I came in originally to see if my septum had closed, and JC was very informative and helpful during that visit. Unfortunately, it had closed, so I came back after traveling to get it re-pierced. When it came time for the actual piercing, I honestly panicked. I really wish there had been a clear warning before he started. It felt like he went in without saying anything, and that was a big deal for me because I was not mentally prepared at all. Most piercers usually give a heads up so you can brace yourself, and since that did not happen, the whole moment felt a lot more intense than it needed to be. The piercing itself turned out fine, but the lack of communication made it a rough experience. read more

Came in with my girlfriend for simple line-work tattoos. The artist was nice at first, but his whole attitude changed when I asked if the $120 quote was for both or each. I wasn't trying to haggle and was fine paying $120 each, but he suddenly got defensive and rude. My tattoo went fine, but when it was my girlfriend's turn, he rushed the stencil placement, got annoyed that it was crooked, and talked down to her even though she was doing exactly what he'd asked. After finishing, he put Tegaderm on that immediately started lifting. When I gently tried to help her pat it down, he snapped at me about "cross contamination" -- over touching the outside of the bandage. Meanwhile, he'd touched the inside with his bare hands. The tattoos turned out fine, but the way he treated us was completely uncalled for. You can be a good artist and still have basic respect for your clients. read more

I came in for my first tattoo a few weeks ago on a whim. I wasn't really sure what to expect but I had a design ready and wanted it on my body. The first person to greet me was my guest artist, Kyle Oubre. He was pretty chill and made me feel confident about getting my ink. I sent him the palm, sized image and he spent about 35 minutes drawing it up on his iPad. It wasn't a very complicated design so I didn't think it would take quite as long to trace. The workspace was clean and tidy, everything was sanitized properly, and Kyle and another artist chatted with me about getting my ink while he set up. The process was quick and relatively painless, took exactly an hour and I was stoked with the immediate result. Kyle put saniderm on my fresh tat after cleaning it and I wish he hadn't after learning that I'm ALLERGIC to the adhesive, but not a big deal. When all was said and done, I went to check out and found that it was $260 hourly rate!!! I happily paid because, again, I didn't know better. Fast forward two weeks to healed, I've noticed some slight blowout in some lines of my tattoo, as well as some scarring caused by going over one of the lines too many times. It's not horrible, but after getting more black line work done by other artists, I realized Kyle kind of screwed up what should've been a simple design and it does not look good enough for what I paid. TL;DR Not horrible, not great. Overpriced all considering. If you want any stencil and black line work done locally, I'd recommend Wave Street Art Collective. Daniel did a spectacular job on my arm and charges HALF the hourly rate for BETTER work. read more

So disappointed in my experience tonight. I have a handful of tattoos from Gold Coast, 4 actually friday the 13th tattoos. Today I went in and put my name on the waitlist, and was told most likely I would have to come back tomorrow. I got a message around 830 telling me to come in. There was 5 or 6 people ahead of me and if they call my name anf I dont answer I will be skipped. So I go in, and get Jim as my artist. I told him my story- grandpa just passed and how I wanted a red solo cup with a bee in his honor on my back. He immediately tried telling me not to get it on my back. I told him the bigger idea, how I have my family tree going, and everyone who has passed has their own piece, and eventually I wanted to wrap a tree around all the tattoos, making a family tree. He still suggested I do not get it on my back because of the healing process and asked if I could come in tomorrow. I explained the tattoo is going on my back, and I will take my shirt off and hang my brastrap and be fine healing. I am aware of the sensistivites of the lawsuits from the past, and like I said, I have several tattoos from here, all of which I love. So I could see why anyone would be uncomfortable with my shirt being off, but I was covered none the less. He asks if I have a photo, I show him what I spent an hour on canva mocking up, and he says he has to draw it up. I asked if he wanted to take my phone for reference and he said no. He comes back and tells me where he suggests to put it on my back- great. At this point I was already so uncomfortable with his vibe and attitude, I really was debating just asking for another artist. It's Friday the 13th, so the waitlist was insane and lobby was full, he is clearly overworked. So I decide to just relax and get it done. I tried to read my book at the beginning, he told me not to because it distracts him. He made rude comments about some guests there, did not make sure I was comfortable on the table or anything. Kept bitching about the music and then tries to small talk me about my other tattoos, which I was happy to engage. This was truly such a bizzare experience it made me so uncomfortable. Anyways, he charges me $250 because it had color. It is maybe 2 inches big. I hate to leave bad reviews, but what makes me feel the need to leave this review is what happened at check out. I was charged 250, but then the receptionist asked if he wanted her to write it down on the piece of paper, he said no and there was some akwardness. They had a hand written paper of tattoos done with prices they charged for each. Mine wasn't written down, which confuses me because the transaction was still made and I paid with my card. Not sure how many peoples tattoos didn't make it on this list, but it left a sour taste in my mouth. I left a proper tip- but upon arriving home, I just feel disgusted with the whole thing. I know Friday the 13th is their busiest day, for sure, and that is why I was being easy and not picky about anything. As I look at this tattoo more I realize the lines on the solo cup are not even spaced correctly like a solo cup. They're in the middle and not on the top and bottom. I hate that I was so rushed and also still pondering how if I came back tomorrow like he suggested how that would make any difference in the healing process. The shading inside the cup is akward and I even told him it was because my grandpa loved his pepsi in a solo cup. Not sure if that is why he put blue there but he did not ask me about the coloring inside the cup, just said red on the cup, some yellow on the bee. I would've asked for it to look like it was filled with a drink. An empty solo cup is white. So the blue is like ??? It is just a shame because tattoos are permanent and for me personally it is never just a "yay that was fun" kind of thing- all my tattoos have meaning. So the awful experience has turned into me never going there again. Sad, because I have 6 tattoos from there, 4 being Friday the 13th specials and I have never had thay experience of feeling so rushed and like an inconvience. Most expensive Friday the 13th tattoos ever as well. read more
