For me, the communication was fine until I was there but after the lease ended, they were unprofessional in there behavior. I ended up loosing nearly a thousand bucks extra on move out and never heard back about my security deposit. I got ghosted after I asked for details about the matter. On my final day, my friend tried to deliver the key at the end of the day but they were closed. He returned it the next day but they charged me rent for that day. Lesson learnt, always leave the keys inside the apartment to not get charged by Holland Residential. So my advice would be to clarify the details you care about beforehand to avoid sneaky surprises.

The complex is very very clean, they shampoo the carpets often, and clean each level (deep clean) twice a week. There are a ton of amenities that are easy to book. And the apartment itself is amazing, no complaints. Loved it since the day we moved in, and I've had some seriously bad apartments in the past. It's always quiet, the entire building has people who are very respectful and quiet. The other property manage, Jen - the recent review about her isn't far off. I've never personally dealt with her more than once, but i'm not sure if she's technically in a resident facing position unless Genni is gone. She's not the worst but she's never been particularly helpful, and has a very curt attitude. She always seems annoyed that she has to be there, and will not know the answer to your questions if you ask them. Genni will, and if she doesn't she will find out quickly and get back to you. The country music mentioned in the reviews does play in the lobby but it definitely is not blaring. Haha. All in all I'd recommend it!

It is probably one of the coolest places I have ever lived. So, why the 1-star review? Here's the deal: If you are planning to BUY a condo here, ignore the star review (in fact, for buyers I would rate it a "5"). However, if you plan to LEASE a unit, think really hard before you do so. The HOA needs to approve every unit to be rented, which means if your lease is up and they don't approve it then you're kicked out. Or, if you have a legitimate reason to terminate your lease early (regardless of what your lease says) it still needs to be approved by the HOA before it can be re-rented, which mean you could be stuck paying rent for several months on an empty unit. (And they don't allow sub-leasing, btw.) The HOA takes zero consideration of the tenant's situation and only considers the "hardship" of the owner of the unit (your landlord), which means you are basically treated as if you don't exist. Trust me, I have first-hand experience with them, and they only look at me as a "name on a piece of paper" instead of a person who could use a little bit of compassion. So to sum it up: If you want to buy a unit, go for it. It's an excellent place to live in Seattle. If you want to rent, however, you may want to look at other nearby apartment complexes, especially if you want to stay longer than your initial lease (min 1 year, max 2 years) or have an unpredictable life that may change without warning.

High ceilings, open layout with floor to ceiling glass windows with unobstructed views of the Space Needle and Lake Union are spectacular.

Unlike the movie, there is no "Escala" sign on top of the building, so it may be easy to miss. There is however, a large, multi story, Bed Bath and Beyond store directly across from it. The Escala is located on the corner of 4th Street and Virginia. Not much to see here, but a great place to take selfies and tell your friends back home, you went to Christian's pad.

Anna and the whole office staff have been phenomenal the whole time I have lived here. Any time there is a maintenance issue or anything,they are on TOP of it. We love our apartment and the vibe and aesthetic of it as well. :) The only thing I will advise you of is the area can be a little loud and overwhelming sometimes as there are a lot of homeless individuals and drunk people on the weekends, just an fyi. All depends on how you like to live. Transit access is phenomenal as well with the light rail station across the street and two major bus stops right beside you as well! I love the heights. We lucked out and got an apartment with all new appliances, which was lovely! I recommend checking them out for your future or current housing needs!
