Hazelnut was great. Chocolate with hazelnut was not as creamy and more like a rocky road / ice cream consistency. Yes, we were craving hazelnut.

3.5 Stars Our local guide recommended this place to us after we came out of the Pantheon. We already had gelato earlier that day too! While in Italy, we had gelato everyday, twice a day (Milan, Venice, Florence, Rome, Sorrento)! So by the end of the trip, my husband and I felt like we were experts after so many gelato tastings! Anyway, this place was just okay. There wasn't that explosion of flavor we had expected after our guide had talked so highly of this place. It was actually a little bland. The consistency wasn't as dense as I like it either. Then again, it was better than anything I've had in California, but my review is in Italian standards. If you are by the Trevi Fountain, to the left of it (on the corner) is a place that has awesome gelato! I liked that place a lot better. It's next to a pizza place. (Although the pizza place sells gelato too...) But either way, you can't beat your surroundings! When in Rome.... :)

We stumbled onto Cremeria Monteforte after doing some shopping around the Pantheon area (we ended up buying some beautiful Italian leather handbags and a bunch of coffee products). We were looking for a gelato break before heading back to our hotel to drop off our goods and stumbled onto this spot. The gelato here is about the same price as other spots - usually 2-3€ for a small or medium size. I had the mango sorbet with the vanilla cherry gelato, which was absolutely delightful. I think it might be one of the best gelatos that I've ever had! The vanilla cherry was sweet and tart at the same time, with small cherries dispersed in the vanilla gelato. Service was on point and the end result is really pretty and perfect for an instragram shot! If you're in the Pantheon area, definitely check them out for a gelato break.

Second favorite Gelato place in Rome (after Gelateria La Romana). This was where my partner had his first gelato. It wasn't the cheapest gelato we had, but definitely less expensive than most that we encountered in Rome. We went twice. My partner had his usual coffee and chocolate gelato in a cup both times. I tried the noccio, nutella, chocolate, pistacchio etc. Delicious and we would definitely go back a 3rd time! Maybe 6....

Two days into our Rome holiday, I realised we hadn't had any gelato. Walking past the Pantheon and spotting Cremeria Monteforte was almost like a lightbulb moment! Service was friendly enough and super speedy; being situated in such a popular tourist destination, I'm sure they're used to their queues and having to feed many ice cream hungry visitors! You order and are served at the large ice cream counter then pay the gentleman at the till near the exit. Split into sorbets and gelato, the flavour options can be a tad overwhelming. However, the combination of not having had any gelato yet and always being in a slightly indulgent mood, I was quickly attracted by the chocolate flavours. The dark chocolate was a spectacularly dark shade (if a bit fake) but it was the Nutella and praline flavours that ended up in my cup. The other half had the mint chocolate chip, his favourite, and we spent a happy time sat at the fountain opposite the Pantheon with our scoops. Well priced considering how much ice cream can be marked up, they offer a range of cones and sizes, plus hot chocolate during the colder months.

This gelato was so amazing that I came back here at least 3 times during my 3 day stay in Rome. The staff were all so friendly and the ice cream was affordable. My favorite flavors are: cantaloupe, lime, and mango!

One of the best ways to admire Rome and people-watch is with a gelato cup or cone in your hand, and Cremeria Monteforte is the answer if you are near the Pantheon and its Piazza della Rotonda! Sure it's next to a popular tourist attraction, but that doesn't stop Monteforte from serving stellar gelato! With a decent-sized selection of classic flavors, you can't really go wrong. Plus, each portion comes with huge scope at the standard Roman price of 2.5 EUR for up to two different flavors, so if you are craving for gelato and want to rest near the Pantheon, grab an order of gelato from Monteforte and sit down at the foot of the fountain to enjoy the Pantheon scene! --- tl;dr version: 1) Best place to get a gelato near the Pantheon 2) Huge scoops for standard price

This place came highly recommend by my aunt and uncle. They got to know the owner while they were visiting Rome a few years ago and gave me the picture to bring when I went on my trip to Rome! Each time we stopped by though, it was closed (I think for the season). On our last night in Rome, they opened up again (it's like it was meant to be!) The owner was SO friendly and remembered my aunt/uncle when I showed him the picture. They have so many delicious flavors of gelato and it's right near the Pantheon so there's no excuse not to try it!

Best Gelato in Roma. Anyone who doesn't like this place doesn't know Gelato. Very reasonably priced too.

The gelato here is one of the best we had, and we tried so many different places. Kept coming back to this place. Loved it.

In a city full of gelato, this is a mediocre example. The chocolate tasted artificially flavored. Go elsewhere.

A good cremeria, specialized in creams and soft ice creams, which are very good and tasty. The zabaione semifreddo is simply awesome!

Expecting it to be there one year, I walked over to Piazza Navona and Gelateria Navona had evidently closed. I would then get gelato here and there. I then learned that Giolitti is a long standing gelateria and it's also in the historic center. I filed the name away in my head. Then, one day, I happened to walk right in front of it without even looking for it, so I went in. Giolitti is popular and it can be crowded. I'm going to say that I waited about 10 to 15 minutes. You pay at a counter first, deciding on what you want and how much of it, such as scoops and whether it will be in a cup or a cone. Once up at the counter, they don't rush you, which surprised me. I don't take that much time since I don't experiment much, but I still appreciate the courtesy. The price is roughly what everyone else in the historic center is charging. I always opt for the gelato it in a cup so you can "control" the dripping. The gelato - a mix of dark chocolate and two citrus flavors - was "molto buono." That said, just because it's so popular, I'm not going to downgrade Giolitti for it and complain about the crowds. You downgrade gourmet donut places in the U.S. where their fame has gone to their heads. There is also a spacious salon with nicer decor in which you can eat inside. At this point, Giolitti is really the only gelateria in Rome whose name I remember. I would gladly go back and I recommend it.

Tucked along the lively streets of Trastevere, this little spot delivers gelato with genuine craftsmanship and flavors that taste as authentic as the city around you. The first thing you notice is the freshness. Each flavor looks vibrant--not overly piled or artificially glossy--and you can tell everything is made with real ingredients. One spoonful confirms it: the gelato is creamy, smooth, and beautifully balanced. The fruit flavors burst with natural sweetness, especially the mango and strawberry, while the classics like pistachio, hazelnut, and chocolate showcase that rich, deep, true-to-ingredient taste that only well-made gelato can achieve. Their specialty flavors are equally impressive--unique without feeling gimmicky--and everything is served at the perfect temperature so the texture stays silky, not icy. Portions are generous, prices are fair, and the cones have that fresh baked aroma that adds an extra layer of enjoyment. The staff is warm and welcoming, happy to offer suggestions, and patient even when you're debating between ten flavors that all look incredible. The atmosphere reflects Trastevere itself--relaxed, friendly, and full of character. If you don't know what real gelato should look like check my photos. First it shouldn't be piled high into mountains. Secondly the colors should be natural. The banana and pistachio gelato in my photos are perfect representations. On to the tasting! My tour included one cone and I got two scoops of pistachio and licorice. We said our goodbyes to the tour and the gelato was so good I wanted more. We ended up getting an affogato and a few more scoops in a bowl the second time. This was very close to where Julius Caesar was assassinated so we walked over and checked it out. When done I couldn't resist and had to go back a third time as I really wanted to try the orange gelato. The owner laughed as he couldn't believe we were back again. The orange was so good!
