I am always a little reluctant, because long hair is sexy and becoming. I originally discovered K Elizabeth Salon via Groupon. I was looking for a good salon that would…read moredo full highlights and a cut (nothing crazy), but I always check reviews before buying a Groupon deal or making an appointment. K Elizabeth had great reviews that made me decide to give it a try. Although they don't offer online scheduling, they are very flexible and made scheduling easy. It is a quaint salon off St. Mary's Street in downtown Raleigh. There is parking behind and a little on the street (if you are lucky). About 3 weeks prior to my appointment, I got silly and colored my hair with Clairol Color Crave Semi-Permanent in Scarlet; let's just say my hair was RED. This stuff lasts 15+ washes; there's an understatement. After weeks of washing, my hair was a faded red/orange ugliness. I work from home, so not too many people thought it was CRAZY. I walked in and promptly apologized to Maddie for the condition of my hair. She was concerned that highlights, etc. might damage it due to the WONKY color, but she accepted the challenge. She spent a lot of time figuring out the best way to get rid of or remove/reduce the red. After working her magic, my hair just had minimal hints of red, and looked AWESOME! I was VERY impressed with Maddie and the team at K Elizabeth. They are all very friendly, and I could have spent more time watching them interact and just have fun.

Ally did an amazing job each time - I sent over a picture of inspiration and she was able to absolutely nail it! When I got the blue halo color done, Karen mixed some take-home ColorCraft, which was super helpful so that I could refresh the color whenever it faded. This salon definitely knows what their doing when it comes to color - I've never had a better experience with getting exactly what I ask for at a salon! You do have to park on the street, but generally you can find parking no problem, and I do recommend calling well in advance for an appointment (especially if you're doing color), since they book up pretty fast. Price is pretty affordable as well and the entire team are sweethearts!

LOVE IT! I have…read morefinally found the hair salon I've been looking for! I'm a huge fan and will be a client for as long as Jay will have me! To all of you out there with curly hair who are so sick of stylists not having a clue what to do for you, stop searching and call this place. I got highlights and a cut this past weekend and love how everything turned out. The color is amazing and is exactly what I wanted. Jay knew right from the beginning the type of look I was trying to describe and got it just right. It was like a "Say No More, I've Got This" vibe from him that put me at ease, like he'd been doing my hair for years! And as for the cut, he has a certain way of cutting these unique layers for curly hair that make it look wonderful! It has been incredibly easy to style. Beyond the hair, all the small things that also make a huge difference were just as appealing! Heath handles everything at the front, and he was amazingly helpful in setting up the appointment, making sure things were fine the day of, and scheduling my next appointment. When you arrive, they'll offer coffee, wine, whatever, and of course, great music is playing the whole time. The salon itself is also super cute and they have fabulous artwork throughout, making it totally adorable. Just a note that due to no fault of their own on the particular day I was there, the hot water supply for the building was well, not hot at all! Jay, Heath, and Irene (the other stylist there) all took the time to actually heat cold water up just for my rinse and shampoo so I wouldn't have to deal with cold water. Talk about going above and beyond! They didn't have to, but they did. They're all fabulous, and I can't say enough wonderful things. I wish them so much success there! I've already told friends and co-workers this is the next salon for them, no question, and I can't wait for my next appointment!

We both knew my hair wasn't going to get to be as light as the picture, but that was fine. After it was all said and done, I (regrettably) told her I liked it and walked out. I had already been there for so long, and I thought I could go home and style it myself and it would be fine. Not the case. She pretty much bleached my whole head except for about 2 inches of my roots. I paid money to look like I dyed my hair blonde 6 months ago and now it's growing out. It's pretty patchy too. After a couple days I had finally cried enough over my hair that I decided to contact the stylist and see if there was anything she could do about the horrible red tones. She offered to tone it, which I passed on. I'll pay someone else to fix this mess. I should've asked if she had done anything like this before and if she had pictures. Hindsights 20/20
