We had a hole situation with them. A few minutes later, there was a shirtless boy who picked up my eight year-old cousin. He was yelling NO NO NO! So the boy threw him. Staff did nothing about it. This is ridiculous. Tried joining a parade. Kathy said she saw us go on 2 wheels. If we did we would have flipped over on golf cart. We didn't. I will say don't go here and don't waste your money. (WiFi is terrible)

Their office is has friendly staff to help you check in and out, serve ice cream, and they also have plenty else for sale including swimwear, camping gear, etc. The summer weather certainly made for some thunderstorms and a mix between partly cloudy and outright scary weather, but the camp staff was nimble and allowed for the kids to play in the pool and lake as long as there were no nearby thunderstorms, so they just had to take a break anytime the weather started moving in. We had not planned to come here, but didn't have a great experience elsewhere and located this place at the last minute. Somehow they had plenty of excess capacity and we were able to get a couple spots up front. Unfortunately, anytime another RV came in between our travel trailer and the office, our Wi-Fi would not work. To get around that, we just went outside and found a place within line of site to the office and it worked fine. The last night we were there, we moved our rigs down to right next to the lake where we could watch the kids playing on the huge inflatable things in the lake and the Wi-Fi down there was excellent.

Many walnut trees dropping walnut hulls larger than golf balls causing plenty of damage to vehicles and campers. (Based on the time of year you go, this is probably not an issue, but for the first weekend of October, it was.) The DNR is ridiculous here. Been to many parks in the past and haven't ever had an issue with them patrolling almost non stop. Someone I know paid for a camp site, but didn't show up, and the DNR had a problem with two vehicles parked on it. Even patrolling at 11pm when it was already quiet. Like the DNR guy had a fight with his wife and was taking it out on everyone at the campground. Just a lonely, miserable human. Would be great if he spent that energy tending to making the trails better. Parking at the camp store wasn't much better. Parking lot was packed as many of the campers couldn't have their vehicles on the sites as the walnuts were damaging them. If you have a stupid rule that there's only one vehicle per site, then add more parking lots, or do something about the walnut trees. I could understand if there was an issue with noise or fighting or something, but there wasn't. However, at a site behind ours, there were people laughing and talking loudly well after 11pm...clearly DNR didn't bother to go over to them and patrol that area. Also the DNR guy was driving entirely too fast in a park where there are tons of people and children running around and playing. Will post pics of some of the sites with walnut trees damaging vehicles.

Each had its merits, but the group vote for the favorite was the playground across from the volleyball and basketball courts. Some of the playgrounds had retro equipment, which we liked, but the seats were very low and sometimes squeaky. The climbers and bouncers were a hit and the young ones raced to be the first to try them. We even awarded special stickers to anyone in our group who visited all six playgrounds. Finding the geocache and hiking the trails, playing disc golf, doing archery---it was all a great time!

A bridge provides access to a little island with a beach, which also has nearby swings and picnic tables. We saw a number of boats out enjoying the water and folks doing some fishing. Camping sites are available, as is a dog beach.

But this year was our worst experience and we will not be going back. We reserved 4 of the basic cabins, along with a campsite. We all arrived Friday night. By Saturday morning each of our cabins toilets were clogged. We tried everything to unclog them. By Saturday night we had poo (yes extremely gross!!) coming out of the bathroom sink every time we flushed. The campground knew about the problem but did not call in anyone to fix the issue until Monday (one of the staff told us it was more expensive to have the repair done on the weekend!). On top of that one of the cabins coffee pots was missing the inside plastic filter. The family in that cabin had to just put the paper filter in the basket and hope it would make coffee. They were accused of stealing it when they checked out and the cabin was inspected. When they said it was like that when they arrived the staff at the front desk said no way and you owe us $20. When our family member said he would contest the charges they said "well we will just charge you another $20" and they actually promptly did that! My family member is now disputing the second charge with their credit card company. But just last night they got a threatening email from the campground saying they would turn them into collections if they didn't also pay for the fees associated with the contested charges plus any other fees! I know from being a business owner that it is totally illegal to charge a customer's credit card without their permission. That second charge was illegal, and even though they took it off within 24 hours, it doesn't change the fact that their staff did something illegal. Beware of this campground's practices. They do not care about customer service.
