I had a pretty good experience at Crispy Cones overall! The desserts were definitely delicious -- I really liked the whipped strawberries with the cone, the cheesecake ice cream flavor, and the strawberry chocolate one too. Everything tasted fresh and sweet, and I can see why people like the concept. For me personally though, it feels more like a one-time experience. The cone bread reminded me a lot of the sweet Mexican breads we already make and eat often, so compared to the prices, I probably wouldn't go back regularly. One of the employees also came off a little rude during my visit, but besides that, the overall experience was still good and the desserts themselves were really tasty! read more

First visit was not a good experience. My order was made wrong and when I mentioned it, the staff ignored me but their expressions and body language clearly heard me. It was really odd. I had to ask 3 times how to fix the mistake. Finally one of the workers said in a low voice that he would take care of it. What I'm I missing? This is literally just soft serve ice cream. They do serve it in some churro like cone, then add all kinds of toppings that you can choose from. One cone cost me $12 bucks (tip included). If you got kids looking for ice cream, I would steer them to someplace a little cheaper. Parked in the parking garage to get the first half hr free. There was a short line when I got there in the late Friday afternoon on their opening day. You could either order with one of the staff members or order through the tablet located at the front by the menu and they make in front of you. You can get soft serve ice cream by itself or choose the ice cream to be inside a dough cone, either traditional or Biscoff cone. Steps are: Step 1: Choose your cone Step 2: Pick a spread for the inside Step 3: Choose your filling Step 4: Add toppings (some are included and some have an up charge) Step 5: Drizzle a sauce on Waited in a line after placing the order and moved along the line until they called my name, which took about seven minutes. I ordered a specialty swirl filling, not exactly sure what that is-Received a vanilla soft served ice cream. I chose cookie butter for my spread inside the cone, almonds for my topping, and Nutella for my sauce on the soft serve ice cream. The soft serve ice cream was good. They put the topping of almonds in the middle of the dough cone and on the ice cream. They could've done a better job with the almond presentation on the ice cream, just not evenly placed and kind of clumped together. Dough cone itself tasted okay. I didn't care for having ice cream in the cone. Maybe the biscoff cone would have tasted better with soft serve ice cream. However, I did enjoy the bottom of the cone that had a good chunk of cookie butter. I signed up on the tablet for the loyalty program, which gave me 25% off my order. This place really should not have as many bad reviews as it does. People are being unrealistic. It's a churro cone, of course it might leak a little at the bottom and of course it might get soggy if you take too long to eat it. Use common sense. They do seasonal ice cream each month and I tried the maple donut one and it was unbelievable, tasted exactly like eating a maple donut. The staff was super friendly too so I don't get why people complain. Yeah it's ten bucks, but it's downtown and everything is ten bucks now. At least the ice cream was big and worth it. I had been getting ads for crispy cones for weeks. While there is not one where I live my son took me to one that had recently opened in Wilmington, NC. They have vanilla and chocolate as well as a weekly flavor this week, it was maple doughnut, which my son was really excited about. I opted to get the chocolate with strawberries on top and then for my cone on the inside, I got Nutella. You guys it was so good but I will say it was expensive and it was very filling so this actually ruined our dinner so we did not get dinner that night but that's OK. It was worth it. I definitely wanna go back and I would recommend this to everyone. I feel like the ice cream game has been the same for years and years and years and this concept with the (cone, I know that it was created on Shark Tank and Barbara the shark chose it seven years ago). This is the first time I had it, and it was so unique and delicious. Next time, depending on what the featured ice cream flavor is, I think that I will get peanut butter on the inside of my cone with chocolate ice cream because something about this screams chocolate, peanut butter, and I believe peanut butter is the flavor of the week this week! Because it was a new store I think two of the three people working or in training, which was absolutely fine. We went on a Wednesday at 3 PM so it was not busy. I am always excited to try out new additions to downtown Wilmington. When I saw crispy cones opened I was excited to give them a try. They have a few different soft serve options, that they put inside one of their freshly baked cones, with your choice of toppings and fillings inside the cone. First things first, the cone. It can be covered in cinnamon sugar as the default or a rotating topping, when I went it was biscoff pieces. I really wanted to like the cone, but in my opinion it was just kind of flavorless and impractical. It had a hole in the bottom, so you couldn't eat it like a traditional ice cream cone, and it was really difficult to try and eat with a spoon. The soft serve ice cream was good, and the varieties of toppings was nice. It was quite pricy though, at over $8 per cone. In the end I would consider it more of a gimmick that was fun to try once, but I don't see myself going back. read more

We liked it a lot! The traditional cone was tasty and the soft serve overall was good! They don't overload toppings and syrup either. They are making the cones literally in front of you. Smells great in there tbh. The place is very clean from what I saw. It's small inside but they set up a divider for lines so there's no cutting etc from crowds. Theykiosks allow for self ordering but they are by register due to limited wire The owner was very nice. It's definitely not what I expected. I expected very very sweet etc but it was not the case! It's really tasty!... and with Kilwins up the road I honestly don't think they'd complete with each other! The soft serve is very very good and different than what kilwins offers which makes them compliment each other. I would love to see chocolate sprinkle options though. There is indoor standing with bar type seating and two small outdoor tables too. Love that they are next door to our fave eatery! read more

I was soooooo excited to see this come to W. The idea is steller but the execution was not good. The hot yummy cone becomes hard to eat and stale-ish by the time you get to the cone. They serve it in two cups so you need a spoon to eat it and then there is a hole on the bottom so it leaks. Lol. Ice cream was good. Nutella was yummy. Having only two people prepare orders using a tiny screen didn't seem to help move the line. read more

These cones were so unique and delicious. You could watch them make the cones and then assemble your order. The staff was helpful with our very specific questions. Only a few places to sit inside which wasn't an issue for us since we took ours to go. I wish they gave a larger cup to eat the cone out of (you can't eat just holding like a regular cone) and a knife to help cut the cone up. We ended up dumping ours into a bowl (we were staying in the next building) at our place. Would def go back. read more
