There is a bar area too which was full of folks too. There were two servers for the entire restaurant and they were hustling!! I don't think they ever stopped going from table to table and the back of the house to pick up food. Speaking of food..... it was delicious!! Since it was late (for us), we didn't want a "heavy" meal. These two appetizers (bread & oil, lemon herb shrimp) and the Caprese salad were just right for us to share. I think if we're there a tad earlier, we might have tried their pasta. There was one lady I noticed who was thoroughly enjoying her meal because she kept doing the "happy" dance. If we ever pass through Goshen IN again, we will definitely stop here.

The chili in the loaded fries tasted like it came from an expired can found in a dollar store. The plain fries were fine and the blt was fine. But they certainly didn't make up for the other food. My French toast was thick slices that needed more time in the egg batter before cooking; it was dry in the middle. His biscuit and gravy was okay also; the biscuit was tough. First of all the ambiance is of a 1940 Soda Shop/Diner. I have seen this place on Yelp previously…read morebut I was in Elkhart/South Bend/Warsaw area. When we moved into Goshen it popped up again. What caught my attention was Phosphates. As a child the local dairy had a soda setup and served phosphates. So I had to go and check out the South Side Soda Shop. It was a blast from the past. We were seated immediately and got our drink order in. I got a cherry phosphate and water. I also ordered 1/2 lb of peel and eat shrimp and a Italian Hoagie. The cook got me extra horseradish for my cocktail sauce. They were great. The Italian Hoagie was exactly like an East Coast hoagie. Oil and vinegar with oregano. Topped with tomato, lettuce and banana peppers. It was amazing. My buddy got an orange phosphate and a Philly Cheese Steak which he loved. The service was amazing. The people were great. The place was packed. Wish it was open more often.

I forgot to take pictures cause I was chomping it down. Let's start off with the Apple Butter on the dinner rolls, delicious. The butter was creamy and very flavorful. The rolls were fluffy and yet still thick. Had the Grilled Ham with Mashed Potatoes and Veggie Beef Soup. The soup hit the spot to start my meal off. When that thick cut of ham was placed in front of me, my mouth was watering already. The first bite was juicy and crispy. Grilled just right. Add in a creamy with chunks mashed potatoes. And a great gravy.. I could not have been happier, I am still longing for more! The atmosphere was homestyle for sure. Cozy, felt like I was out in the country at grandmas. Will def be back when I'm in the area again.

The chicken and noodles were fine, but we thought the turkey had more flavor. We've debated both times if we should get the buffet, but on neither visit did it have roast beef nor pie. Pie is the main reason for us dining here and our appetites just don't warrant more than one plate of food (especially all those heavy starches) AND pie, so it isn't worth the extra cost for us. Although again, if the buffet included pie, we'd get it. Also...we were told a 10-15 minute wait but waited more than 30. The hostess claimed they called us on the speaker but we were no more than 20 feet from the hostess stand the ENTIRE time. None of the three of us heard our name. They took my phone number when we arrived but I got no call nor text. People entered and were seated before us. So I went up and asked. She claimed to have called us and rolled her eyes at me.
