I find that you offer quality products at fair prices, and overall, I have been very satisfied with the store. One suggestion I would make is to simplify the discount process. Having standard discounts, paper coupons, and electronic coupons can sometimes make it unnecessarily complicated for customers to determine which discounts apply and how to get the best price. A simpler, more consistent discount system would be much easier and less frustrating for shoppers. My main concern today, however, was the customer service I experienced. At the deli counter, the gentleman assisting me appeared very unhappy and was not particularly friendly. After my order was completed, I thanked him and wished him a wonderful day. In return, I received only a displeased look. I understand that everyone has difficult days, but interactions like this can make a customer feel unwelcome. If someone is unhappy in a customer-facing position, perhaps management should take the opportunity to check in with them and see if there is anything that can be done. I also experienced an unpleasant interaction at checkout. I began bagging my groceries because I was simply trying to help keep things moving. I was told not to do so in a rather unpleasant tone. I had no intention of interfering--I was only trying to be helpful. Food Lion is a nice store, and I genuinely enjoy shopping there. That is why it is disappointing when interactions with employees leave a customer with an unpleasant experience. I hope management will take this feedback in the constructive spirit in which it is intended. Their prices are also very high for having to check out and bag your own groceries. The store is clean and nice though. All employees were very nice as well. I have also attended many functions throughout Southport where they provided the catering. I am writing this review specifically to praise Adam and his team for their incredible work catering my niece's wedding this past May at the River Hotel in Southport. This was a challenging venue with no kitchen, requiring all food to be served from a catering van under a tent. Adam was an absolute dream to work with. Despite the lack of a formal wedding coordinator, he managed a group of demanding voices with ease and professionalism. His confidence allowed those of us in the planning stages to relax, knowing he was truly in charge. The food was, as always, excellent, but I want to highlight how dependable Adam was in executing such a complex event. He was always available during the planning process and stayed on-site throughout the evening. He even saved the day when the rental vendor failed to deliver plates and spoons for the wedding cake--Adam stepped in with his own supplies at the last minute. His contagious joy and dedication made him an absolute pleasure to work with, and he was a major part of what made this such a memorable evening. I highly recommend his services for any event.
