The members and instructors are fantastic. Management has excellent communication. When I first started taking classes here two years ago, I won't lie -- I was nervous. I was used to what I knew, dance-related workouts like Zumba and barre, so the idea of weights, rowing machines, TRX bands and battle ropes intimated me. How quickly my mind was changed by Michelle and her AMAZING team. Every class I've taken with a new (to me) instructor, he or she has made it a point to introduce themselves to me and check in to offer help, instruction, and/or modification. The FitRev team is incredibly welcoming, encouraging and motivating. The workouts are so effective and always different so you don't plateau. I am so much happier, healthier and stronger and love the variety of class offerings, including spin, boxing, barre, rowing, Bootcamp and more. I will also add that Michelle and her team have adapted beautifully to the challenges posed the the pandemic. I feel incredibly safe and cared for every time I step foot into the facility. Current offerings also include a virtual platform and the option to schedule your own private class with your "pod." There truly is something for everyone here! Give FitRev a try. You'll be glad you did!

Well, come on down to Collective Studios for the stationary bike ride of your life. Located quite literally next to a Planet Fitness in Londonderry, this upscale studio won't be serving slices of greasy pizza to people (like myself) pretending to workout on machines that are covered in Covid 37 and divorce. This is not your usual "I went to the gym for an hour, but I'm going to count my time in traffic as gym time" workout. The ladies of CS bring the Burn (or Flow) each and every class. As someone who enjoys exercise in concept only, I found myself being lapped by every single one of my classmates. I was a three legged horse at the Kentucky Derby, my only solace being the impending glue factory. That being said, my social anxiety and third-trimester-beer-gut were welcome with open arms at CS. They not only fit me with stylish shoes, but encouraged me to actually pedal when on the bike...and pedal we did! There was a great mix of both physical and mental workouts for the 45 minute session. While, as always, my tongue remains in my cheek with these reviews....I did thoroughly enjoy this experience! "Rita", the name of the helpful and way-too-in-shape instructor, brought energy, encouragement, and "good vibes" as the kids say. Thankfully for society, I don't think I'll be slipping into any yoga pants in the near future....But...I will be going again to Collective Studios. For the first time in a long time, I felt welcome and encouraged to step outside of my comfort zone. Mark this as my first (and let's be honest, only) gym review because I can't imagine having a better experience anywhere else.

The little "new" equipment appears to be purchased used. Overpriced, undervalued and poorly maintained. No new equipment ever, at best you get used equipment. And the owner does not reinvest properly to keep things up to date. Every week it's something different that's broken and it'll take weeks or longer for it to get fixed. But what really put it over the top was the fact that he's now charging every $50 a year as a maintenance fee. What maintenance? People are going down the street to planet fitness and they are paying $200 a year for brand new equipment in a brand new facility while he's charging $600 a year for broken down stuff. Edit - replying to owner's comments. COVID inflation has impacted everyone, including every member who pays. My bills have increased 40% since COVID, as has the bills of everyone I know. And that includes the cost of membership to HHF which has skyrocketed since COVID. It doesn't change that the value simply is not there. Down the street people are paying a 35% the price of a HHF membership for all new equipment, new facilities, and nearly 24 hours access. HHF has continually increased its membership fees year over year to the point where HHF is now within striking distance of the cost of memberships to premium facilities like Cedardale that include pools, basketball courts, all new equipment, tennis courts, working saunas, etc. As far as changing equipment goes, I will not dispute the claim regarding "selectorsized" equipment being updated 2.5 years ago. There's also a few refurbished elliptical machines replaced as well, not that they are really high quality machines. Folks I have spoken with only use them if the others are unavailable. But that's a relatively low percentage of the total equipment in the facility. There is much more equipment which are in need of replacement or, at least, better preventative maintenance: free weights are cracked or have rubber missing, step machines are old and break down frequently. Benches are too narrow or have broken/loose racks. The floor is uneven in several areas. It's not uncommon to find shims being used to keep wobbly equipment in place. I can't speak to what was done 25 years ago at HHF, and frankly I question how that is relevant to the value of the membership today. HHF provides facilities somewhere in the range of a discount gym but at 250% the cost of a discount gym. HHF is about 80% the cost of a premium facility, but provides nothing close to the facilities.
