Bad tattoo, unprofessional staff-(please read the whole thing)- I wanna start off this by saying this has nothing to do with Kenny. I just moved to the area I was looking for a new tattoo artist, Ive never met him or had a tattoo done by him but I love his work that ive seen on his Instagram. And that's why I scheduled an apt to get a tattoo done by him. I was emailing who I thought was kenny for a couple days(the name on the email said kenny Curtis) and I was very excited to get my biggest piece I've ever had done, on my hip. When I arrived to my apt I was greeted by a woman who I'm assuming is one of Kenny's employees. I was a little uneasy and taken back and asked where kenny was and she told me she was the one who had been emailing me and "sorry for not telling you". I was hesitant but the design is simple one, black line work and I decided that I was eager to get it done and I'd just go through with it. I have never been too picky about who does my tattoos because I've never had a bad one before, so, I wasn't too worried. I've never had a tattoo done in a painful spot before so I didn't know what to expect I just knew it would hurt. She was very nice throughout the process but it was very painful, I didn't need to take breaks but I assumed that's normal. I let her know about the pain and we continued. The tattoo looked fine from my view and she finished it, it took pretty long for what I was getting but it didn't bother me and I didn't think anything of it at the time. She immediately put a wrap over it and I paid and left. Soon after I got home and took the bandage off to clean it I realize there's a lot of jagged lines where there should be straight, and a lot of places where it looks like the lines don't connect and she made a mistake. And not only are the lines extremely thick and blended together but the tattoo was super raised as time went on. Now fully healed it's extremely raised still and clearly was done far too deep in the skin. This tattoo was a design of mine and it meant a lot to me and it's just really sad to look at it everyday and see what can't be fixed. The lines are so thick that I don't know if it could be fixed and there's so much scarring I don't know how painful it would be to fix. I obviously should've trusted my gut and left but I still feel so sad about it and wish things went differently. I've felt at fault for a while now thinking of things I could've done to prevent this thinking I should have never gotten a tattoo done by anyone but Kenny. But the reviews were good and I just did it. That's why I haven't said anything until now but I felt other people deserved to know before going to get a tattoo at this establishment. I wish that I could go back in time but I guess that's the risk you take when you get a tattoo from a new artist. I would attach a photo but I'm too embarrassed to. Kenny is the man! I've known Kenny a long time and got a ton of work from him the last 6-7 years. I started getting tattooed when I was 17 and got a ton of crappy tattoos when I was young and just wanted ink. I've spent the last 7 years or so getting most of them fixed or covered up by Kenny. He did a portrait of my dog and he blew it out of the water! It was my first color piece ever and I love it. Now as someone who has a bunch of tattoos I can say that he is FAST and has a LIGHT hand. I'm absolutely in LOVE with my new tattoo! I'm one of those annoyingly detailed OCD types..... I was so worried I was trying to pack 10lbs of shit into a 5lb bag.... I wanted to make sure the "look in her eyes" was captured. Worried about the hands (I've seen some alien lookin mitts) stressed about the color...... All for no reason. This piece is amazing. I have wanted it ever since I was young and first wanted a tattoo (this is now my 9th) and just haven't gone for it because I didn't want something flat. I wanted an amazing piece of art. Provide just enough guidance so that you get what you want, but allow her to interpret the piece in her own way, as much as possible. She won't do you wrong! She had less of a heavy hand than I experienced with other artists. We had great conversations about world travel, the environment, and ayahuasca! Before I knew it, we were done. This place is clean got a few re peircings here, Got a tattoo from one of the girls there and once it healed it all blended and it totally looks like shit. I'm so disappointed because what she drew was great but on me its all uneven, ears and tusks arnt the same size it's pretty small and took about 2 1/2 hours . I won't go here again but now I have to get it retouched but I've been scared to see if it can be because it's so blended together :/ I would say stick with the big man here if ur going to get tattoos and the lady who does nose piercings other the. So it seems that most or all of the reviews for this place are very good....i wish i could give a good one. i barely even do reviews but im so pissed... so, ive gotten service one other time here. i got my nose pierced by penelope. it was all fine. no problem... so i figured, why not try a tattoo with them. i walked in and wanted a detailed piece but it was too short notice to get the same day (which i completely understood), so i decided to get a tiny symbol... i asked for an ankh on my finger. Iris stated that it may or may not stay on my skin as tattoos dont always stay on the hands... i understood and we proceeded. the tattoo was literally two small lines and a loop. she charged $70. the tatt is half of an inch long... its like, i understand its a shop and they can charge what they want buuuuut that was a dick move. what makes u think ill return when u overcharge like that.....and then on top of that....my tattoo is fully healed and looks like shit, it stayed on my skin but the lining was so bad.. and u have nerve to charge that much like your work is top notch lmao. i thought it was from other pics i saw but guess not. i dont know what happened here.... i took my loss and paid her but ill never step foot in there again. sucks. read more

After looking for the right design for over 10years, I finally found what I had long desired, and it was now just a matter of finding the right artist to make it real. I went to EVERY single shop in Monterey county, only to be given false hope and empty promises. No matter who I went to see, no one I talked to had the professionalism that I demanded, or deserved, in order to have a design that is large and by default needed to be exact. Then I called and made an appointment with Miss Iris. Let me tell you folks, she is the bomb, just as advertised. A complete professional who worked on my design for three days, making the changes I desired without a problem, and completing the sketch in flawless manner. Her manner is professional, as she is direct and always to the point, she is very meticulous in her prep and placement, and her insight into design and symmetry are outstanding. While she is the shop apprentice, her work IS NOT of an apprentice level, but that of a soon to be legend, as my tattoo is something that I look at an smile at each and every time. Kenny himself stepped in to check things out a couple times, and it was clear that he and Iris have a great relationship, which is another point that i value. The shop itself if on the small side, but I found that to be a cool thing, and the staff is both friendly and were always professional as well, both times that I came in. Bottom line, I will be back, I will get more work, and it will be done by Miss Iris. read more

I had Kenny do a redo/cover-up of an older tattoo done at the iron crown that turned out awful. I spotted Kenny's work on the beach, a vibrant side tattoo on a gentleman running his dog and I asked about it and was recommended to him.. I went in a little gun shy (pun intended) because the previous tattoo from iron was hugely painful, got heavily scabbed, and bled profusely. After speaking with Kenny, I made an appointment and came in about a week afterwards. I told him he could have artistic freedom to fix and make my old tattoo better/gone whatever! He drew on me with sharpies blending the colors to show me what the final product would look like.. It was great - so I told him he could proceed with the ink.. The tattoo process was quick, he made me comfortable, he was very light handed; playing attention when he'd hit a sensitive area, giving it a brief pause.
