To the couple below: I'm sorry your experience wasn't a positive one. You seem pretty committed to trashing Lisa as you have posted on pretty much every platform which makes me start to question your accusations. I would say your circumstances are very unusual. All my vendors, family, and guests raved about their interactions with Lisa. My personal interaction is below and My brother recently got engaged and the first thing I said to him was you need to hire Lisa. This is the easiest, most heartfelt, and important review I have ever written. If I am honest, I started writing this review before my wedding because of how important Lisa was to me and I didn't want to miss a thing. Outside of saying yes to my husband, Lisa is the best decision I have ever made and I don't say that lightly. Despite getting pushback on hiring a planner, the minute I met Lisa, I knew I needed her. She's a complete powerhouse. I wanted someone showing up that day focused on my husband and I. The venue has priorities, catering has priorities, our families have priorities and I wanted someone in my corner covering my tracks if I dropped balls, and a sounding board as I navigated a once in a lifetime event. That's scratching the surface of what I got with Lisa. She is all I could have dreamed of plus a million more things! DON'T THINK, JUST BOOK LISA! Lisa is a masterclass on professionalism, kindness, organization, crisis management, and finesse. She keeps it real, highlights things that are important, and things that you can pass on all along with a nonchalant and humorous approach. Separately, we had an especially difficult vendor who brought me to tears on multiple occasions and could have derailed our entire event. If I had been in this alone, I would have been a basket case. Lisa would show up to any adversity in our process with a proactive assess, and say "Don't worry, I got this" and she did. She showed up direct, professional, and continued to tell us "you two are my priority, I don't care about anyone or anything else". To hear that during such a stressful time when you are getting pulled into a million and one different directions, is invaluable. I have tears in my eyes writing this review and thinking about how much comfort, knowledge, solace, support, and invaluable expertise Lisa provided me. I don't know what my day or mental state would have been like without her and thank my lucky stars I had her by my side. A perfect rating doesn't just happen, it requires expertise and commitment to your craft, a strong work ethic, and top notch customer service. That doesn't even begin to cover it with Lisa. She is hardworking (probably too much so, I don't think she has had a day off in years), attentive, accessible, knowledgeable, all along with a sense of humor and easy going, we got this kind of approach. Not to mention, her team!! Lisa was my right hand for planning and the sound of her voice on my wedding day made me burst into tears but HER TEAM, MY GOD!!! Shout out to Kelly, Chelsea and Marcy! My husband and I had a terrible experience working with Lisa. As a person of color, my experience was especially hurtful. We felt that she was pushy, sarcastic, and condescending and did not have our best interests in mind. We also felt that she was inconsistent in responsiveness (sometimes taking a few weeks to reply and other times replying immediately) and while she helped us find a few vendors (photographer, DJ, catering), we had to follow up multiple times over months with her and ultimately ended up finding most vendors ourselves (venue, hair and makeup, videographer, florist). She was also inconsistent in recommending vendors that fit our budget and in helping us establish a realistic budget in the first place, and multiple times complained to family members about our budget being too small, but never mentioned that to us. Additionally, we got the sense that she kept brushing off our smaller wedding for larger events and was not very invested in planning our wedding. We also felt that she was not on our side when we ran into issues with vendors, and that she was not supportive of non-Western wedding traditions. For example, our caterer, who had said they could do a Chinese entree (whole grilled fish) and had scheduled a tasting for us, changed the tasting menu on us last minute. Lisa took their side and told us "nobody wants to eat that." Anything that was not a traditional American wedding, she judged, critiqued, and made a huge spectacle of, to the point where I felt uncomfortable integrating any cultural elements into our wedding! It's hard enough planning a Chinese-American wedding, and to have our planner actively dismiss my culture like that was beyond frustrating. Most hurtful was Lisa's response to our feedback. When we politely mentioned these concerns to her, instead of apologizing, she insulted me and blamed me for her behavior. She said I made her feel dumb and feel "like poo." Never once did she care about my feelings, and never once did she acknowledge how her behavior was hurtful. While we had been nothing but friendly, patient, and accommodating in our strained relationship, she lectured me on how to be nicer to her instead! We ultimately ended our contract with her due to the many difficulties in working with her. Even now, we are saddened that she has made several attempts to dispute or delete our reviews, and has not sincerely apologized for her behavior, instead continuing to be defensive and blaming me for her behavior. If you'd like to take a look at an interesting trend exemplifying what we suspect Lisa does to retaliate against those who speak up for themselves, take a look at her recent reviews posted in June 2023, especially after these negative ones. See how many directly contradict the negative reviews, to the point where it's an uncanny correlation, almost as if they were expressly written to dismiss our reviews. We are not accusing her of anything, and we are sure she knows soliciting reviews in bulk, and selectively soliciting reviews, violates most company policies. We ended our contract with Lisa after a frustrating, stressful, and harmful year working together for our wedding. Lisa was not only a horrible wedding planner, she was rude and condescending to both me and my fiancee, but especially to my fiancee (a woman of color). Allow me to share some examples of how she actively sabotaged our wedding: - She refused to do any work unless we repeatedly pushed her, and would make us feel guilty for asking. - When we were looking for venues, we didn't hear from her for over a month and ended up finding our venue ourselves. - She provided minimal assistance with our budget. She never told us what our expected budget should be for the vibe we were looking for, and we later heard from a family member that she said our budget was "itsy bitsy" (she never mentioned this directly to us). For context, our wedding ended up costing 80K. - She gave us conflicting information. For example, in late 2022 she said florists were not talking to her about 2023 weddings yet, but when we reached out to florists just two months later, 30-40% were already booked. She blamed this on our budget being too small. Later we easily found 3 florists to choose from, all within our budget. - She rushed us into booking a caterer and did not tell us about their high minimum until we were close to signing the contract. - She recommended only one photographer and videographer and was very defensive when we said they weren't our style. - She was unresponsive to emails and we were often following up multiple times over one or two months on the same topic. - She continuously brushed off our small wedding for larger events and signaled to us how busy she was. - We wanted to have a Chinese entree (whole grilled fish). When our caterer, who had originally said they could do this, changed our tasting menu on us last minute, Lisa defended them and said "nobody wants to eat that." - Lisa's emails were unintelligible rambles. She used some sort of dictation/autocorrect software, and she didn't use punctuation! Even worse, over time, her tone towards my fiancee became increasingly sarcastic, rude, and disrespectful. When we tried to give her feedback, my fiancee barely started speaking before Lisa attacked her. She angrily told us that my fiancee's emails were condescending and made her "feel dumb" because we used the phrase "to be clear" in an email. She directed this comment at my fiancee, even though I had sent the email. She continued to blame my fiancee for making her "feel like poop" over the past few months. Unfortunately, it became clear that Lisa has internalized racial biases towards people of color, and was taking out her own insecurities on my fiancee. While she was shaking with anger berating my fiancee, she abruptly stated that we didn't have to work together and essentially QUIT! We are so glad we are no longer working with Lisa. We would hate for others to have the same horrible experience we did with Lisa and would recommend potential clients to STAY AWAY, especially if you're interested in doing anything outside of an expensive traditional wedding. Finally, if you're working with family members to plan your wedding, be warned that Lisa will often side with more "senior" family members over your own preferences! In our experience, Lisa was generously hired by an extended family member. I initially posted a toned down version of this review after we ended our contract in November 2022. Instead of contacting us to make amends, Lisa instead complained to the family member, lied about her productivity, and blamed us and our small budget for her condescending decisions and rudeness. We can't believe that, instead of trying to work this out with us and accepting feedback, Lisa turned against us. The family member later called me to berate me and threatened to post a counter review that would harm my professional identity. I was concerned about retaliation so I took the original review down. Without Lisa and the team, our wedding day would not have run as smoothly and I would absolutely not have been able to enjoy the event. Chelsea took care of all of our bridal party needs, and Ann and Lisa handled the set up, ceremony, reception, and clean up like true professionals. The timeline was impeccable and every moment was orchestrated to perfection. If you're looking for a team that cares about you, your guests, your happiness, and works their butts off, this is it! As soon as the first check was cashed, we received a verbose email from Lisa with a tone of reprimand outlining the restrictions of her availability, times and means of communication. We were gobsmacked, as we only ever used email for communication throughout the entire six-month process; however; we were instructed not to text/call, except during very specific windows of her availability. When I stated our unavailability (only ever due to work and work travel), she blasted us with emails. Lisa made a point of stating that she receives NO MONEY from any of the vendors, and that they are very lucky to be on her preferred vendor list. She insisted, "I remind them often that they can be deleted from my list as easily as they can be added." Upon signing the first vendor contract, we became privy to the fact that Lisa does receive her cut from each vendor. Other than her lack of transparency, there are two specific areas of weakness and deficit to be addressed: communication skills, and ability to create and work to adhere to a budget. Her emails were extremely difficult and sometimes impossible to follow, requiring several readings to understand. We received incoherent ramblings without grammar or punctuation. Lisa is incapable of anything pertaining to "budget," and we had to beg and plead to get her to do any work on it. When she finally sent the initial cost spreadsheet, it contained many line items just indicating "TBD." For example, cake. When I asked Lisa directly for a ball park estimate on the cake (she knew the exact cake we were getting), her reply was, "I have no idea." If she has been planning weddings for 16 years and she works directly with this particular baker regularly (a personal friend of hers), she should be able to give us a ballpark estimate on the spot. I asked about gratuities, wanting guidelines and for them to be included in the budget. She replied to me in email by pasting the dictionary definition of the word "gratuity." When we were not getting anywhere with establishing a baseline number, I finally did some research and sent her an email with what I found, indicating that the average wedding in CT for 50 guests costs about $30,000. She immediately retorted, "well, it's not. It's $65,000!" Why could she not tell us that in the first place? She did absolutely nothing with the florist until two months out, insisting "not to worry. I work with them all the time. They have you on their calendar. You're locked in." We were also given no choice of florist. She told us we had to use this specific florist because all of the other ones already "had their books closed out for the rest of the year." I finally became insistent that we have something in writing from them (the only vendor with whom we still had no contract and to whom we had not paid a deposit). Two weeks later, she finally sent us an email indicating the person with whom she had been working all these years at the florist had left, and now just the owner was there and she was going to have to be working directly with him, and he was not as knowledgeable as the worker who was no longer there. The very first thing we mentioned in our initial meeting with Lisa was that a Spanish/English bilingual DJ and music were the most important components of this wedding. Finding such a DJ proved to be impossible. Lisa did tell us she had concerns from the initial meeting. We settled on a DJ after we had an initial Zoom meeting, but he turned out to be a total failure. While Lisa had not worked with this company before, she and Traci (her "associate planner" who was the lead on our wedding day) most certainly did still have a responsibility to attempt to get the situation under control when it became evident that there were problems and that things were going sideways. Traci should have been doing more throughout the wedding to get/keep him on track rather than standing on the sidelines and allowing it to happen. It feels almost impossible to put into words just how amazing Lisa is. Our wedding had multiple vendors, different locations, and a lot of moving parts and Lisa handled it all flawlessly. Not only did she help to see our vision, craft a plan to bring it to life, and surpass our every expectation. Our most special day was so far beyond our wildest dreams, and Lisa's execution of the day and leadership was unmatched. We started the planning process months out. Lisa helped us find our dream venue - a spot we never would have found on our own. She ensured each and every vendor was on board with our hopes and vision for the day. She connected and triple-checked bookings and reservations and made sure the day went on without a hitch. Lisa and her team took the pressure off of us (and our loved ones) so that we could be in the moment and enjoy the night! Our guests and our family most importantly were so impressed with the process. I also had to give a lot of love to Kelly, from Lisa's team, who was by our side the entire day. She made sure that I had everything I needed from lip gloss to a gown fluffing for photos. The entire team works tirelessly while blending in with the day. I would suggest Lisa to any and everyone.
