I have attended many events at Anthony's Ocean View, and each time, it was immaculate. The food, staff, and ambience were truly breathtaking. I was at an event there just last night, and the venue was decorated from the driveway into the facility, to the inside of the venue. It looked like a hallmark Christmas movie, no exaggeration. I made sure to tell the staff every time how amazing they were and that I would leave a review. Only have come here for catered events. Food is pretty good for the amount of folks they are serving. Same menu multiple times, that may be more about the organizer than the restaurant itself. Variations of pasta, roast beef, chicken and salmon. Nothing exciting. All was fine, but just typical catered fare. Beer list is really weak though, with only one local on tap and it's from Rhode Island, so not that local. No excuse for that these days. It's a pretty spot, tons of parking, so likely the reason people book it. read more

What an amazing banquet hall, located right on the beach. We visited during the Mother's Day brunch. The options were plentiful and so tasty. They had a carving station, pasta station, various meats and fish along with different breakfast items. The fruits and desserts area were plentiful and so good. The staff did an excellent job of taking care of all needs. We really enjoyed our meal but even better when we went outside and enjoyed the sun and sand. My wife and I attended a gala here and what an evening. The food offerings were excellent, from the appetizers and hand-helds to the main offerings of filet mignon and salmon. I was amazed by the filet. Service was top-notch. The wait staff was attentive and helpful. My quibbles were my mixed drinks (weak) and the awful tables and chairs these venues use. You're packed in, and the table legs are such that you just can't get comfortable. I had to pull my chair away from the table and hold my plate to eat more comfortably. Got married here last year. To start out - pretty much had the perfect wedding, huge fan of this venue and our guests loved it too. I got many many compliments from our 200 guests about how good the food was. Everyone I came into contact with on the planning end was nice and understanding. In a world where people have drastic unfortunate circumstances on their wedding day, we were blessed to not! That being said, my only two complaints - I received a call less than 2 weeks out stating that our seating chart had to be drastically changed because there apparently wasn't enough space on the floor plan we received 6 months earlier, of course we had already ordered all of our escort cards at that point which was frustrating. Another review noted how plates were taken before they got a chance to eat, unfortunately being the bride and getting pulled every which way I was very sad when I didn't get to eat any of my pasta course. I understand that they need to make room for the next course, but at the sweetheart table we had plenty of space and I just hoped that it would have been differently. Live in the neighborhood, most disrespectful people I have ever met in my life. CONSISTENTLY throwing parties on weeknights that go way beyond 10:00 pm, sometimes until 2 am. They leave the parking lots unattended for people to party and scream. I've been blocked in my driveway for hours because they tell their employees to park in adjacent streets and driveways. Last time that happened and I went over there, they said nobody was IN my driveway. Sure enough, there was an employee parked in my driveway blocking me until 1 am. They are the most entitled assholes, zero regard for the neighborhood they intelligently bought a cheap venue in. Also the one time I went there my chicken was raw and they gave me a mojito with gin? As I write this, it's 11:30 pm on a Sunday evening. Their parking lot is full of cars revving, blasting music, drifting in the snow. Amazing for people who have to work in the morning. They offered a themed brunch featuring "Mickey and Minnie Mouse". Great idea for any Disney Lover of any age. Atmosphere was amazing right on the beach overlooking the ocean. It was February, but didn't stop us from walking out to get some salty air. Food was amazing. The variety of food was insane.... From danish and pastries, eggs and bacon, pancakes and French toast, pasta stations, pizza, chicken fingers, shrimp to prime rib carving stations! Don't even get me on the dessert selections.... OMG!'n Down fall was the price. It was a bit expensive and due at time of reservation (which was required). They also add tax and gratuity at that time as well. Recently hosted a celebration for my mom at Anthony's and it was a great experience. From the beginning, they made it easy to book and pick a package and were reasonable with the pricing in my opinion (in the context of a full-service venue). During my event, Brian was my main point of contact and everything flowed seamlessly. The grounds are beautiful and with me just supplying a few more elements of decor, everything was just perfect. I was very worried about the food since that can tend to be kind of bland when you go to weddings, banquets etc. but I must say they told me they would deliver and they did. The food was really excellent. I went with the buffet package and I enjoyed everything I selected from prime rib, pasta, potatoes, etc. The shrimp passed around during the first hour was huge, fresh and delicious. Great News...Anthony's Ocean View, the premier event hall and (Italian) caterer opened as a restaurant. Bad new... it was pretty bad I like Anthony's -they really do a great job of catering Weddings and large events. The grounds are really nice with palm trees everywhere you look. If you could move East Haven to Bocca. This would be it I was really excited about going to dinner there tonight mostly because i wanted to be served dinner that i didn't cook. I've been cooking for three months and I longed to hear" are you ready to order" Service was very slow, I think this pop up restaurant could have been better planned. The bar was over here and the kitchen was waaaaay over there. Our food came out cold, not like it's not hot cold, it was cold cold. It took forever to get our drinks although water and butter came out as soon as we sat down. They mixed glassware and flatware with disposables which didn't make sense to me. I ordered a "grilled pork chop with red peppers, sautéed onions and roasted potatoes". I was served a barely warm pork chop, sliced up (leave my meat whole please) served on an ice cream scoop of luke warm mashed potatoes, 1 tiny piece of red pepper and a few slices of barely cooked onion. When i asked where my roasted potatoes were, they said they'd be happy to order them (i thought i already had). 25 minutes later, my large 10" plate of potatoes arrived. See the pic below for further details. Here's the point of the review: owning a catering hall is very different from running a restaurant. You might as well be running a coal mine. My name is Jared Leonard. My now wife & I had our wedding at Anthony's Oceanview on 9/7/2024. Our wedding occurred during downpour conditions for the first 2 hours of our time. Prior to the wedding we were ensured by Cheryl that it doesn't rain on wedding days. No backup plan was mentioned even though it was brought up multiple times. It poured on ours. Our maitre d' Demetrio had no idea what to do no backup plan. Our wedding was a complete and utter disaster. We spent so much money on accessories and vendors such as violinists that we didn't get to enjoy, guests of other parties enjoyed our vendors in the main lobby more than we were able to. The music from the party below shook the floors we could not hear words being spoke through the microphone. This is a Saturday mean you and we paid a premium per plate for it. Staff at Anthony's even told our photographers they weren't able to take pictures of us at certain times. Marcelo lied about add-ons they would include such as a crepes station and chocolate fountain, then gave completely bs excuses why they were nowhere to be found on the special day. To be completely honest it felt like it was our maitre d' and staffs first time running a wedding, almost like a practice run. Having a wedding at this venue is a gamble I would correlate such as a lottery ticket, all or nothing as far as a good experience or a waste of money with absolutely no recourse but a venue $300 gift card. If you want to throw away $20,000+ feel free. Even our vendors, photographer, videographer and dj explained to us that our wedding was a disappointment and to send an email to the venue. I attended this venue for a wedding recently. The party had a beachside wedding, that was beautiful. After the ceremony, we went to the cocktail hour. The staff was very friendly and helpful. The sun was very bright and out party asked the gentleman to open up another table umbrella to help with shading the sun. The inside of the place is very nice also, with crystal chandeliers and nice sized rooms. The bathroom was clean and they had a nice basket that tended to the normal ladies needs. read more

First I need to start by saying the venue was great, tables were set up and everything was good. They let us come in early and set up our decorations. Things started off very good. Food was good, no complaints there. Our biggest complaint was toward the end. Our event was from 1:00-5:00. We agreed the buffet was to be left out till 3:00. At 2:30ish the buffet was cleared out and packed up, some people were not able to even get their food. Then at about 4:15 staff started to clear tables and the lady that was in charge of our shower brought in carts for us to take our gifts out. And they were moving tables around at 4:45 for the next event that apparently started at 5:00 which we were not made aware of till the next event started bringing their decorations in while we were still in the room. Then I come upstairs from putting gifts in the cars and my 8 month pregnant wife is popping balloons from the arch we had. The lady in charge of the afternoon did not come up to us as all at the end asking how everything was or anything. Venue is nice, food is good, but I do not recommend this place unless you don't mind being rushed out. Management needs to do a better job about communication with their guests. Would give a 1 star if the food wasn't as good as it was. We were going to consider having a reception here in the future for our wedding, but not after today. I know 1 wedding loss isn't huge for them, but it's still a $30,000+ loss for them. We spent $7,000 on this shower and got rushed out. read more

My party had the absolute worst dining experience last night, to the point where the entire party was not even initially offered a beverage. My order was clearly forgotten because it did not come out until everyone else was half way through their plates. Then, when I received it, my "grilled shrimp" was stone cold. The "manager" Natalie then offers a round of drinks (that I didn't need, as I already had wine, had an hour drive home and would prefer not to get a DUI), so I declined. My new plate finally arrived and I had to take it to go because my entire party was finished eating. Natalie would not make any adjustments to my bill for all of the inconvenience, and she and the waitress became increasingly rude as if I did something wrong! When I asked who I could speak with above Natalie, they REFUSED to tell me. Luckily, some men I came across while I was exiting gave me the name, as we were telling them what happened. Food was not great. I ordered the shrimp and muscle special twice and the shrimp was overcooked. My mother in law ordered the fried seafood combo and the fish was raw. My nephew ordered a burger and the burger was raw when they took the burger back they gave him the same one, instead of replacing it with a new one and it was burnt. I do not recommend this place. in addition of taking the food back to the kitchen the manager came back with the same plate is as if she never changed it. 3 out of five meals were not cooked or overcooked, the manager still charged us the full price. I have been to many restaurants in my life and have never experienced what I did yesterday. If I can give a zero review I would. I am so disappointed. I don't mind paying for food but if it's not great or doesn't even taste good why should I pay for it. Mind you my bill was over 300 dollars. So disgusted. read more

We have been celebrating Mother's Day at Anthony's for over a decade. We've always enjoyed the food and the experience and it has always been a special day for all the mothers in our family. (party of 12) This Sunday we were shocked to find that this traditional experience had gone from great to bad. There are many things to complain about but the one thing that sticks out is the food quality and selection. Normally, the buffet has a vast assortment of items. By my estimate the selection was one third of normal. Most items that were offered were overcooked and of poor quality. Imagine "breakfast sausages" in Italian sausage & peppers? mini cannoli's with filling only at the ends! Dried out salmon and chicken entrees. Beyond the food, there were so many other things that were downgraded or missing. In the upstairs dining area, they placed the buffet in a crowded hall instead of the main dining area. Maybe this was by design to hide or camouflage the reduced assortment of food. We pay extra money for a private room. The service was relatively nonexistent. Many things that were part of the package in the past were eliminated without any notice. Complimentary wine was not to be found. What the hell has happened to Anthony's? I have never hesitated to pay the high price for this once a year event. I have never written a restaurant review before but felt that the experience was so poor that I had to speak out. Really great establishment. We've been here a few time for Christmas Parties and most recently for a wedding. The staff always does a great job; very friendly and helpful. The venue itself is very nice. The outside area is wonderful! Great place for a post ceremony reception. Beach was very nice along with the palm trees. The sunset weather for the wedding we attended was just about perfect. This place does Italian food very well! Any time we've been here, the food has been awesome. During the cocktail hour they served beer that was not cold and the servers took away plates when people weren't finished eating. At the reception the staff didn't speak English. I have been to Anthony's for a bridal shower and most recently their NYE event. Overall, I think they do a great job with service. There were plenty of people refilling water pitchers, table wine, etc. The staff was friendly and helpful. The decor is like a typical ballroom/wedding factory. I personally feel that fake palm trees are tacky for a Connecticut Long Island Sound wedding (we're not in Florida), but plenty of people love them. Lastly, the food was Okay, which is what I would expect for the price point. I've certainly had better banquet/wedding food and I've had worse. They did Italian cuisine well. I enjoyed the eggplant rollatini and penne alla vodka. The puff pastry wrapped salmon was bland and the texture was unappealing. No one at our table ate it. The filet was good. We went to Anthony's on Friday August 14th for dinner with my girlfriends. A lot of things happened that night that would take a very long time to write so I am just going to list in bullet form: 1) It took at least 30 minutes for the waitress to come to the table and take our order. 2) They forgot 1 of our dishes - 30 minutes passed before we had to flag her down to let her know, our other dishes got cold because we were waiting for this last dish. 3) 4 out of 6 of the dishes were wrong 4) And lastly but more importantly the management staff is TERRIBLE and EXTREMELY UNPROFESSIONAL! We understand that they typically don't open for dinner service and therefore there are likely a lot of flaws they are working out. HOWEVER when our complaints were discussed with the manager (short bald man) he was incredibly rude and unapologetic - he proceeded to take down his mask when talking to us. We asked him to put his MASK BACK ON and he then has the balls to say to me "why aren't you wearing your mask then" meanwhile I am sitting at my table with food in front of me. We also watched him remove his mask again as he was speaking to other guests! This is a health code violation and they should be fined for this! He also removed one of our dishes from the table and threw it in the trash right in front of us! Had he been more professional and understanding of our complaints this would have been a completely different story. I HOPE SOMEONE FROM MANAGEMENT READS this and understands that you need to chose and train your management staff better because it is appalling that you let THIS man work for your establishment. read more
