Very accommodating and helpful with any tips. They let you have free rein of the water, recommending to pick up trash along the way.

Every now and then in your camping travels you will make reservations somewhere just because it's…read morein a convenient location on your route and end up stumbling upon a true gem. That's what happened to us with Happy Acres! Originally we were scheduled to stay for one night but at the last minute had to change to four and the staff was wonderful about accommodating our request. Check in was a breeze with confirmation emails, informative texts leading up to our arrival and when we finally got there our registration packet was waiting for us by the office door. Our site (#71) was super easy to get to and was a pull through which was mostly level for our 33' trailer. I spoke with two staff members; one over the phone when I had to change my reservation (Matt?) and another (Sidney?) when I stopped by their very cute camp store to buy a couple of shirts and they were both extremely pleasant and polite. The grounds are beautifully maintained and there is also a pool and dog park on site. The only negative we found was the very loud, ever present road noise. Happy Acres is right alongside highway 69 which makes it super convenient to access but noisy. Luckily we were running out AC or fans every night which mostly drowned it out. We work remotely from our camper and both our Verizon and TMobile signals were very strong. However TMobile was the speed test winner regularly showing d/l speeds of 200+ mbps. We come to the Midwest every year or two and Happy Acres will definitely be on our list of campgrounds to revisit. We heard that they are expanding the # of campsites towards the back of their property and if they are full hookup we will be sure to try to book one of those. Thanks Happy Acres!!!

Ok so for a change I have some good news to report about a campground…read more First of all this place is huge, so where you end up will make a big difference. This review is specific to the C sites we were in C21 specifically. First we were sent to site 128, you do NOT want to be in this area. It's pretty much all full time residents and has very narrow roads, very hard to get around and cluttered small sites. Luckily someone was in spot 128 so we were moved. The water electric sites in C seem to have a bit more room than the full hookup pull through in this section. However they are both decent and are among a lot of trees. Very poor/no cell reception with T-Mobile and only paid WiFi. Normally I'm not a fan of paid WiFi however we only paid about $16/night for the water electric site with passport America. For that price I am willing to spend the $10 for 3 days of WiFi. The WiFi worked well and could even stream Netflix. It allows up to 2 devices at once. Close to several of the RV manufacturers so great if you are looking to do factory tours which we were.

This year we had 11 adults and 10 littles. The campground decided to separate our cabins and NOT notify us. We found out by coincidence they had a big rally coming and were rudely told they have the RIGHT to change our reservations. When asked to speak to Erica the big boss she was busy and would return my calls. NEVER heard from her. They moved 2 of the families us ACROSS a highway to the other side of the park. The 2 families that were moved ended up getting golf carts and a price reduction on the cabins. However the 2 families that were left were not compensated at all being told well they weren't moved... Everyone blamed everyone else for the error. Playground across from us was a joke. Definitely from the 70's. Will post pics. Sad thing is the campground has a lot of possibility but needs some changes. The store and office are only open until 5 T-S. 3 on Sundays and closed completely on Mondays. You CAN'T get ice or wood after hours without going to the nearest gas station and nothing on Mondays. The pros were Nick who rents out golf carts , he was amazing and really went out of his way trying to help out. The office girls who got stuck in the middle were really sweet and felt bad. The campground had a golf cart parade throwing out candys for the kids and a craft activity for the kids to do. They kept the place clean and the fishing spot was great. the beach area was nice. Sadly it's not a place we will ever give our money to again.

This is ridiculous. Tried joining a parade. Kathy said she saw us go on 2 wheels. If we did we would have flipped over on golf cart. We didn't. I will say don't go here and don't waste your money. This RV park was by far the kids' favorite of our entire summer RV road trip this year. Not only…read moredo they have a playground, bouncy pillow, lots of camp games, a pool, AND a lake, but they also have a lazy river at the pool and a huge inflatable play set in the lake that is not far out to swim to. Their office is has friendly staff to help you check in and out, serve ice cream, and they also have plenty else for sale including swimwear, camping gear, etc. The summer weather certainly made for some thunderstorms and a mix between partly cloudy and outright scary weather, but the camp staff was nimble and allowed for the kids to play in the pool and lake as long as there were no nearby thunderstorms, so they just had to take a break anytime the weather started moving in. We had not planned to come here, but didn't have a great experience elsewhere and located this place at the last minute. Somehow they had plenty of excess capacity and we were able to get a couple spots up front. Unfortunately, anytime another RV came in between our travel trailer and the office, our Wi-Fi would not work. To get around that, we just went outside and found a place within line of site to the office and it worked fine. The last night we were there, we moved our rigs down to right next to the lake where we could watch the kids playing on the huge inflatable things in the lake and the Wi-Fi down there was excellent.

But this year was our worst experience and we will not be going back. We reserved 4 of the basic cabins, along with a campsite. We all arrived Friday night. By Saturday morning each of our cabins toilets were clogged. We tried everything to unclog them. By Saturday night we had poo (yes extremely gross!!) coming out of the bathroom sink every time we flushed. The campground knew about the problem but did not call in anyone to fix the issue until Monday (one of the staff told us it was more expensive to have the repair done on the weekend!). On top of that one of the cabins coffee pots was missing the inside plastic filter. The family in that cabin had to just put the paper filter in the basket and hope it would make coffee. They were accused of stealing it when they checked out and the cabin was inspected. When they said it was like that when they arrived the staff at the front desk said no way and you owe us $20. When our family member said he would contest the charges they said "well we will just charge you another $20" and they actually promptly did that! My family member is now disputing the second charge with their credit card company. But just last night they got a threatening email from the campground saying they would turn them into collections if they didn't also pay for the fees associated with the contested charges plus any other fees! I know from being a business owner that it is totally illegal to charge a customer's credit card without their permission. That second charge was illegal, and even though they took it off within 24 hours, it doesn't change the fact that their staff did something illegal. Beware of this campground's practices. They do not care about customer service.

This season the mowing was inconsistent, the pool not cleaned and maintained and the rest rooms and showers not cleaned and properly stocked. There is an unfinished lodge that hasn't changed in 2 years. There are no park scheduled activities. The WiFi is not dependable. The only other amenity is a pickle ball court. Our total cost for 2025 season was $7350. With the additional charges being added for the 2026 season, we would be charged $8550 for the exact same site. Considering the lack of amenities and consistent maintenance, we just don't feel the value justifies the extreme cost.
