Trust is a big thing with my pets, and I trust all of the staff here 100 percent. They genuinely care about the pets and their customers. They are very knowledgeable and friendly. My dog was pretty sick this week, and they were fantastic. They made sure that she was 100 percent before returning her, and they took the time to call me multiple times every day to discuss the progress and to keep me in the loop. They also made sure to find the cause and gave me multiple solutions to keep it from happening again. I would recommend this vet to anyone, and I would drive even further if I had to. Would never take my dog or any future pets to any other vet. In particular I dealt with Dr. Andy Mencarelli and Dr. Bruce Stover. They were very patient with all my questions, and guided me to the best decisions. Fantastic practice all around!

When my dog was 3 months old she was always lethargic and low energy, wouldn't go for walks or anything. Would only eat and sleep and I took her to the Canmore Veterinary Centre after my old dog had died thinking I wanted to see how the other vet office would be. But after continuously taking her there the guy vet didn't know what was wrong with her and kept prescribing all this random medication that I don't know what it was and none of it worked so finally I got fed up and took her to the Bow River Vet Centre and right away when the vet looked at her knew it was tape worm. The female vet that looked at her even said that she couldn't believe that he didn't know from the looking at her (apparently tape worm secretes this white stringy stuff from the bum all the time). All that money wasted when I should have just stuck with the people i knew were good. The only reason I only give 4 stars is because the male vet that works at Canmore Vet Centre occasionally works at Bow River Vet Centre, but I know for a fact that all the other vets are amazing and I'm sorry to say I don' t know the name of the vet whom is terrible. But regardless I think that Bow River Vet Centre is amazing and I'm nervous to go anywhere else as I've moved to Vancouver and I would prefer to drive all the way back to Banff to take her to that vet centre if I could, but in case of emergency it would be better to have a vet where I live.

I was so happy at how well our situation was handled even though the small clinic was clearly not prepared for such an emergency. I brought our dog here for vomiting and not eating for about 2 days. He was given a conservative…read moreapproach medication and I was told to come back the following day if my dog will not get any better. I brought him back to the clinic like first thing the following day. They kept him for a day for blood work and xray to determine what's going on. There were recommendations including "possible needing surgery" but no conclusive diagnosis or urgent recommendation to justify the surgery. Not very sure if there's a foreign object in the intestine. To cut the story shirt, after a day of observation we transferred our dog to Trinity hospital, and the surgery was done right away upon the strong recommendation from the emergency vet based on her blood work, xray and assessment of our dog's condition, which according to the emergency vet is really bad. So were very disappointed about the way Cochrane animal has handled our dog's condition. 1 day of observation didn't help our dog's condition. I will not recommend this clinic. Observation is expensive.

When he woke up on Sat he was looking for food, wagging his tail and moving a little slow. Today is Monday the 23rd and he is himself. I appreciate the skill that it took to accomplish this. I can was hesitant to have this surgery on an older dog. They were very thorough in the pre-surgery tests and assured me he was in excellent health and would do well. They were right . They are always there to answer all your questions. From the time we checked our Koko in for surgery , the phone calls on her surgery and how she was doing, to pickup time later that day all the staff showed compassion and the care she had was like she was at home. The next day phone call to see how Koko was doing and if we had any concerns. Koko loves her toy she got when she was discharged from the clinic.

The staff genuinely cares for our cats and they can pick up on it. One of our cats, Tika, who used to freak out when going to the vet, actually likes going there and seeing the vet and the staff. Last year on Family Day, one of our cats had to be put down due to an illness that could not be treated or cured. Nikita was kept comfortable in every possible way and the staff's compassion was above and beyond anything I have ever experienced before. (We even got a sympathy card in the mail signed by everyone) They let us spend all the time we needed with Nikita beforehand, allowed us to wait a few days to pay as well as kept the carrier for a week, so we didn't have to go home with it so soon. The ceramic paw-print memorials are just beautiful. Thank you, Heartland, for continuing to provide such good care to our cats and us too!

This is such a good idea for nervous dogs, to get them used to the vet clinic. They send you cute cards in the mail as reminders for upcoming or past due services (like shots) and call after you come in for a service to check up on your pet. The veterinarian is honest, down to earth and super knowledgeable and experienced! What a great place!
