I will report that there is no smell inside this store. I have ordered Sausage w/Fennel, Ground Beef and Ground Pork mixed, and this store is the only store in the area that carries DiLusso Genoa Salami, which is the kind we eat. Paul and his two daughters are simply wonderful and can say this is a nice place to shop. Now I can say I have lived in Queens, NY for 20 years of my life and shopped at Ivarone Bros, I lived on Long Island and shopped at Del Fiore in Patchogue, NY, and now I reside in Cairo, NY and will continue to frequent DiStefano's. He rated them 3 star, which is to be expected. He has, in fact, earned his reputation as Demanding Dan. If I lived a bit closer, would be interested in trying a few other things. In my conversation with Mark, I learned that the business has been running for over 75 years. It is a small town, local joint. They don't specialize in fancy but they do specialize in QUALITY! I had no question that my meat was handled and prepared with the utmost professionalism and standards. Mark uses local farmers. This is very important to me. I chose to go to Hatfield Beef because I didn't want the pre-packaged, frozen, local chain store meat, or the over-priced meat from the co-op store down the street that uses the same local farmers! I was looking for quality fresh meat. Not only did I get quality, fresh, meat, I was greeted immediately by a friendly butcher who wanted me to leave with what I wanted. He even said to call ahead with any special order and he would be happy to accommodate me. SERVICE: A+ QUALITY: A+ Great local joint, Hatfield Beef is now my new meat provider.

But once that was sorted it has been pretty epic. Lots and lots of in-season fresh veggies, "market style" so you pick what you'll use more of, and the farm partners with a few places to offer some things they don't grow themselves (e.g. peaches). Pick up has been smooth and consistently easy. The only small downer has been the "pick your own" section in the lower fields. There's inadequate signage and a lot of times when we go to look for things on the week's board we can't find them or they are picked out. Once or twice l've seen other customers pick things not on the board which always makes us a little sad. This "added benefit" of the CSA has just mostly not worked for us. We had compost delivered by the farm once. Getting notified about the delivery took awhile, but once we were scheduled communication was clear and the delivered product has seemed to be excellent at helping our plants grow. Lastly, we have gone to the farm for pancake breakfasts with maple syrup. Go hungry! These pancake meals have been a good fit for our family: plenty to eat, casual and no frills, and tasty. We don't go regularly (because I can make pancakes at home) but it's a nice little splurge for a day when no one has to cook or clean.

Last weekend I had a feeling they would be at a different food expo. I was willing to go buy tickets to enter the expo just to see if they were there. Fortunately my hunch was right. They were there I ran over to them like we were old friends. Even gave me a hug. I knew I had to stock up on the spreads but the only lady I open for 3 months and 3 weeks once open. The 8oz pack is $8 and worth every penny. I settled on 2 -Maple Cheddars. This down come off sweet from the syrup but the flavor is addictive. I have some as a snack at night. I also bought 1 -Great Garlic Parm. The most kick you in the face with flavor. It's really potent and I find works best spread on good warmed Braided semolina Bread. Best thing to serve with your pasta dinner. This is a small family business who love their product and they should it's a great one. There are shipping fees obviously. They go higher in the summer since they need to keep it cold and costs more. I will be a customer for years to come.
