Aside from the academics and personal growth, the school offers enrichment courses including Spanish, computers, music, drama, PE and art that are included in the curriculum. Because this is part of the regular curriculum, your child really has the opportunity to build on these extra activities since it is included in their program all the way through 8th grade. Another advantage of choosing a school like St. Albans is it is a small school, everyone gets to know your child very well (both students and faculty), which makes it a very comforting environment for your child to grown up in. You can be assured that no student will "fall through the cracks" at St. Albans and you will find that they truly want what is best for your child and will help them reach their full potential. The head of school always puts the needs of the children first. The school is very lucky to have her. She is intelligent, knowledgeable, hard working and very involved in all that goes on with the school. Mrs. Bernauer sets the bar high for both the students and the school, which is what makes St. Albans continually grow and meet the highest of educational standards. Our family feels that we have made the best choice in choosing St. Albans for our children's education. A damaging experience I would never repeat…read more I am deeply sorry to hear that children are still having experiences similar to what my son endured at St. Albans more than twenty years ago. Our family's experience with the school could not have been worse. What we were told during the enrollment process did not match the reality we encountered. In addition to tuition, families were expected to make substantial financial contributions and fulfill significant volunteer-hour requirements. As a single parent, I was unable to meet all of those demands. As a result, I felt my son was singled out and ostracized--not by the other students or their parents, but by the school administration itself. My son was labeled "too active." In his class, I felt that boys were often judged more harshly for displaying normal childhood energy, while children who could immediately sit quietly and conform were treated as the ideal. Although my son was not expelled, I ultimately and willingly removed him because I believed the environment had become toxic and damaging to his confidence. In my experience, school officials were unwilling to work constructively with children who did not fit their narrow definition of the "perfect student." The culture felt arrogant, inflexible, and dismissive of individual differences. The academic expectations were also unreasonable. No fourth grader should routinely be assigned three to four hours of homework each night. I was also extremely unhappy with the poor-quality, unhealthy food served during after-school care. My strongest advice to parents is to find a school that leads with kindness, patience, compassion, and a genuine willingness to support each child as an individual. Based on our family's experience, St. Albans was unequivocally not that place.

Also, the school makes you pledge to the bible, the Christian flag, and the American flag, which felt like it bordered on Christian nationalism since you do them all in order, but do with that as you will. The visual arts are kinda lackluster, and sports are very favored at that school. To be fair, a lot can change in nearly 3 years; this is just my experience. My children's two teachers are great and they love going to school. The campus is also nice with a great big blacktop for the kids to play on, a field for soccer and a small playground. The school has a pretty seamless drop off pick up system considering the tons of kids that have to get picked up. I like the curbside drop off especially when the weather is bad. They have had some fun extra curricular activities like the Father Daughter dance, fall harvest festival, winter pancake breakfast and numerous field trips for the kids. We absolutely love Rocklin Ranch Montessori. I really think it is one of the most beautiful and…read morethoughtfully designed Montessori schools in the greater Sacramento area, definitely in Roseville, and honestly for me one of the best in Northern California. When I say beautiful, I mean the materials the children get to interact with every day are next level. Everything feels so intentional, carefully chosen and really aligned with the Montessori method. Our daughter has attended Rocklin Ranch Montessori from 16 months old through age four, with some pauses along the way while I stayed home with her and later had two more girls. But we have always come back to Rocklin Ranch, and Aman and the teachers who have had our girls have been excellent. One of the best parts of the school is the communication. They send daily updates, especially for children in the 16 month to 3 year age range, and weekly photos. Their newsletter is wonderful and keeps parents updated and it is so special to regularly see photos of your child with their friends throughout the week. They also have a great skills chart where they track what your child is learning and working on. The outdoor play area and playground are gorgeous. There is a beautiful little garden and outdoor space where the children get to eat lunch and the whole environment feels sweet, calm and thoughtfully cared for. I also really appreciate that the children have the opportunity to nap for up to 2.5 hours, which is such a gift for young kids. They also have an option for the girls to play soccer during the day, which has been really great for our family and has simplified the need to put them in an extra soccer program after school or on weekends. Their pick up and drop off hours are also extremely flexible which has been so helpful for us. We currently have two daughters enrolled in Montessori and one of the sweetest parts is that they get to see each other during the day. That has honestly changed childcare for us, just knowing that they are both there together and near each other, instead of totally separate all day. Most importantly, Rocklin Ranch actually adheres to the Montessori method in a peaceful, organized and intentional way. For our family it has been so worth it.

We had just moved cross…read morecountry and were dealing with a lot--unpacking, adjusting, husband starting a new job, etc. We have an older son who was going into 1st at the time. Rocklin Ranch accepted our son, but had us ramp into a full day care very slowly. Like an hour a day at first. I've never had this experience--neither of my 2 boys ever had such a slow transition period across 3 other day care programs between them. This was frustrating as I my husband and I work full time and paid for full time care but the director, Aman, kept saying he wasn't ready. He was crying too much and it was disrupting other kids. Once he was adjusted things seemed to be going fine, with some comments about rowdy behavior or getting up during circle time from his teachers. We said we'd work on it and both sides acknowledged is was developmentally normal but something to work on at school. His teachers seemed fine working with him on this, but the director, Aman, constantly talked about how disruptive he was. My son was put on probabtion by the director despite a good parent teacher conference. In fact, his teachers were incredibly good natured about my son's "disruptive" behavior and we even shared a laugh over one of the more ridiculous things he did. We would check in all the time and his teachers reiterated to us that he was rambunctious but normal, one teacher said he was just like her nephew and she knew how to work with a kid with his temperament. But then, when this teacher was out of town ... and my son acted up a little cause his favorite teacher wasn't there ... the director, Aman, called and told us he was being kicked out and we had something like 2 weeks to find other care. Not only was this really disruptive for everyone, it was just sad. My perfectly normal toddler was acting like a toddler and was rejected from a school for doing so. It was definitely for the best--he went to another school and thrived and we all made good friends there. But I will never forget how bad this experience was with Rocklin Ranch and I will let anyone I know considering that school not to go there.
