I'm very particular about my haircuts and spent years finding the right barber when I lived in New York City, and I didn't even love the haircuts he gave me, to be honest. But they were consistent and that's the best you can hope for sometimes. I've already gotten two awesome haircuts (out of two total haircuts!) from Diego at the Fine Men's Salon of Westchester and am looking forward to going back. The guy's an absolute pro. The other staff at the salon are friendly and helpful. Also, this is a rare salon/barbershop where you are able to both pay AND tip on your credit card, so there's no pressure to hit up an ATM before your haircut. That's a huge plus for me. With regards to their COVID policies, the salon is extremely safe and I feel completely at ease from a health standpoint. Between their mask policy, mandatory hand washing station, and overall impressive cleanliness, you'll feel totally safe and relaxed getting your hair cut here during an otherwise stressful pandemic.

The second time we went back, for the same scheduled spa shave, he received a quick electric shave. He never had that before and imagine his shock, surprise, and sting his face experienced when the man slapped aftershave on him. We explained to the woman in the front that was not the service we booked. My son wasn't comfortable enough to tell the man because he could understand the older gentleman and didn't want to be disrespectful. The point we tried to make with the woman is the service booked wasn't provided. She kept saying that we paid less anyway and would give our money back. We didn't want our money back or to argue but wanted them to be more considerate when providing a service. They should look at the service that the client booked. She was sharp and curt and it was pointless to continue. We received a review from the business that my mom had completed for me. Simple, nothing rude but not recommending the business because they don't carefully make sure a client gets the service they book. WELL don't send for feedback if you can't control your feelings when you don't like the feedback! NOPE!! We would not recommend this business to ANYONE and there are far too many of men's salons to enjoy without the attitude! My beard something I've been growing for over a year and a half gone. Not because I wanted to cut it, but because the barber dropped the line way too low and reshaped it like it was his face, not mine. It wasn't just the beard either. The haircut felt rushed. Uneven in spots. No real care to my natural lines. Just clip, push, and move on. I had to come home, stare at myself in the mirror, and make the call to shave the whole beard off..not because I wanted to, but because it looked so off it didn't even feel worth trying to fix. Sometimes it can be uncomfortable walking into a barbershop of all men but Orlando was very friendly and accommodating. I told him I wanted to keep my length but clean up my edges with a taper and he did exactly that. He knew exactly what I wanted and gave me a sharp cut without looking masculine. Thanks, Orlando! I neglected to write down a review weeks prior, so I am on it right now…read more (three weeks earlier, on a Monday and to the best of my knowledge) I went down to Handlebar's to get a buzz cut! My usual barber Astrit was on vacation at the time so the folks recommended me a barber whose name I could not remember except that he shared Astrit's heritage. I was given espresso and biscuits and the barber went down to work. As we converse, he also worked on the shape up, never forgetting to take out the mirror for me to see the results. What sets it apart from most barbershops in White Plains, which were mostly urban and working class, is the setting with a brick wall facing the barber chairs and mostly catering to a middle class clientele, but there is no competition whatsoever between the shop and others as far as I know. Sometimes, I just need to get pampered for lack of a better word. One of these days, a shave would be nice, but I am in no rush at the moment!

He asked what I wanted, listened and made some recommendations, most of which I took. First a great haircut, then the shave. Hot towel, hot foam, straight edge, an amazing pampering. I'd highly recommend Astrit This was my first visit, I was looking for someplace that would be great with a beard and even though this was much more expensive than I was used to I gave it a shot.

From the very beginning, the experience was unprofessional, humiliating, and left my service incomplete. Two days earlier, on September 12, I had asked Johanna about the Inoa Post product. She told me it was "not necessary" and "too expensive," while referencing another stylist at a different salon. This comment suggested that salon politics, rather than professional judgment, were influencing the guidance I received. During my appointment on September 14, I raised a concern about dye on my skin due to sensitivity. Johanna rolled her eyes, reluctantly removed the dye, and told me I could "just take a Benadryl" instead of addressing the concern properly. Later, as the dye neared its scheduled rinse time, another stylist, Amy, came over, and I politely suggested the dye might need to stay on a little longer. Johanna immediately jumped in with a sarcastic, mocking tone, saying, "Don't you worry about that, we are timing you," then turned to another client, said, "I can't with her," and laughed at me publicly. This was humiliating and completely unprofessional. She then told me that once my hair was rinsed, I had to leave, and referenced a stylist from another salon I used to attend. I asked her to confirm that she and Joseph had received my email, which she eventually did, but this overall response came across as another delay tactic rather than a serious acknowledgment of my experience. Despite my repeated requests for a direct apology from Johanna, management has only offered me two options: to come back into the salon to meet or to accept a refund. While polite on the surface, these responses avoid the core issue--Johanna's mocking, unprofessional behavior, and refusal to apologize. Management states that the matter is being handled professionally, yet after almost three weeks, Johanna has not been asked to take responsibility, and the owner himself has never replied to my email. I also have direct proof showing that I remained calm and polite throughout the appointment and did nothing wrong. This confirms that the humiliation I experienced was entirely due to Johanna's unprofessional behavior. This entire sequence demonstrates unprofessional conduct, public humiliation, gaslighting, and a failure of accountability. While the salon as a business may have offered a surface-level acknowledgment of the situation, the absence of a direct apology from Johanna herself leaves the core issue unresolved. The trauma I experienced--being mocked, embarrassed, and asked to leave mid-service--remains unacknowledged, and management's runaround has only compounded the distress.
