All I have to say is research, research, research your artist before going under the needle! First off, I had made an appointment and got there 10 minutes early, only to have to wait almost a full hour before getting started - and he wasn't even tattooing someone else either, he was on a "break." Helloooo, we had an appointment. This should have been my first clue. The artist hadn't even started my sketch up even though we went through it a few days before. Anyways, to make a long story shorter than I already have, I didn't end up being stoked on my artwork - which I realize is mostly my fault. The artist and I were't on the same page about what I had envisioned and I settled. BUT, I have scar tissue and the tattoo did not heal like it should have, which is not my fault - this is due to bad tattooing technique. Thanks, it's only on my skin FOREVER. But thankfully, I got a referral to see Rick at Gold Coast, and he fixed my shit up! Thank goodness too cause I was pretty damn depressed about this permanent "art" that was on my skin. Rick totally free handed some more design around it and turned it into an epic piece. Maybe other artists there are better, but I just have to recommend you do your research before putting something permanent on your body. Make sure you're clear about what you want - even try to have your own artwork before hand. Better yet, talk to people and get referrals. Don't get tattooed until you KNOW the artist knows what the fuck they're doing. I do have to say the artist was super nice and cool to chat with... But that doesn't change the fact that he scarred my shit up didn't tattoo me well. read more

Just going on customer service alone: this place sucked. Visited 3 times over a week period and was only able to talk to some one once. The other two times we waited for 30minutes with nothing more than a "hello," It's as if they didn't want my money. Maybe we were treated like ghosts because we had our son, but mommies and daddies need ink too! On another note, I listened to an artist try to down sell a tattoo, telling a woman who wanted a half sleeve, that her design would take too long. After she acknowledged that she was fine doing multiple sittings he continued to tell her that it was going to "take a while". It was a memorial tattoo for her sister who had passed..... It didn't seem to master if it took a year! She just wanted the DAMN tattoo and the dude keep talking about the amount of time it would take. I get that it is a lot of work, but if you're not down for the job- don't try to change the customer's design. read more

I got my nose pierced out of the blue... It was more part of a going away festivity I guess. My youngest sister took off th Brazil to study for 6 months to a year... we were supposed to get them done together and have a hol-e-day but she ended up getting her's when she was up in SC one day. So she took me in and asked if she wanted me to have her hold my hand and I'm like , "No gracias" so not my style. The little shit just wanted to see me in pain. It was a good pure minute of solid pain and apparently I made the funniest face ver because she was on the floor cyring from laughing so hard for a good 3 or so minutes. The gentleman that pierced my nose ( Cody I believe) was super professional and thorough. Telling me everything I needed to know and then some. I had the pleasure of having Brian work with me. I already had 5 piercings per ear and I went to get my 11th and 12th from Brian. I got a tragus and a lobe piercing. I had never been to a tattoo parlor before to receive a piercing, and this experience was wonderful (much better than any of my 10 other piercings). I went into Creative Visions on my trip to Monterey from New York. It was for my first tattoo and after I had just had a really bad experience in San Francisco with an artist who drew something 4x the size than what I asked for and pressured me into getting it. He refused to draw it smaller and was very heavy-handed with my husband when he did his tattoo after I said that I would not be getting mine. I was set on getting a tattoo on my trip so I looked up shops in Monterey and walked in with no appointment or reference for a tattoo artist. Adam walked up to me as soon as we came in and was very open and accommodating. I explained to him what I wanted but also told him about my reservations after my previous experience. We talked about the direction of the piece and made an appointment for the next morning, he was very enthusiastic to work with me and extremely professional. I was very happy to come in the next day to exactly what I wanted and got my first tattoo. He was friendly and informative before, during and after the work was done and I LOVE the results! Besides being a great artist he is a genuinely nice guy and what a difference that can make. The space is also beautifully designed, decorated and clean, a trifecta for a body work studio. I was looking to get my cartilage pierced, so I checked out the reviews on here. I saw that Cody at Creative Visions was amazing, so I called to set up an appointment and get more information. Cody answered and was incredibly knowledgeable and helpful, so I decided to go in the next day (today!) I've had a number of piercings before, on my face and ears, but it's been a while since I've had a piercing. I was so nervous! But Cody was absolutely incredible. He explained EVERYTHING I needed to know, and was SO kind and helpful. I'm a stickler for customer service, and this guy gets two thumbs up. I would contemplate having an extra thumb surgically added so I could give him three thumbs up. I can't attest to the tattooing there, but Creative Visions has one of the best, if not THE BEST, piercer that I've worked with. Just go here, seriously. Oh, and there's no spot to tip if you use a credit card, so if you want to tip him, tell him to add it right away. I reran my card because I got the slip and there was no room to tip him. Creative Visions Does Not Care About You, So Don't Bother With This Place... I walked in to consult with an artist/owner Sean, who had been recommended to me by friends. I had expressed to him what I wanted and that I was very eager to get started. He said he would have a drawing ready for me in a week. After two weeks passed, I called Sean and reminded him who I was and what I wanted. He assured me again that he would have a drawing for me within the week. So, another two weeks passed. I called again and he was on vacation. I spoke to Raphael and told him I was not happy with the lack of communication from the shop. He was apologetic and assured me that Sean would call the following Monday and that of course customer service and attention were a priority at Creative Visions and not to worry-nice guy, but was he ever WRONG. So, AGAIN another week passes and no word from anyone. I call again and spoke to someone else, not Sean, not Raphael-at this point I was very offended that my business was clearly unwanted by these creeps. He listened and said perhaps if Sean could not bear the agony of helping me as he said he would, that another artist from Creative could work with me. Not what I wanted-to be passed off to someone else because I was not important enough-really guys? As if that is supposed to make me feel better? The bottom line is that this place does not care about new customers and will give you major lip service and a headache to go with it. What is wrong with you guys Creative? I have been going to Creative Visions for a few years now. Sean is by far the best artist I have ever had the pleasure of letting ink my skin. I had gotten a few tattoos prior to coming to Creative Visions and after letting Sean work on my most recent piece I will never let another tattoo artist touch my skin. If I want something done, Sean is my guy. The shop is clean, the staff is professional and if you have a long session, enjoy playing PS3/Xbox 360 or watching a blue ray to pass the time. Prices are VERY reasonable and I always feel I'm getting out much cheaper than I should have, usually lower than what I was originally quoted. I love this place. I recently was pierced by Cody and it was by far the greatest piercing experience I have ever had. I had an apadravya done and was extremely nervous. He was amazing and put me at complete ease. He saw my nerves and did everything he could to help make me relax. His breathing techniques were incredible. He uses all internally threaded jewelry for piercing, and had everything autoclaved and sterile. The procedure was quick and surprisingly not painful at all. He changed his gloves a handful of times and even used one in a nifty way to bandage my piercing before I left in case of bleeding. Every tip he has given me for aftercare has only proven further that he really knows what he is doing. I would recommend him with 100% confidence. I made an appt with Brandon for a smaller black piece and had no trouble getting in on a Sunday for about 2hrs work. He spent time helping me figure out what angle to put it, going over how it may change over time due to body changes as we age and how the lettering may smash together. I was fine with all of this. He was friendly and we talked about lots of great stuff while he was tattooing me. I've had many done before but this was my first time with a new artist in 10years and was alone (as a mid 30s female) and felt very safe, educated on the tattoo healing process, and pricing was perfect. When I lived in Seaside Creative visions was my place to go. I have had a handful of piercings done there and 2 of my 3 tattoos done. Cody the piercer was always a crack up and really awesome guy to talk to. My tattoo guy was Ross and honestly for me being a first time tattoo recipient he made my experience so awesome. My first tattoo with him was the Avenged Sevenfold logo (Deathbat) across my shoulders....yes you can laugh now but I have been a fan of the band since I was nine and I got the tattoo when I was 18. The tat has amazing detail and to this day I still get compliments. My second tattoo was a little more then a year later, I wanted the two flags of my parents nationalites below my Deathbat. First one was the flag of Norway and once again Ross nailed it. Since those 2 tats I moved to back to my home town of San Diego but I plan on going back up to finish my back with Ross. read more
