I was in this past weekend because I am planning for an event and I wanted to taste these cupcakes and see if I wanted them for our event. We ordered a few of the smaller mini-cupcakes to taste like Carrot and Chocolate Peanut Butter and I LOVED the taste. Of all the different places we visited this past weekend these were perhaps the best tasting. They remain moist which makes them extremely tasty. However, at $32-$38 per dozen these are about twice the cost of other cupcakes or desserts. I always do the math and I am not sure Pink Baking is worth twice as much as other cupcake options in the area or other desserts. With all that said, the service was very friendly and I love the decor inside. I am not sure I have met anyone who doesn't think Pink isn't delicious. I really like this place and suggest others give it a try, but it isn't necessarily the most bang for your buck and that is okay. read more

I ordered cookies here for my engagement party, and they were a huge hit! Ashley was able to make them for me with only two week's notice. She used the picture I sent her from Pinterest and recreated them beautifully! She was so sweet in person, and our order was fulfilled without a hitch. The cookies were humongous, and so sugary and yummy. The taste just screams wedding cookies. I have quite a few leftover but we're slowly eating them all, they're that good. read more

Used them for our wedding and the flavor was incredible - we're already coming back for a birthday cake!

I was in Wilmington for a day trip with friends and as a preggo woman, I MUST HAVE MY SWEETS. While we had an hour wait to be seated at a restaurant, we decided to walk around. I knew that I wanted something sweet. The cravings were TOO strong. As I strolled down the street, I saw Pink Baking Co and knew I had to go inside. When I entered the establishment, I was immediately welcomed. It was very clean, well decorated, and spacious. Plenty of seatings! There were even more space towards the back and they had wind! I couldn't drink any, but it was nice knowing I can wine and dessert at the same time :) They had a little varieties of cupcakes, macaroons, and cookies/brownies. I got a salted caramel macaroons, lemon and lavender macaroons, and a mini carrot cake cupcake. ALL OF IT WAS DELICIOUS. Macaroons were light and fluffy and had a nice punch of flavor! Carrot cake was delicious. Almost reminded me of a mini muffin. Next time I come, I don't want to be pregnant so I can enjoy the wine and dessert! read more

If I happen to be walking by this place, I'm not sure what happens but my feet start pulling me towards it and I cannot turn them away! It happened Saturday. Although I'm dieting (boo), I did remember that they have those wonderful little mini cupcakes and I felt better about ordering one of those instead of a full size one. All in moderation, right? This time, I tried a mini called Wonder Woman. The samoa is my favorite from here, and oftentimes, you can only get it as a special order. However, the Wonder Woman was pretty bangin! It was a chocolate cake filled with espresso ganache and espresso/caramel buttercream frosting. So here's the deal. I'm weird about chocolate cupcakes. Mainly because I don't like for the chocolate to be completely overpowering. But this, this was no ordinary chocolate cupcake. The coffee undertones paired with the caramel buttercream was just a perfect combo. The espresso ganache was very smooth and the coffee/chocolate ratio was perfect. Neither over powered the other and mixed well with the chocolate cake. I'm not gonna say it is my favorite, but it could be a close second! read more

Redemption.... stopped by and grabbed a few cupcakes and a macaroon. Everything was delicious and it looks like there were no fruit flies present. Delicious presentation and wonderful cream cheese frosting. I believe the owner assisted us with our tasty treats during our recent visit. Will stop by when in the area and recommend your quaint establishment. Luckily, plenty of walking in the downtown area to burn off the extra cupcake I enjoyed! read more

We ordered birthday cake for my 80th birthday plus cupcakes for which we were charged $770 including a $100 delivery fee. Unfortunately, cupcakes were not delivered. When we complained we were refunded $128.75 but no refund for the "lack of delivery " fee. While the cake was ok but certainly not worth more than $500. A $100 delivery fee is far in excess of what it should be. I would use caution if ordering any bakery from Pink Baking to ensure you understand what you're paying for. Not again for us. read more

I have tried the other cupcake store not too far from there and wanted to compare the two. This is a pleasant place with a small selection of cupcakes to choose from. It was OK and similar to the other place in my humble opinion. This place had more room to visit in and be more open space. Very pleasant people at the counter. read more

Two friends and I stopped in during Riverfest for a delicious treat. Jordan was working behind the counter and was so friendly and helpful! I tried the peanut butter chocolate cupcake (delicious!!!), one friend tried the red velvet cupcake (delicious!!), and the last one tried one of the macaroons. Being gluten-free, she was also very excited that there were several gluten-free cupcake options along with macaroon options. Everything was delicious and so very pretty! Jordan was a joy to meet and we all can't wait to return! read more

BEST WEDDING CAKE EVER! They were extremely helpful making me a wedding cake last minute for my small elopement on Carolina Beach. They took my cake top florals and were able to place them on the super cute semi-naked cake and gave us very specific instructions as to how to maintain the cake until the wedding. SUPER YUMMY frosting and flavor, the best lemon raspberry cake. My husband doesn't even like cake and he ate it. I am so glad I was recommended to their bakery. read more

Thhhhhreeee and a half, maybe? Don't get me wrong, it's not like I wouldn't eat their cupcakes or something. They're cupcakes! Sugary little bombs of happiness! These aren't BAD cupcakes by any means. They also just aren't great. My biggest complaint is the icing. There was waaaaaaaaaay too much. It was easily as tall and dense as the cupcake itself, and I haven't been able to enjoy a sugar rush that intense since at least middle school, because now I am a sad old person who wears sensible shoes with inserts and insists on having some protein at brunch. The cake was decent, but not especially notable, and the flavors were all pretty basic. This is a perfectly fine place to go for basic cupcakes, a few notches above what a decent home baker could make, but not a gourmet cupcake destination. Cute venue, though, and it's nice that they serve coffee and wine, too. read more

I first went to Hot Pink Cake Stand when I was visiting a friend for spring break. I found it online when I was searching for vegan-friendly places in the area. They offer a changing selection of cupcakes from classic vanilla and chocolate to unique flavors like chai tea and Guinness. They do vegan & non-vegan cupcakes. Also, I read online that they offer muffins, cookies, custom cakes, coffee, and tea. I believe they may even begin offering a sugar-free and gluten-free selection. I was just so fixated on getting a vegan cupcake that I didn't notice at the time. If you want to know what Hot Pink Cake Stand is baking up for the day, you can find out through their Facebook page. The first time I stopped by, they were sold out of their vegan selection. Wah. But the next day was a success! I'd suggest arriving early to make sure that you get the best selection. Overall, I was very pleased with my visit to HPCS. The owner was really friendly and accommodating. You can tell that she really loves what she does for a living. The interior of the bakery has a nice atmosphere & is quite lovely. Most importantly, the vegan cupcake that I had was delicious! Even my little chihuahua, Puppito gave it his approval! I'd definitely be a regular if I lived in Wilmington. read more

While in Wilmington visiting for the day, hubby and I decided to pick up a few cupcakes for the drive back to Myrtle Beach. I couldn't resist this store; after all, who walks past a place called HOT PINK CAKE STAND without going in? Crazy people, that's who. It was late in the afternoon, but they had several flavors left to choose from. I asked how often the cupcakes were baked and the girl behind the counter said every day, so bonus points! I did like how they had full-size and mini cupcake options. We chose a half dozen on the minis so we could try more flavors. They were very good! Moist with sweet but not grossly-sweet icing. We had red velvet, chocolate mint and chocolate peanut butter. Can't remember the other flavors. But they were ALL tasty. We didn't partake, but they have wine too. This would be so much fun to come in for cupcakes and wine. Too bad I live too far away to enjoy that. read more

I thought the service was fine. They looked like they were working on some remodeling, getting rid of older tables. They were working on a fancy cake order in the back, which was fun to watch the creation evolve. Cupcakes my friend- how can you go wrong? I tried the Reese's peanut butter cupcake mini which was plenty of indulgence and perfect size for portion control. I think the regular size would put someone into hyperglycemic shock, but that's just the nurse in me. read more

This bakery has an absolutely beautiful, impeccable inside with wooden tables and 60-style couch chairs. They also serve beer and wine - ideal for the late night drink with a sweet snack! The cupcakes are reasonably priced - $1.50 for a mini, and $3.00 for a regular size. Obviously, I had to try an assortment, so I went with 3 mini's - the cookies and cream (with oreo crumbles), the salted caramel and red velvet. The cookies and cream was my favorite, but the icing was really good on the salted caramel too. My husband had the peanut butter chocolate and also talked about how good the icing was. I tried it and thought it was the perfect amount of peanut butter mixed in. Also, tip, check in on yelp and get 50% off your first cupcake. That's always a good perk! read more

Every time I come in here I feel like I'm interrupting something.. The vibe is really awkward, always empty, and its no wonder.. the cupcakes are consistently dry and somewhat boring. With all the hype and creativity going on with the cupcake boom, you'd think this place would be on top of things for the prices they charge. I also walked into the the bathroom once and one of the chicks that worked there was curling her hair and freshening up her makeup and proceeded to make me stand there and wait until she was finished.. Why not get your ass back in the kitchen and make me some fresh cupcakes instead of worrying about your eyeliner?? Sorry, that's just what I think she should be doing... read more

Unfortunately I can't give HPCS any higher rating than 2. We got a pack of day old cupcakes which were promised by the owner to still be delicious and moist. They weren't. The cakes did taste artificial and surprisingly similar to boxed cakes. And the icing and decorations were uninspired and bland. Sad because the other cupcake places don't have much better reviews. read more

I agree with other reviews... As an avid baker from the New York City area, I was expecting better. It seems like the owners just decided to hop on the Cupcake Bandwagon... but a little too late and with bad taste. Most of the frostings I tried tasted like Crisco with sugar and an artificial flavor added to it. They could have used an interior designer and a graphic designer. Many people who are starting off a business do not feel that this is a necessary step in branding a company and ensuring its success. I can't stand the typeface that they chose for their logo. I think it is juvenile and kitschy. And the store could have used some input by a designer as well! WHY DOESN'T THE SIGN OUTSIDE MATCH THE LOGO?! It's called BRANDING. A trained graphic designer and an interior designer would have caught that. But hey, at least it's better than Coastal Cupcakes atmosphere. read more

Seems like everyone is opening a cupcake shop these days. If you want to stand apart from the crowd your cupcakes better be amazing, but these are just so-so. There is not enough cake for the portion of icing, and the icing tastes a bit artificial to me, like something I would get from the grocery store. Where is the butter?? I've read that this shop offers vegan cupcakes, but in my two visits I haven't been able to tell which cupcakes are vegan and which are not. They are not labeled. The cupcakes are far behind the counter and difficult to see. I do like the seating area and the fact that they are open in the evenings. Also, they sell loose tea. I am just not impressed with the cupcakes. read more

Visited here for the first time and was a little disappointed. My two friends and I walked in and the girl at the counter was on her phone the whole time. She sat there until we grabbed her attention to start ordering. Secondly, there wasn't a huge selection of pastries to choose from. The pastries were also really really small. I knew they sold "mini desserts," but the macaroons were supposedly not part of the mini desserts and they were the smallest macaroons I've ever seen. All the pastries were expansive too. Not worth visiting. read more

Love this place! They are in the perfect location if you have dinner in Downtown Wilmington and want to grab something sweet afterwards. Let me start by saying I never got a chance to taste their cakes. I really wanted to, I wanted to have a great time tasting their cakes and deciding on a wedding cake that my future wife would love. She was also excited, this place was a recommendation so we had high hopes. I made the call to set up an appointment so we could view designs and taste small samples of different flavors. Right off the bat I was told "we are too busy right now.....let me call you back when I get a chance". Ok, I get it, you are busy and need to focus. I was told I would hear back from them within the hour. Three hours later I get a call from them. I explain that I would like to make the appointment to plan for a wedding cake and taste what they have to offer. The woman of the phone was rude, short and seemed like she wanted nothing to do with anything I was saying. She then went on to say that for my fiance and I to taste anything it would cost $35. What??? I am about to make a $500+ purchase on a wedding cake and you want to charge me $35 just to make sure I like the flavor? While I am at it let me purchase a $50,000 car and pay $7,000 to test drive it or not test drive it at all. Let me purchase a $300,000 house and either pay $42,000 to look at it or not look at it at all. Greed is greed and that greed cost them $500+. I have contacted 7 bakery's and this is the only one that felt they needed to charge someone to taste their cakes before a huge purchase was made. What a joke, its flour and water, get over yourselves. I will never visit this establishment again and I will make sure everyone knows what type of greedy and unprofessional people work here/own this place. read more

This is coming from someone in the food/hospitality business: Highly disappointed! When I first called about vegan cupcakes for a baby shower, they were not the most pleasant girls to talk to. This should have been a red flag, but they seemed busy and I was just another order. When I came to pick up the cupcakes, the guy at the counter presented them to me, and they were the wrong color! He looked at me, like "are you going to be OK with that?" I said, these are for a baby shower taking place in an hour and they are the wrong color. He says, "well do you still want them?" A little perturbed, I said yes, but I asked about getting some sort of discount since they weren't made correctly. He said his owner was out of town and there was nothing he could do. He said he could have someone remake them, but no one could do it until the next day because of the other orders in front of me. I paid in full for my order, as I needed a dessert for the shower. I then asked again, if he would take down my name and number so he could have a manager call me. You would have thought I asked him to bake all the cupcakes again without a recipe or something. After leaving, I called him again and asked when the owner would be back because I had a feeling I wasn't going to get a call the next day. The owner wouldn't be back until the next week, and this was Thursday. To top everything off, the cupcakes were a tad dry and lacking in so much flavor! I had almost all of them left over. I took them to several of my restaurant friends, who agreed they were lacking in flavor quite a bit. I chose Hot Pink Cake stand because they made gluten free cupcakes. When I called back the next week, I left my name and number and no one called back. This was at the beginning of September and still nothing. Bad business. Bad Customer service. read more

The owner has personally told me that if we are ever coming in town and want a specific treat, to call her and she will have them ready for us.
