This place has been one of my favorite places for many years. Still is. Does it bear noble fish and one world markets prices? No.... but it gives the same feel. You know? This place is family owned. The sushi chef is almost always by himself. It's not no full services restaurant, like noble and one world. Yes you can sit down and eat there but many people do takeout. Ordering from here or dining here, you have to know that he's literally by himself and you're going to have to wait a while for him to make your food. Give him time. Patience people! But I've always known this about this place. So I know what I'm getting myself into coming here. But just an FYI for those who don't know Yes sushi is amazing here. I have been going here since they opened. My friends and I were actually their very first customers. The sushi here is amazing. Every roll has been consistent since day 1. The fish are always fresh and the rolls are always packed right. The have such a great options of rolls and nigari for a very reasonable price. The price would never break your bank. The owner Le has such great customer service, he is the only one that does the sushi so you know it is always consistent. Don't be put off by the size of the place as it's more important the food they put out, no? There are 2 small tables for dining and a long bench for about 4-5 people along the sushi bar. The owner is a one man show, host, the sushi chef and takes the order, and bring out the food and rings you up at the end. We were told to write down our order by the long counter when we walked in with a lined yellow sticky note, small referenced menu affixed to the counter and a poster of the menu with small print on the wall behind the counter. We gave the owner our order and he told us that there were 3 orders before us when we told him we were eating inside. He told us to sit tight as he put out his orders. Do keep your coat on since it's such a small place the cold air from the outside door opening rushes in quick to cool the inside and the patrons. Although I don't expect the wait to be of the same time span of 45min to an hour like at noble fish. We shall see. We are hoping for some yummy sushi since that's all he does, no frills. There is seaweed salad but no house salad available and they do offer miso soup and a few apps and fried items to share the meal, but clearly the focus is on the sushi. At least there are a few interesting articles on the wall to pass the time some about the different sushi, nori story, sushi and soy sauce partnership and et al. Looks like most of the regulars carry out their food here and don't bother wasting time eating in this small place, I get why now. The owner seems friendly enough and busts his butt the entire time there since he's on his own. No overhead to worry about at least. The small tables are on the dirty side, want to clean them so bad, but no water or anything to use to wipe up the table some. Oh and they sell cans of soda or bottles or water or tea in a cooler. I did ask for something to wipe the table off with and the owner told me to have a seat and said "I got it", I sat down. Don't think you will get a glass of water or tea here, just keep reminding yourself it's all about the sushi and nothing more. The owner came out a littler over 20 minutes after we put the order in to wipe down our table. He said 95% of his orders are carry out and that's why he works alone. He said he would be starting our order now. The 4th customer to come in referred to the owner as Lee, looks like most of his peeps are regulars and dedicated on this snow flurry evening. The 5th guy made small talk with the owner and he clearly has a lot of regular customers. The miso is good but a ton of scallions in it, more than I would have expected but still decent. Our sushi order took about 35 minutes to be made and brought out to us, keep that in mind if you want something quick. The shrimp Cali was good and so were the Cali special rolls with the cream cheese and scallions and the avocado were freshly cut for our rolls. My husband enjoyed his crunchy roll the most. Sushi was good overall for a no frills spot. We would come back for more sushi, just keeping in mind the time delay to get our order. read more

Don't be dissuaded by the small store location. I absolutely love finding hidden gems like these. I now live right around the corner from here and before moving, used to only go to Noble Fish. I got really tired of the 60+ min wait at Noble Fish so I found this location via yelp based on all the good reviews and gave it a try instead. I was so very pleased I did. There is just one sushi chef in there who runs the whole entire show. All the rolls are written out on canvas boards on the wall by entrance. You order by writing on the yellow sticky pad on the bench next to the menus and hand it to him when done. There's only about two tables inside and a couple seats by the sushi bar. We ordered for takeout: Mania (Salmon), Healthy, Spicy Tuna, and Yellowtail Scallion. All of which tasted amazing and fresh, so we were very satisfied. Great rice to fish ratios and I enjoyed the quality of the rice too. The preparation took only about 15 mins as we were the only customers at that time. Definitely will be coming back for more in the future! Well priced and reasonable for what you get, but I did feel the pieces on select rolls are a little smaller portioned in comparison to Noble Fish. Tip: Assuming this is how they keep overhead costs down, you will need to indicate whether you want wasabi and ginger included in your order, if any at all or if you want extra. One of the best bang for buck sushi places in SE Michigan. The rice was on point and the portions of fish on the nigiri and in the rolls was solid, bordering generous. Basically one chef doing everything, so service is a little slow, but also means that each item is personally prepared and made by him. Chef has a rough exterior and demeanor but is a softie inside so don't be intimidated. Only thing to keep in mind is that the seating is somewhat limited, so no great for big crowds. read more

The food is decent if you only indulge occasionally, though more experienced and discerning sushi snobs will be letdown. The principal concern is the mushy texture of the rice, which is a tad too moist. It lacks the right texture for individual pieces of sashimi, but is better served in rolls, especially the tempura fried ones, which are interesting and come in ample portion sizes. I figured that I had to go a little wild. That, added to a bowl of miso makes for a hearty-feeling meal. I was satisfied, and very, very full. This isn't an upscale sushi joint, but it's a well-intentioned, cozy place -- very small, but just fine for a quick stop in for lunch. I eat my lunch on the late side, so there wasn't any wait. I love sushi, so I had to try a new spot while in the Detroit area for work. This place had good reviews and it was close so why not! When we pulled up we saw that it was a little hole in the wall place. And when I say little, there were only two tables and a bar thingy to sit at. Now I found out there is one guy that works, I believe him to be the owner and sushi chef. He is very good at what he does, but it takes a while to get your order because he is one guy doing everything. I ordered my favorite roll, the Philadelphia and also one called the Yellowstone. The Philadelphia was great! The salmon was amazing and smokey. The Yellowstone was a baked roll with crab and crab salad and it was piled on! Had I known how big the roll was I would have skipped the philly roll. But I can't even begin to tell you how amazing the Yellowstone was! It had amazing sauce and the crab was rich and flavorful. Tried this place out for the first time after seeing 4.5 stars and everything else was closed. I think this is the first time I've been utterly disappointed with all the sushi I ordered. Very sad about the fact that it was my bfs kids first time trying and it was not good. First, the guy that took my order (also the chef) was not helpful about my choice inquiries. The rice was mushy as hell, second time in my life experience mushy rice sushi. One word - gross. I ordered 4 rolls and they all had more sweet and sour cucumber than anything else, no. Just no. All the meats in the rolls were flavorless, barely tasted the seafood. The vinegary cucumber was also overpowering the rest of the filling. The 2 stars are for decent presentation. I'm a huge sushi fan, and I love to eat here whenever I can get the chance. The prices are very reasonable, and the fish is as good as it gets. What I love most about this place is the nigiri. A few sushi places I've been to charge around $2.50-$3.00 for a piece of tuna or salmon nigiri, and when it arrives, the fish is sliced disappointingly thin. Not so here. The nigiri is $1.99 max (cheapest I've found so far) and sliced a little more on the thick side. A real bargain if you ask me. The fish is also very fresh. Not sure what the other reviewers are talking about, but you won't find overpriced nigiri here. I dare you to find a place with cheaper nigiri for this quality. Definitely try the Healthy roll if you're not a fan of deep-fried stuff or mayonaise-based sauces. As good as it gets. read more

I was turned on to this place by a good friend of mine who dined here very very often. It's funny because she doesn't eat raw fish and only gets cooked rolls haha. I always make fun of her about this because I can't understand why anyone would go to eat and spend money on sushi, but doesn't like the goodness of raw fish. I'm glad I trusted her taste buds when she decided to take me here. First off, the sushi chef/owner is always so friendly and sweet. Secondly, the fish is fresh tasting and of good quality. Third, the sushi chef has flavorful and unique special rolls, with and without raw fish. Most of the rolls that I have tried here are good. I'd just stay away from deep fried rolls, but I don't like this anywhere. What is even funnier is that my favorite roll here is actually the mushroom roll! Best mushroom roll I have ever had. Marinated sweet shiitake mushroom roll with fish eggs and sriracha/mayo sauce on top. I have to eat my words now, since I gave my friend so much crap about going to sushi places and ordering non-raw fish rolls haha. It's okay though, I can admit I was wrong and happily eat my mushroom roll. They get pretty busy during prime time lunch and dinner hours, but the wait is worth it. It's not authentic sushi. The rice is supposed to be the main focus of sushi dish, then the fish. The rice is supposed to be in individual grains and have a nice texture. But that's not what Crazy Sushi is about. Just because it's not authentic, doesn't mean it's not delicious for being what it is: really crazy sushi. We ordered three rolls: crazy love, dragon queen, and crazy tiger. My favorite was definitely the crazy love. We sat at the sushi bar so we got to watch the one man show behind the counter. I was skeptical when I saw how much sauce he was putting onto each piece of sushi before baking it. It was obscene. Then after it came out of the oven, he put on even more sauce! But once I tasted it, I fell in crazy love with the Crazy Love. Although the rice is mushy and it's far from authentic sushi, Crazy Sushi deserves to be recognized for being its own thing. read more

I'm generally a Noble Fish girl, but every once in a while I like to "run with scissors" and check out the competition. Tonight I tried Crazy Sushi, and can honestly say that it's nowhere NEAR taking Noble Fish's place in my sushi-loving heart.. I had a bowl of miso soup and three rolls -- tuna/avocado, yellowtail scallion and eel cucumber. The miso soup was twice the price of Noble Fish, and not nearly as tasty. I like my fermented soybean soup to taste more like fermented soybeans than vegetable stock. Also incredibly annoying was the fact that they did not bring my soup before my meal. They brought the soup WITH the meal. The rolls were fair to pretty good. By far the best was the tuna avocado, followed by the yellowtail scallion. Eel cucumber was nothing to write home about. I was expecting slightly bigger rolls than I received for $5.25 each, but managed. I was charged 50 cents for extra ginger. When my rolls arrived, my ginger portion seemed to be about the same size as everyone else. I asked the guy "this is EXTRA ginger?" He said "you want more"? Damn straight I want more. If you're going to charge me for it, at least make it LOOK like you made an effort to give me something for it. One minor annoyance was the fact that ALL of their beverages are canned and bottled beverages in a refrigerated case. You're selling SUSHI, guys -- a little hot green tea wouldn't kill you, would it? Would I go there again? Probably. It would largely depend on whether I was eating on somebody else's dime. Otherwise, I'll only go there again if Noble Fish is closed. read more

This place reminds me of a restaurant in a video game. It has about 6 places to sit and a little old man behind the sushi bar. So awesome. I would recommend just calling in your order and going to pick it up. You're not going to go here and chill with your friends.
