Truthfully, I still don't think the actual coffee here is very good, but Crimson Cup has lots of other coffee shop positives. There is outdoor seating, a cozy interior, super nice staff and good tunes. It seems to be a good meeting spot for remote working, studying and/or socializing. They also have all kinds of locally made baked goods (including gluten free) and a breakfast egg sandwich. read more

Ok where do I start?!?! I'll start by saying Starbucks who?!??? Seriously tho call me crazy (and yes I love me some Starbucks) but this coffee is absolutely delicious. I don't think I can honestly explain in words. All I can say is if you ever get the chance to try it please do and you can thank me later!! They have fresh bakery items from a local bakery so i grabbed a cake pop too. Lots of room and seating to come work in here for the day. Parking was easy to find with multiple spots outside! I love this location! It's a newer Crimson Cup and may not have the drive thru like the one in Clintonville, but is still worth a visit. It's still got the red, black, and white theme going on but has some great areas inside and outside to study. I've come a few times already and I always see kids here hanging around until their parents pick them up after school. When I come around 2:15/2:30 on weekdays they make up most of the demographic here. No issue to me because at least I can still find a parking spot. Sometimes it's busy here sometimes not so much at this time. I see college students studying here too and a few other adults. Service is really great! They're always nice and say have a nice day which is a plus. The baristas are all hipsters so I love that! I've gotten lattes here which are pretty decent. Not strong, but definitely a drink that will appeal to most people. I got two pumps of caramel pecan in my latte and it had a nice flavor. You can choose from a few other syrups which I thought was great! They've also got a few gluten free products here. Not a ton, but enough that I would consider bringing my gluten free friends here. The space isn't super huge and I can see it getting packed on a weekend, so I'd recommend coming at an off time. read more

I stopped by Crimson Cup over the weekend for a meeting with a colleague of mine. It was my first time visiting this coffee shop and I must say -- my experience was breezy! First off, there is plenty of parking. I love it when parking is hassle free. We each placed our order with the gentleman running the counter and he was so sweet. He went above and beyond to make me my favorite drink, lavender soy latte. They have tons of flavors to add to their drinks but lavender wasn't on the menu that day. I mentioned that it's my fav and he said he thought he still had some lavender syrup in the back. They make it in house (hell yes!) and had a little bit left. It was a dream come true! The place is pristine, nicely spaced out and there's even a little fireplace. While it's been an oddly warm October, we still chose to sit close to the fire. We quickly got carried away in conversation, sipping our coffee drinks. It was great spot to meet up with someone and I can definitely see myself coming back here to work or meet up with a friend. This is a solid little cafe. They serve some of the most extraordinary roasts in Central Ohio. The baristas seem overworked and harried, which prompts me to usually drop a $5 tip on my $2 regular coffee or when I just drop in and buy whole beans and leave. Parking is a challenge at this location mainly because the bank next-door to the UA Crimson Cup is mad sheisty about using their parking lot. I lose count how may TOW AWAY signs the Wright-Patt Credit Union has posted. It's comical because the bank's parking lot is always empty except for the one person who works there LOL. Consequently, snagging a parking spot can feel unnecessarily hectic for such a cozy location. This location has a lot of seating options: countertop, 2-tops, sofas, and tables that'll seat 4. There's a little fireplace in there too but I think there are three doors in/out, so it gets very drafty inside. Depending on the day and time of day, the vibe can feel like an extension of OSU, or an assembly of local power brokers gnashing through spreadsheets, or a WFH sesh taken outdoors. It's definitely a neighborhood hub and glad that it's here. I think the most consistent customer type is the "need more coffee" person, either mid- or post-workout :) read more

We heard that Crimson Cup offered a frozen hot chocolate and decided to stop in and find out! The staff was friendly and efficient. It turns out that it is called a hot chocolate freeze, and, while most iced or frozen drinks on the menu come in Regular or Large sizes, they offer a small/kids size for both the hot chocolate freeze and the fruit smoothies. We were offered the option of whipped cream, which we accepted. The hot chocolate freeze was much enjoyed! The inside of the shop was very nice - it looked like it had some comfy seating and a nice bar area to sit at near where they were making the drinks. They have a nice patio with umbrella tables to the side of the building, which kept the area nicely shaded in the morning. There is a small parking lot available, with entrances/exits onto both Lane Ave and Northwest Blvd. We will definitely be keeping it in mind in the future! read more

Cool, comfortable looking coffeeshop with mediocre-at-best coffee. My Guatemalan pourover tasted decent but wasn't hot (and it's not like I let it sit there for 30 minutes; I ordered, sat down, and went to get it when it was ready). The berry tea was good. Prices aren't bad but oh my, 70 cents for non-dairy milk is excessive and was the reason my wife got a berry tea instead of a latte. It's not the money so much as the principle. I call it The Vegan Tax. 6.5 out of 10. Would prefer a different coffee shop next time but when you're passing by it and want some coffee, it's a decent decision. read more

Very quaint local coffee shop that I recently discovered by some friends. It's a very nice change of pace after always going to Starbucks. The drinks are very smooth and never overly too sweet. The crimson cup mocha is a great starter drink for anyone who has never gone. The upper Arlington branch also caters pop tarts from Happy Little Treats which is a nice addition! The interior design has a very homey feel to it which is a great place to get some work done since they provide free wifi. Baristas always get the orders made very quickly. Tried their Mango/Peach "Real Fruit Smoothie." This was definitely NOT real fruit. Furthermore it was absolutely disgusting. Both way too sour and too sweet if that is even possible. They may have good coffee (not sure since I've never tried it) and good service, but I would strongly recommend removing the smoothie from their menu. Had to throw it away after a few sips, and can't imagine anyone actually finishing it, let alone enjoying it. read more

Crimson Cup off Lane in Upper Arlington was a great experience! This particular location has a lot of space, a ton of seating, and plenty of outlets so you can charge your computer while you work or study. The coffee is delicious as well; I had a soy latte and it was a perfect mix of sweetness and espresso. Crimson Cup was the perfect place to grab a cup of coffee and get some work done on a Friday morning and I will definitely be back! read more

Great location! Good selection of drinks and they also have some pastries, and breakfast sandwiches, and some other snacks. I ordered the cinnamon sugar flat white which was amazing. It smelled like cinnamon toast and tasted just sweet enough. I would absolutely order it again. My husband got the golden bean turmeric latte. I've sat there and finally gone in to find they "cleared" it or my order or my coffee had been sitting there. I've given them 7 chances and disappointing they can't seem to make this work. The coffee here is great, and their beans are consistently among the best in the city. The Kossa is outstanding. They also offer a wide range of cold brew options, including a few on nitro. They also sell bags of beans here which are fresher than the ones you'll find in local stores. This place also makes legit some of the best muffins I've ever had. It's almost impossible for me to come here without getting one. It's also a great place to study or get work done. They have plenty of tables and outlets and the WiFi has always been strong for me. And it usually doesn't get too crowded so it's not difficult to find a table in the middle of the day. read more

I was planning to get a regular drip coffee rather than a fancy espresso drink, and ordered hand poured coffee instead, mistakenly thinking this was drip coffee. Anyway, it was a good mistake since I unknowingly tried a new type of coffee and loved it. Pour over coffee is supposedly better since the water temperature and stream consistency make a better balanced and flavorful cup of coffee. It takes about 5 minutes to brew the hand poured coffee so I would advise against this if you're in a hurry. Tried both the Kenya and the Myanmar hand pours. Both were packed with flavor and hit the spot. The Kenya one had earthy flavors and the Myanmar one had berry flavors. I personally liked the Myanmar one better and would definitely come back to order it again. They also sell pre-packaged coffee, which make good gifts for out of town friends/family since they are a Columbus based company. read more

Crimson, the newest contestant of the bucking electric bull-ride that is this building on Lane Avenue--taking over from the quickly defunct Pete's that took over from my dear departed Caribou, made a better mocha here than what I remember from their High Street location. Having ordered it several time at the Beechwood store I swear they've changed the formula for this particular drink. Which isn't beyond the realm of possibility, after all the Crimson folks dedicate themselves to helping independent coffeehouses thrive nationwide, and constantly look for areas to improve or change by doing so. I certainly need to return to the High location and order it there. This trip's Mocha fix was nice. It was thick and syrupy but not too much as I could taste the beans underneath. I like my mochas this way; though the understated smooth types are good for a change, (which I suspect is its authentic form) nothing beats this drink with a chocolate kick. Happily, it was consistent from top to bottom, no sip was different than the last, an imperfection that is all too common for chocolate lattes around town. No tenth of the cup was suddenly watery or choked with syrup. The milk mixed perfectly. I enjoyed it. Top three in the city if this quality is the norm. They have a comparably small selection of baked goods, but they do serve breakfast sandwiches; the menu listed four choices. The bacon smelled like Subway's, which is neither good or bad IMHO. The decor here hasn't changed that much save for the branding. The space is small. Two rooms separated by a wood framing and a giant white metal joist above the pathway. The backroom retains Caribou Coffee's trappings. The Rockie cabin feel, the fireplace, the log cabin wooly bearman aesthetics. Three fake leather chairs circling the fire, cozy on the arctic afternoon I visited. By the leather chairs are four tables with red plastic 1960s seating. In the foreroom is three more table and chair sets. Add the five high sat chairs at the bar, and three more as like under a counter at red leaf wall and you have all the seating here. Tight too is the parking lot, but with the closing of the neighboring Radio Shake parking space should be no issue. Seat availability is the only obstacle to five stars. It is a nice clean spot to chill, meetup, or work, with great coffee, if you can get a seat. read more

I'm very excited about the opening of the new Crimson Cup location in the former Peet's (and before that, Caribou) space on the corner of Northwest and Lane. It's always been a great coffeehouse spot with a pleasant patio area out front and a quiet work-friendly area in the back. If I'd known it was already open I'd have come earlier in the day and stuck around a while, but as it was, I was thrilled to find it there with two employees -- one with a veteran vibe, one with a rookie vibe -- behind the counter and a handful of customers standing around and talking coffee. The customer cluster was standing in front of the stack of menus, so I asked the barista if they had the same tea selection as they have in the High St shop. The answer was, "Everything but the jasmine, but that's temporary." They expect to get the jasmine in before long. The veteran walked the rookie through the hot-tea-to-go routine, and I wandered around the new interior while waiting. Comfortable number of tables and armchairs, a rustic brick-and-exposed-ceiling-pipes look, and a fireplace. The coffee veteran gave me my tea ("Two and a half minutes to steep, and it'll be ready to drink"), and I smiled to hear him telling the rookie the difference between green and black tea while I headed out. The patio has always been one of the great features about this space, particularly because of the trellis that hangs over the tables and offers a bit more shade than most completely open patios get. There are umbrellas on the tables, as well. What there aren't are trash cans. I sat at a table to let my tea steep but then had to go back inside to dump my leaves. The one slightly "off" thing about the new Crimson Cup is that so far it has a vaguely sterile, oddly ice cream shop-esque feel to it inside. For a brief moment I even wondered if they'd merged with Jeni's or something. But no, I think it was just the newness, combined with the almost-emptiness, combined with the clear counter case stocked with bottled drinks and cake pops, combined with the recognition that its personality is not likely to be identical to that of the original Crimson Cup, nor does it at all resemble the Peet's that was there before. It just needs some breaking in and an accumulation of regulars, who are likely to include both Crimson Cup fans who live closer to this side of town and former regulars of the previous coffeehouses that have rested in peace on this corner. I'll be here to help it start to feel homey. read more

I prefer this location over the Clintonville location. For some reason it seems more welcoming and there seems to be more space to sit. The staff is always friendly and helpful. I tried a pour over coffee here recently. I was asking the barista about pour over methods while I waited at the coffee bar area and watched her expertly craft my cup of coffee. It was a pleasant experience and the coffee was awesome. I haven't tried many of the fun drinks since I don't do sweet beverages, but I recommend trying different pour overs or cold brews from different regions if you're feeling fancy. I enjoy this particular Crimson coffee shop location. It has been updated recently and the décor is very neat. Coffee roasts are your traditional medium roasts mostly with perfectly balanced flavor. They occasionally offer dark roast and lighter roasts. Strong WiFi and adequate seating area. This location has its own bar seating area with high chairs/bar stools if you like that arrangement. I've seen a mixed crowd of college, young professionals, and older age group professional workers. The atmosphere is friendly and reasonably quiet; not too loud. Sounds cheesy, but I'm a fan of the electric LCD fire place. It actually feels warm sitting near it. Hmm.. Who would've thought! read more

I'm new to Columbus and always on the hunt for new coffee joints... Crimson seems nice but what the $%@# is going on with Cbus coffee shops and their lack of recycling? I know this seems to be my thing, but I asked for a cold brew for here (which was delish, btw) and I received a plastic cup, lid and straw -- and to my dismay no recycling bins in sight. It makes me so. twitchy. Please consider recycling, Crimson! Side note: this is the third coffee shop in a row that I've been to that doesn't have recycling. I don't get it :( /rant over I also ordered the very affordable breakfast sammich which resembled something made for a toddler but I was okay with that, I think. Visually unappealing but it hit the spot and for under $3... so I'm giving that a thumbs up. Interior was clean, spacious and plugs galore. Open, free wifi included.
