I met with Brenda before the day of the shoot and we went through photos and talked about the look we were going for. When the big day came, she took such amazing care of us! Each hairstyle was truly authentic (finger waves, anyone??) and really matched each of our personal styles. I like the resulting look, and if I hadn't, I appreciate erring on the side of caution, since it's much easier to cut more than to slowly grow out. I just couldn't find anyone who could give me a haircut where people stopped me when I was out and asked me who cut my hair (The first time was after a cut from Harrod's in England. The next was years later from Lorrie, my longtime stylist who moved, and the last was from my niece, Shannon, in GA). Considering I am almost 69 years old, that is not a good track record! My first haircut at Shear Creations was with Jenny in September 2017. I asked her if she could do something to help round out my hair in the back (camouflage my flat head). She gave me a superb cut - and yes, I was stopped more than once and asked where I went to get my hair styled​! I was completely carefree on my trip to Italy, and since then I have enjoyed professional, very affordable, consistent cuts from her that last. I am going back on Thursday - I look forward to the great atmosphere in the shop, to her dynamic personality, and to another stranger-stopping haircut!

I found my new stylist…read more Despite having one bad review, I took a chance on Jon as I needed a cut on short notice. I contacted him on the number listed on Yelp! And was surprised when he could get me in almost immediately. Why? It was his birthday and he most graciously offered to cut hair for a new customer. The address was easy to find but his shop is inside Shear Magic so don't look for Jon's name on a sign out front. Simply enter Shear Magic and ask for Jon. Ample parking is available as the salon is located in the New Town area. The shop where several other independent stylists work was clean, modern and everyone was quite friendly. After getting to know me a bit and discussing what I expected in a cut, he set to work and accomplished exactly what I was looking for. No need for adjustments which is great for a first time visit. Jon was very personable and wanted to get to know me as a client. After the cut, I had a shampoo and a rinse for $40. The entire process took nearly 50 minutes. Areas of improvement: Personally, I enjoy a scalp massage, hot towel and hand massages while I get my hair styled but that was not part of this experience. Certainly not a show stopper but that's what I look for in a salon. In short, Whether a local resident or just passing by, if you are looking for a barber or stylist, I would definitely recommend Jon based upon this initial experience. If the shop were easier to find, and if the amenities were better (coffee, tea, flavored water, scalp massage, hot towel, etc.), I would have given 5 stars. He does get extra credit for customer service by cutting hair on his birthday however. Satisfied customer and I will most certainly return for my next cut.
