up with the estimator, Ben Lopez, because he never communicated with us. When they were supposed to show up in August, a phone call to the contractor revealed that he was leaving for vacation that day. The insurance adjuster and I believed the contractor was supposed to start work. Ben, the project manager, stated it was a miscommunication, that he was waiting for the abatement co. to finish up the abatement on the 2nd claim upstairs. He could have put up containment plastic on the ceiling, so he could proceed with the repair work downstairs. Finally, at the end of September, they were able to come out and put up drywall, and tape and texture it. Just getting them out here required additional follow up calls, because they would never call or text us first. Now, we are trying to coordinate with them completing the 1st claim, and scheduling completion of the 2nd claim, after the abatement company comes this week, so we won't have to be in a hotel for more than a couple of days. But again, more runaround, saying now he is going to hand it off to a different project manager, because he is going to work on the fire claims, and we deserve better service than he can provide. This new project manager was supposed to contact us on the 24th, but we have yet to be contacted. According to other complaints here on Yelp, we see that he was working on other projects in July and August, when they could have completed our first claim for repair. This is the worst customer service I have ever experienced. If you are considering using this company, please read all the reviews here first and on the BBB website. You would be wise to consider a different, more responsible contractor, that actually knows how to communicate with you. read more

I called Charles Keller Construction a few days after a fire destroyed most of my home. A sympathetic voice came on the phone and it turned out to be someone I had met in the construction world years before. The CK representative came out to the job site quickly, met with my insurance adjuster and the two of them began speaking the same language much to the relief of the adjuster who said "this is your guy". And so it was. Nine months later I have my home back, restored the way it was along with some very nice added benefits. It is not unusual to have a few hiccups on a job this complex, and we did, but the company always resolved the issue professionally and quickly. In my view this is one of the most important attributes a company can have. The fire was a very stressful and chaotic personal experience and it was especially helpful to have a company that understood the insurance aspects, remediation requirements and the rebuilding process all in one. And even better, it was a great group of contractors and subcontractors who were competent, respectful and willing to go the extra mile. read more
