Specialties
Multi-disciplinary arts studio offering classes for children and adults in dance, drama, music and art.
Students of all ages develop the ability to express themselves through a number of creative outlets drawing from concepts in dance, drama, music, and art. We believe that these artistic outlets not only foster personal growth but also developmental progress that can be applied to other areas of students' lives. Classes at Creative Arts strengthen self-confidence and empower students to expand their individual interests both in and out of the classroom.
At our week-long Summer camps, children between the ages of 5 &13 can experience a wonderful summer of dance, drama, music & art. Activities include field trips to various museums and events and projects that explore our weekly themes. The outstanding teaching artists of Creative Arts Studio will be leading these multi-arts workshops in a fun and nurturing environment.
History
Established in 1995.
Since opening our studio doors 24 years ago, Creative Arts has aimed to build an arts curriculum through interdisciplinary approaches to teaching and learning. We believe that each student possesses a variety of skills and abilities that flourish under individualized classroom attention and a community of dynamic teachers. At Creative Arts, studies come to life -- literature is danced, colors are acted, and numbers are given rhythms.
Meet the Business Owner: Sherri H.
In 1992, Sherri began teaching creative movement classes in Cobble Hill. Due to the growth of her classes she opened the Creative Arts Studio in 1995. Through Creative Arts Studio, Sherri has provided her students with many exciting performance opportunities. Some of these include: appearances on the Nickelodeon Television Network and VH1's Rupaul Show, participation in festivals throughout Brooklyn and Manhattan including the Paul Taylor Youth Showcase, and performances with professional dance companies. Now entering into her 24th year of business, Sherri is proud to see that Creative Arts Studio has blossomed into a nurturing place where children can find their own way of expressing themselves through all forms of artistic creation. Creative Arts has become a place of discovery. In 2007, Sherri was proud to have opened a second location in Carroll Gardens, Brooklyn where she continues to Give the Gift of Self-Expression throughout the Brooklyn community.
