Okay......YES!!!! I love this place! We came to get my friend a pie. She used to be local and said she still dreams of these pies. I ended up leaving with pies and cookies for me and my boyfriend too because everything looked and smelled so good. This place makes their pies,cookies, and other desserts (turnovers, cheesecake, just depends on the day what offerings are made). We found out they also do take and bake dinners and pizzas that the long time customers in line were raving to us about, so I definitely want to try! People were stopping in for pizza by the slice and other goodies. They also carry select home supplies, a few wines and beers, non alcoholic drinks, some jellies and jams that looked amazing.....ugh. This was my first visit to Cressman's on the way up to Shaver Lake. I wanted to stop by to see if it had been rebuilt. I originally saw reviews on Yelp while looking for local places to shop etc. I was saddened to hear that the original burnt down and hoped they had begun rebuilding. Sadly not yet. But I always try to support local businesses when traveling & wanted to stop in for gas etc. We stopped here twice. Once on the way up & then on our way back a few days later. The woman behind the counter is very friendly & kind. We bought local hot sauces, jams etc. I was surprised at the amount of interesting local goods & souvenirs they sell. The interior is small, since it's a container unit, but it's very well organized, clean and has a lot of great items. I hope they can begin rebuilding soon. The old place looked so charming & I was looking forward to freshly baked goods. Keep supporting them & maybe they will be able to build quickly! read more

What's not to like about Cressman's?! Come on, we all gotta root for the local guy! Need gas on your way up or down the hill? They got you taken care of. Craving a Snickers or little snack while you're driving? Give your business to Cressman's. We stopped by on our way home from a camping trip to pick up a couple tee shirts to show support for Cressman's. Small effort, I know, but what if we ALL stopped by for a tee shirt?! Can't wait to see them start rebuilding! I hope the new store has all those amazing bakery items they use to sell!! Anyway, back to the shirts. You could really just drive on by and not realize what a treasure is inside. Great place to stop, grab a cup of coffee and some cookies while visiting the area. I can see why this place has been in business ever since my family has been coming up here. This place is awesome, yummy breakfast burritos, sandwiches fresh cookies, fresh homemade desserts, fresh coffee, and good customer service. I recommend you fill your gas tank here, it's the cheapest gas in the Sierra National forest. It only takes me 12 to 15 minutes to get here from Camp Edison. read more

Passing by most won't think much of this place as it's usually one of those places conveniently right before you actual destination. You'll definitely run into and can't miss Cressman's General store on your way to Shaver Lake or China Peak and Huntington Lake. It's actually a nice little hidden gem. If you are going up here for the snow, Cressman's is a place to purchase your sno-park permit. It might be the first on the way up actually. This is where I stopped in and purchased mine. Staff was nice and smiles all around. Definitely makes you feel that good ol' "general store" vibe. Nothing fancy, nothing pretentious. Just real authentic cabin outdoor general store vibe. So the name of their place is definitely fitting. They have everything here to prepare you for your trip to the lake or for snow. Food, beverages, alcohol, gear etc. A lot of raves with their bakery items, sandwiches, and other food entrees. They make everything in house I believe and the other reviews speak for themselves. Can't wait to stop by again to try some of them. When you see Cressman's, it's a good indicator you are close to the Shaver lake. I prefer to stop here because its less cars then trying to maneuver right in the middle of town. Other than that there is a gas station and diesel and even a salon! I currently live in Santa Monica, but grew up in the central valley. Since COVID-19 hit, I've been staying in Fresno more. I've started to take a lot of drives, just to waste some time throughout the day and you better believe stopping at Cressman's bakery is a part of my routine. This place rocks! Reasonable prices, great food, and good people. This place caters to road crews, locals, and tourists alike. They have a little of everything and the food is great. I got a turkey sandwich on a wheat roll and have to say it was one of the best "subway" type sandwiches I have ever had, and that's not just the altitude talking! The bread itself was a highlight. It had a nice crust that was almost like a pretzel and the bread itself was the perfect balance between soft and hearty. The sandwich had a decent amount of meat, cheese, mayo.. well seasoned and tasty. Best of all was the price at under $5. I have a feeling the hot sandwiches are even better than the cold ones but I had to pack this one for later in the day.. Next time going for the tri-tip!! read more

I have a new standard against which all pie should be gauged. It's the Cressman Scale. That is, their show-stopping Razzleberry Pie. OK, I forgot which berries are in it, but I remember the owner of Cressman's mentioning blackberries, strawberries, and something else. It is simply to die for. They do not always sell this by the slice so you have to buy (and eat!) a whole pie. We did! Well, over three nights. The berry mixture is both tart and sweet. They did a wonderful job cooking the berries because even the strawberries had great texture and flavor. Your mouth gets to take a tour of the different and contrasting flavors of the berries. The crust is flakey and has that buttery taste that is truly comforting. Wow! So, a word about Cressman's. It's a funny little wide spot in the highway up to Shaver Lake. It has gas pumps and a funky general store that is crammed with everything you can imagine. Including, of course, a selection of pies. And the folks working there are friendly and helpful. Even if you are not in the mood for pie but you're in the neighborhood, stop by and say "hi". You'll be glad you did. Yeah, but you gotta try the pie anyway since you're already there! read more

Wow, totally awesome, Ken & I go there for Beer rocks, but this evening we went there for Country Fried Steak with Mashed Potatoes, wow!! A historical spot at the top of the four lane highway on way to Shaver lake and John Muir wilderness area. The owners have revived all aspects of this business to serve local and visitors. Gas is reasonable priced (for California) , basic foods, bakery, entrees, drinks that are hot and cold. Books and locally created music is for sale, along with jams and jellies.There is a part time salon, old barn that is open on weekends with locally made wood items. They are added a nice new bathroom this week for public (don't mess it up!!). There is usually a good amount of information that we can acquire about weather, fire and events going on up in mountains. For a view of the lookout the front door, is a webcam to check out if you need weather status(and roads). We really appreciate the work it takes to have a quality store:station. read more

I stop in almost every morning on my way to work and almost every afternoon on my way home because this place is that awesome. Don't believe anyone saying the snickerdoodle cookie is the second or third best they make. It's number one hands down. It's better than grandma's (sorry grandma). I live in Fresno and actually drive here for their baked goods. Wonderful cookies baked very well. Bumbleberry pie is excellent and they make their own delicious beer rocks too. My husband has talked about Cressman's and their baked good for years. Despite living about an hour away, I hadn't tried any of their treats. When my family and I stopped by this week, we were shocked at the selection of baked goods and variety of cookies, as well as the incredibly reasonable prices. We tried the salted caramel cookie, cherry turnover and brownies drizzled with white chocolate - all excellent! This little country store offers friendly service, well prepared entrees to go, sandwiches and all the normal stuff a small store would offer from snow chains to cold beer. The gasoline is priced reasonably, often less than the stations 15 miles down the mountain. The owners are very community oriented. They even allow their property and barn to be used for community events such as their Trade Days. And from what I've heard they do not charge a fee to participants for spaces to sell items... cool read more

Loved our two stops today. We bought a snow pass and got some insight from them for our trip up to the snow. I noticed the meat smoking on the grill out back. House made meals and baked treats? We came back a few hours later and bought some cinnamon rolls and cookies...omg everything g was epic. They warmed the cinnamon rolls and lathered w the best icing I have had in decades. How is it I have not stopped here before? Lesson learned. From now on I am stopping on my way to & from our cabin at Huntington. I can't say enough about the wonderful people that run Cressman's - so friendly. I wanted to try everything in the store and possibly will before summer ends. We stumbled upon this quaint little store while on our way to Dinkey Creek in Sept 2010. We initially stopped for gas but I peeked inside to see what kind of snacks they had (I had a few hungry kids in tow). I peeked in and was pleasantly surprised that not only did they have some yummy food but two of the nicest guys I had ever met. They provided us with some SERIOUSLY delicious tri-tip sandwiches, sold us some gas, and even manuvered our rented travel trailer for us (their motovation was probably to save their roof as we were pretty close) nontheless, we appreciated their kindness and hospitaility. We're heading back this week and we'll definately be stopping in for some tri-tip and good news...we bought our own trailer so we have a little more driving pratice under our belts! read more
