Ocean State Job Lot is a fun store to visit. It's a chain, so look for the one closest to home…read more This Job Lot is located in a small strip mall with plenty of parking. It's always fun to visit here as you'll find all kinds of things for around your home. Prices can be fantastic or average so keep your eyes out. They have a rewards/membership program though I don't know if I've ever gotten any sort of discount. I'm particularly pleased that they've expanded their hours a bit more. During the pandemic, they started closing every day at PM. That didn't leave much time for shopping after dinner. They finally extended hours back to closing at 8PM. That's a little better. You'll find clothing very cheap and it is what it is. The quality isn't always bad. Thermals and flannels are hardy and last a while. T-shirts, maybe not so much. But for the prices, I think you'll be pleased. Seasonal items for the garden, the pool, around the yard, holiday decorations, you'll find all of that in here. Pure maple syrup is another hot item here. Watch for the sales when it's really cheap. They also have pet supplies and plenty of other home goods. It's overall a fun store!

I MADE OUT LIKE A BANDIT!!!!…read more Giving two kids - 9 and 11 y ears old - a $20 budget for Christmas/Hanuka shopping made me tense given that we were headed to Walmart... However little 9 year old princess convinced her brother and myself that this store was the place... We relented to her. Alas I havent been in that area much, but I do know that Spring Valley had an itsy bitsy AS. Not anymore people! Apparently they are in place of the huge PathMark that used to be there. Although the "local"s are nosy and pushy (sorry, i speak the truth) the kids heaped up gifts that were really smart and fun. My little princess had to have her "maybe" pile and the little guy was pensive adding numbers and choosing wisely. It did take a while, but I'll tell ya - what a huge selection. We walked out with so much stuff, from make your own jewelry box, hello kitty teddy that opened to a blanket, basketball, school lunch bag with a cool key chain, pens, lip gloss that I am highly considering next years budget to be $10.... Great bang for your buck.

It was a dingy third-world bazaar when I lived here 35 years ago and the passing decades have only hardened the crust and deepened the twilight. The past-season designer inventory is pure Marshalls as are the mismatched bar stools and the elephant tusk wine racks. Two other sales associates were there, but really enjoying their personal conversation as I walked around looking lost. No acknowledgment even as I walked right past them. I somehow made eye contact with one of the women at the register. All she said to me from the register was "how are you, everything is 25% off." I smiled, took a pause and realized they have no intention of helping me, so I left and shopped at another store where two sales associates went above and beyond to help me find a holiday outfit with no mention of the deep 60% discount I would be receiving. I received an additional 15 % on text! I wasn't even shopping for a discount, so it was a pleasant surprise. Usually, this location has excellent customer service, so it was surprising. I may go back, but for the price point, would expect some level of appropriate customer service.

My cashier tried guiding me to make it work, but no luck. We both agreed that the old color tag system was better for creating value and discounts. This new rewards program is dreadful. On Sundays, some items would be $1! That's all gone now and replaced with a system that pales in comparison. You can still count on finding some unique items here, but the value and discounts aren't what they used to be.
