I just spoke with the head Pastor, and my family is "welcomed to use the facilities," but they do not support my civil marriage rights. I wonder how he would explain that to our 10 year old child, and how such a stance would prevent him from accessing health care within our family? How upsetting! I encourage everyone camping there to use your privilege and please consider raising this issue. Very unfortunate!

The…read morecampground offers many free amenities that you would normally pay for or have to bring yourself at most other campgrounds. This includes rental of volley balls, basketballs, soccer balls, ladder toss, and horseshoes. You do have to sign them out and include your lot number and they must be returned before the store closes but that is a small trade for a service that's not offered almost anywhere else. There is a small pond near the front store where you can use paddle boats at no cost and is stocked regularly with smaller fish, perfect for casual fishing. If you're a little more serious you can fish at the lake at the back of he campground and rent (for free) paddles to go out on the lake with the rowboats provided for you by the campground. There's a nice pool that's relative to the size of the campground thats kept cleanThere's a children's playscape that includes a set of swings, three slides, monkey bars, a merry go round. For the older kids there's tether ball and a beach volleyball court, all within a stones throw of many of the campsites. There's a game room that features many classic arcade games, ping pong, a billiards table, chess and checkers, various assorted board games, and a classic styles jukebox that manages to capture modern and classic music all in one. The activities director and the owners are all incredibly hands on at the camp and there's usually something always going on. Just over memorial weekend there was a game of BINGO on Saturday and Sunday, a free scavenger hunt around the campground, and an ice cream social for a dollar. My only qualms with the campground are the bathrooms but there is only so much a few people can do when it is the patrons who are ruining the bathrooms for themselves and everyone else. Overall, the campground is excellent and yes, there are rules, but these are rules that are not exceedingly hard to follow, nor easy to break. This is a quality campground and it's a great place that even if the features provided for you aren't enough, there's so much to do outside of the campground. Antiquities, flea markets, farmers markets, wineries, and a plethora of lakes and hiking trails available for those who look. Irish Hills Kampground is an amazing mix of old and new, rustic and modern, and the experience is most definitely what you make of it.

The campground has a good amount of things to do - the pool is recently renovated and really nice. The playground has a lot to do. There are games and activities you can get for free at the camp store. There is a large lake you can take row boats on, as well as paddle boats. All of these activities are free, although some require you to leave a license. The game room could use a refresh - it's funny, when I used to stay as a kid I would have made the same comment - that the game room could use a refresh. Additionally, some of the playground equipment is aging, but it's perfectly serviceable. When I did my research after booking, I almost cancelled - lots of posts of bad times and rules. What I'll say is the following: If you think the rules might cause you issues, it's probably not the campground for you. The rules are mostly benign (No walking openly with alcohol, no loud music after 10, etc), and make it very family friendly. This is not the place to have a weekend bender after attending a race at MIS. I actually like that in a campground. We will certainly be back, as we had a wonderful time, and the kids did too. This is a very nice family friendly campground. The only reason I didn't give 5 stars is that the sites are a bit on the smaller side. They fit my 23' travel trailer without issue, but we're spoiled by the giant sites you get at most state parks. Additionally, the bathrooms need modernized a bit. They weren't bad, but they tended to be wet most of the day due to use. There were signs indicating that were remodelling. TL;DR - Will stay again - had a wonderful time. The rules are only an issue if you want to have a crazy party, which isn't what the campground wants to be.

They have kids games at 11am on Saturdays and hay rides that run in the evenings. If I would recommend any time to go it would be when they are doing their halloween themed weekend. They give away cider and donuts, there is a costume parade followed up by trick or treating, and at night a haunted hayride where the owner made many of his attractions that you will see when on the haunted hayride. A great place to make great memories, I'm forever grateful that my aunt and uncle went here and started a wonderful tradition.

A quick drive to the fairgrounds in Adrian or Hayes State Park will handle the for you. The starts at night are worth the inconvenience.

Every now and then in your camping travels you will make reservations somewhere just because it's…read morein a convenient location on your route and end up stumbling upon a true gem. That's what happened to us with Happy Acres! Originally we were scheduled to stay for one night but at the last minute had to change to four and the staff was wonderful about accommodating our request. Check in was a breeze with confirmation emails, informative texts leading up to our arrival and when we finally got there our registration packet was waiting for us by the office door. Our site (#71) was super easy to get to and was a pull through which was mostly level for our 33' trailer. I spoke with two staff members; one over the phone when I had to change my reservation (Matt?) and another (Sidney?) when I stopped by their very cute camp store to buy a couple of shirts and they were both extremely pleasant and polite. The grounds are beautifully maintained and there is also a pool and dog park on site. The only negative we found was the very loud, ever present road noise. Happy Acres is right alongside highway 69 which makes it super convenient to access but noisy. Luckily we were running out AC or fans every night which mostly drowned it out. We work remotely from our camper and both our Verizon and TMobile signals were very strong. However TMobile was the speed test winner regularly showing d/l speeds of 200+ mbps. We come to the Midwest every year or two and Happy Acres will definitely be on our list of campgrounds to revisit. We heard that they are expanding the # of campsites towards the back of their property and if they are full hookup we will be sure to try to book one of those. Thanks Happy Acres!!!
