I'd say they're a mid to higher price nursery but you get the quality of plants, products, service…read moreand knowledge from employees. Growing up as a family we'd go to the Dearborn location. Now that I have my own place, it's convenient to have the Plymouth location. Each location has slightly different stuff so it's cool to check out both places for plants and ideas and Christmas trees!!! EG is the ONLY place I go for Christmas trees. The variety in species and size and quality is the best here. So much so, that for the last +20 years, my best friend and I go together to buy our trees. We make an afternoon of it. Walk around to check out trees, then walk through the store at all the accessories and decorations. Each year we always buy one new ornament. It's such a special tradition and I love that it's English Garden that we do it with.

We've worked with them twice, once when we planned and purchased materials for a paver patio…read moreproject, then again ten years later when we needed some upkeep and paver leveling done. Our first purchase with them went well and they were helpful with material estimates and planning. As for our second experience with them, it appears they were in a hurry to get the job done and the quality of their work fell short of our expectations. After calling them several times and explaining the issues with their work, we could never get them to come back out to address the problems. We were disappointed in the lack of customer service and the results of the work they did. It has taken an additional six hours of work to correct their mistakes. (Wrong color pavers used, failure to complete the job, use of substandard material, failure to follow up, etc.) I would not recommend them for paver work.

If you are mobility challenged then this may not be the place for you though. The ground is very uneven in the greenhouse and not spacious enough for standard wheelchairs in many of the indoor areas. Quoted 3400 for (low skill) landscaping, but when I asked for an itemized quote to determine how…read morethey priced each task, they wouldn't do it, claiming defiantly, "We are a business" like businesses can't or won't define how long a scoped task, like trimming 4 bushes or removing English ivy, or how many labor hours it would take. They also implied that putting more workers on a task would increase the price without taking into account any increased efficiencies. It felt like they pulled the number out of a black box and expected me to just accept it. Huge red flags.

The only thing looking good after the winter were two juniper trees. You get better customer service at Meijers garden center. They a least loaded the plants on my trailer. Imagine having to pull up everything they sold you. What a pain! Better to go to someone reputable.

If I still owned a house and could plant lots of flower beds or pots, I would enjoyed coming here for the prices and selection. They had wagons but when it is a busy time, you might have to wait for one. But I now live in an apartment that limits me to 2 pots or planters on the patio and 3 smaller pots by front door. I did find some plants but they didn't have a selection of pots to plant in. So if you have a house, this is a good choice, but if you live in an apartment and only need a few plants or pots, stay with full service greenhouses. I am still glad I came out.
