Inside is a cute little place you can go and grab a slice of cake or pie, some fresh cookies, a fantastic smoothie or a light lunch sandwich. One of the owners was there, and he was super nice and friendly telling us about the business and different types of cakes and pies they have on different days of the week. They also sell jams, rice crispy treats of varying flavors and jellies. (I will be back for some of those this week- they will make great stocking stuffers or little gifts for the holidays) We both ordered a smoothie - strawberry / banana mine with almond milk and my son got his with oat milk. Mine was very tasty and filling substitute for a missed lunch, while my son also got a slice of the lemon cake with his. I am not a huge lemon cake fan, but once he started eating it and was telling me how awesome it was, I had to try it. And all I can say is WOW. IT MELTED IN MY MOUTH!!! It was so soft and moist, the icing was light, and the lemon flavoring was just perfect. I was upset with myself for not getting one for later, cause my son ate the whole thing in one sitting. Let me reiterate - I do not like lemon cake, but I wanted a slice of this lemon cake for myself. Its honestly THAT good. I cant wait to try a different flavor soon. I did buy myself some cookies (sorry I forgot to take pics of them before I ate them) and they were also soft and great tasting, hit the spot for something sweet after dinner. You can get your treats / food / drinks to go or to eat there, as they have the place decorated so cute. It reminds me of a little cafe in France I went to, plenty of seating, and spaced far enough apart you will not be intruding on the next table if you sit down. If you are in the Summerville area, on Old Trolley Rd take a dip in here and try it, I dont think anything they make can be bad at this point, we tried 3 things and it was a win - win for all 3. Because if I need it and it's not there I'll come find you. :) The filling was the best filling I've ever had. The baked portion, too. And I grew up enjoying the bakeries of NYC and the area. What made it so good? It was not a disgustingly sweet, gelatinous blob. It had what I could only call a "natural" style filling. Not gelatinous. Not super sweet. One bite and you'll know that this is the way it's really supposed to be. It will ruin your enjoyment of all other blueberry danishes. Like I said, don't order one. :) Bon appétit.

Who comes to a grocery store and doesn't buy groceries? Me!…read more I love Lowe's Boxcar Coffee and Beer Den. Tucked into a corner, it's a great place to relax with your favorite beverage. The booths are comfy, plenty of high tops, and a few seats at the bar. The coffee is excellent. I'm a purist, but flavor fanciers will love the available options. I'm going to try the beer, because I can buy in recyclable growlers - and it's tasty. But the attribute I like best is that while it's not silent, there's the usual hubbub, it's quiet enough to have a normal volume conversation with a friend or a group. How nice to have a cuppa with friends, and catch up, without shouting over the TVs, blaring music, and arcade games of most places. Plus, there's fresh pastries just down the aisle...

I must admit as a former chef then afterwards living in Kansas City and Austin TX for 25 years and frequenting large grocery stores with almost all of the things I've needed under one roof; I've been very disappointed with almost all the grocery stores here. So, after my mother convinced me to stop by Lowes I was pleasantly surprised with a chain that "gets it" here in town. Walking in I found the place to be extremely clean with some of the nicest employees I've come across since being back in town. Moreover, they're rather smart; strategically placing fresh baked focaccia bread close to the entrance, enticing one's stomach to influence the power of the purse. Next, I challenge anyone to resist their smoked foods as the air is heavy with the sweet perfume. Please note that Lowes carries a LOT of items customers will NOT find at other stores. From the towns best selection of cheeses, rack of lamb, watermelon radish and on the list continues, I encourage all those reading this to shop this store for those harder to find items. As for instore made items, I've tried a few and would like to report my limited findings. First, I bought a loaf of olive focaccia bread a noted weakness of mine. I found it be pillow-y moistness, bouncing back to the touch with a good fragrance however the amount of rosemary in it will repel even the most persistent of demons (odd refence). I bought another loaf of parmesan and I had the same issue, just way to rosemary which I happen to enjoy. I wish they had an alternative without the herb but other than that it's awesome. Another success in the bakery was the Bavarian donuts which I highly advise not buying as they're downright addictive. Soft, moist and a perfect chocolate to cream ratio these things are illegal in 5 surrounding counties! As for protein, I broke down and got the smoked chicken wings and macaroni salad for lunch. Again, this would be a resounding success if it weren't for one overwhelming ingredient; in this case salt. I'm of the belief they marinated these wings in the dead sea as it tasted as if the cap to the salt shaker fell off when seasoning these wings. Otherwise, these wings hit on all notes as they were moist and had the perfect amount of smoke. As for the mac salad, everyone has their version of what are perfect ingredients so I'll just add this, they perfectly cooked the pasta. That is to say the noodles weren't soggy or cooked to death; rather al dente which is perfect for the summertime favorite. As for addins I think they're ok but that's very subjective. Again, a certified hit. I did grab the sushi one day but I'm not a fan of grocery store sushi for the simple fact that the rice needs to be warm and the fish cold as it creates a contrast in the mouth. That said I got the fried shrimp sushi and it was just like any other store, not great. Nothing taken away as I realize most people are happy with this. My point is if I'm craving sushi a grocery store isn't the first thing that comes to mind as a true restaurant has better quality fish and a more diverse menu. To summarize Lowes is a great place to obtain those harder to find ingredients with the best in store created foods among all the competitors out there. The people here are very nice and willing to help however please note you'll need to obtain a card to get the discounts, the one down side of Lowes, is they're a little more expensive. However, "it's a small price to pay" for leveling up on the quality meter. This is my favorite grocery store in town and it's not even close.

The Pecan Chewy is rich and buttery, not overly sweet. The Strawberry Crumble Cake was sweet and moist, with a perfect light and fluffy icing. The cookies were rich and delicious, the peanut butter and chocolate chip were my favorites. Finally, we ordered the cinnamon buns. OMG!!! They were amazing! Light and airy yumminess!! They were perfect for that light breakfast with family when nobody wants to cook. We paired them with some fresh fruit, coffee, and tea, and it was a hit! We went to place an order for some chicken for our Family Reunion so we found this Publix. When we…read morewalked in the door employees were speaking being so polite. This was one of the most cleanest Publix I've ever went to and loved just walking all through the aisles just observing the store. The shelves were clean no dust at all. They even asked if you needed any help finding things I guess because I looked lost because I was mesmerized. I wish I could move to Charleston because of the hospitality was so moving. The food was cooked freshly cooked as you can tell because you could smell it in throughout the store. I would like to thank all the employees for being great with the customer service.

The cupcakes looked a little small, so I went with the Charleston Chewy. It was delicious; tasted like a Blondie with lots of butter. Ctr (Yorkmont & Tyvola for my local folks) from 1-3 and I took a chance and rode by today. She is parked near the entrance closest to Tyvola Rd. I must admit I was pleasantly surprised by the flavors I had to choose from that I couldn't decide at first. The own Emma made a few recommendations which was helpful so I decided to go with the 4 cupcake sampler which was perfect. I was able to share with my coworkers when I returned to work. The packaging was great as I was able to carry them back to work without ruining the look of them. Please stop by and have yourself a sweet treat if you work near the Belk Corp Center on Tuesdays. I know I will be a repeat customer!
