I am proud to be a Certified Professional Bartender with confidence to continually improve my craft. Not only that, but I made friends and connections at the Academy and the staff are excellent. The Academy also offers other industry continuing education classes, including proctoring the four-year valid responsible serving certificate test. The perks of being an alum are great as well; it's similar to joining a guild, in my opinion. You can even apply for a 'Cocktail Copyright' through them!

The instructor clearly knows what he's talking about and is more than happy to facilitate actual learning instead of just talking at you for two weeks. That said, the place lacks A LOT of polish you'd expect to get for the $400ish price tag. Only one of the sinks in the school actually works and the handles run into the bottom of the bar when you try to turn the water on. Bottles and other resources are often not filled or prepared before students arrive, meaning the materials needed to practice are often low or not available as students actually find themselves in need of them. The practice sour mix was made with pinesol, which was just revolting to work with, and it's in a lot of the drinks you'll learn. The textbook has spelling and formatting issues on just about every other page & the instructor has you correcting recipes at the back of the book by hand every single class period, and the "job placement service" is just a private Instagram where he takes screen captures from bars and restaurants around the Baltimore area and re-posts them. Marcus couldn't even print the certificates of completion for my class without there being a noticeable skew to the text. Everything just smacks of not really caring about presentation, which is ironic given the kind of work it's supposed to be preparing you for. I've got an interview later this week for a bar tending position, so we'll see if this actually helps, but in my opinion, this program walks the line between being a scam and not. I took a class like this before when I was living out of state, and I have friends that took the MD bar tending academy class when it was still in business, so I have some experience with what this sort of program should be offering. This isn't bad, but it's just a far cry from what it could, and arguably should, be. Also, Marcus desperately needs to brush his teeth, drink more water, and maybe pop a couple of altoids.

We had the opportunity to select our mystery based on the number of participants. We opted to do a one actor mystery centering around a masquerade ball. The actor arrived early to our private venue with such a fun and positive attitude. He took the time to understand our dynamics which was helpful in designating who would play which roles. We were provided props that included costumes and information about the role we were chosen to play. Please note, we are a chatty, free spirited group of ladies that love to fellowship. The actor managed to go with the flow and keep us somewhat focused and on mission...which was to solve the murder. We had a five-star good time. We all left with plans to do it again. If you want to do something outside the box with a get together of friends, colleagues, or family, I highly recommend TMMC. I wish I could show pics of the fun we had. Happy murder solving!

I expected more creativity and attentive to guests. However, the party assistants were terrible. They moved very slow and did not complete an one hour job that was alloted two hours to complete. Also, they did not clean up after a job and just left the area without notification. I complained to barsphere and they apologized and offered a 50% discount on the party assistants. However, there is no second chance to make a first impression. You get what you pay for. Hire at your own risk.
