First off, the dog park is amazing. Huge with lots of space, separated areas for small and large dogs, agility play equipment, benches and the like. You must have a city dog license and it seems that access to the park is using an RF tag to open the gate. Nearby, an ADA compliant playground, fitness equipment and a disc golf course. And that's just half the park. On the other side, a regular playground with a splashpag, picnic shelters, a massive baseball/softball complex and walking trails and a mountain bike trail. The…read moresprawling fields go back deep into the park, and it's actually quite impressive the space they have to accommodate the unbelievable demand of an outlet of shouting parents. The big drawback is parking, as it is a mad house to try and fit hundreds of cars here for both weekday and weekend ball games. I certainly wouldn't expect paved, lined parking, but it's super crowded full of parents eagerly coming and going, so hold your little one's hand when you get out of your car!

Fairly new park with a winding gravel trail (but since it's new there's not much to see on the…read moretrail yet) tho u'll still get a good walking exercise out of it maybe with 3000 steps. Trail has a water reservoir in the midst of it. On the same side as the mini trail there's a cute woodsy kiddy park and a blue workout area where there are high n low platforms and hanging rings. Across the road is Carolina Courts. Next to it continues the Chestnut Square Park facilities: three lit tennis courts (no backboard), sand volleyball courts, and a football field (used also for soccer). They are all with lights.

With 6 hard courts and 3 clay courts, you can almost always get a tennis court reservation, and membership is offered at a very reasonable price. Great groups of ladies to play with, and organized clinics are also offered (Eric is a fabulous advanced tennis coach and I love our clinics) Pool area also looks like a lot of fun for kids and adults alike!

Lots of features and sporting venues including - two beach volleyball courts - two synthetic turf fields - one softball/multi purpose field - five tennis courts - two pickleball courts - a nine-hole disc golf course - three picnic shelters - four outdoor handball/practice courts - three horseshoe pits - children's playground; - paved walking path - one mile nature trail Some of the tennis courts and shelters are available for reservation through the city's Recreation department. There is a restroom facility here that was very useful and surprisingly clean. It has a lot of mountain biking trails, but we were just hiking. The lake is really pretty and some of the trails go right along it. I'm not sure if we followed an actual predefined hike, but I think we walked for about 4 miles which is pretty good for a Charlotte park.
