Woah..... if you think you've had the best hot…read moredog..ConeyIslandChicagoHebrewNationalOscarMeyer...well you really haven't! Sorry folks.. Denmark has gotten us pretty beat. How you ask? First let's call it by its rightful name: Polse ("pool-seh") translates to sausage, but what it really signifies here is hot dog. Copenhagen, like New York City, is a great street-dog town. Now, let's talk about the variety: bacon hot dog, veggie, Umami, pork, roasted hot dog Then, the toppings: chopped onions, fried onions, mustard, mayo, ketchup, cucumbers Where to find it? Metro stations, street, kiosks. My friends, do you want to see a happy tourist.. the one with a mustard ketchup mustache, dripping down the chin! This little kiosk serves the most delicious hot dogs and vegan is on the menu! The staff are sweet and personable. They take the hot dog business very seriously, as they should! "Hanegal refers to a Copenhagen-based food company specializing in organic products, and it is also the name of a specific organic hot dog stand (often associated with DØP) located at Købmagergade 52A, Rehlat. The bread is whole grain, from slowly raised dough and topped with linseeds. Hanegal sausages are a key ingredient in DØP's gourmet organic hot dogs, which are sold from stands near the Round Tower and Church of the Holy Ghost. " Once you've tried a Danish hot dog, there is NO going back! To get there: Hop a flight to Denmark Take Metro, M2 yellow line to Norreport. Find Round tower and cart is right outside.

Ranked as the 6th best burger in the world by Food and Wine magazine in 2024 ("Organic beef…read morecheeseburger with onions, pickles, and a house Gasoline Sauce. $16 "), the Gasoline Grill hamburger restaurant has multiple locations throughout Denmark. It's one of those things where I was glad I stopped by, but didn't really experience anything with the food or ambiance that would make me recommend this as a out-of-the way stop that the ranking would seem to suggest. This one is the original, using the station building as a walk-up window with the kitchen inside. They have a few picnic tables on the side for outdoor dining, and I do think that it's important to eat the burger as soon as possible. The interesting thing is that it is still a working gas station, with an island with multiple pumps dispensing petrol (which I didn't see being used during my wait) and some electric charging stations (which was actively being used). I was able to place my order (nothing customized, just wanted exactly as they described after about a 10 minute wait, got my lemonade right away, and waited another 10 minutes to get my food (everything is made-to-order). The cheeseburger was 110 DKK, fries was 40, lemonade was 35, and dipping sauce was 10 with 10 off for being a combo. So total was 185 DKK (about $28.88 in USD). The process and food reminded me very much of a Shake Shack, with the young workers working together to produce well-made smashburgers using great ingredients. The color scheme reminds me of a Wingstop, though. I squeezed between a couple of single diners and dug in. The burger was good, with that loose smash burger quality. It came with a mayo based thousand island like sauce (their gasoline sauce), and had tomato, pickles, red onion slices, and a gooey, plentiful cheese. The lemonade was good, and the hint of elderflower made it memorable. The crinkle fries were good, well done fried which I appreciate. Ate the meal fast before my hands started to freeze up, tossed the remains in the gas station islands garbage bin and was on my way. I really do think a food like this is all about where you eat it...if on an airplane, or at a ballpark, or at the beach...yeah, I could see the appeal. But at a gas station in freezing weather on a picnic table...not so much.

The bun held up beautifully without getting soggy, and the fries on the side were crispy and golden. You can tell they really care about quality ingredients here. The ambiance was great too; casual and relaxed but still with a cool vibe that makes it feel like more than just a quick stop. It's the kind of spot where you can hang out with friends, enjoy good food, and not feel rushed. Service was excellent. The staff was friendly, quick with recommendations, and checked in at just the right times without hovering. Everything came out promptly, and you could see they genuinely wanted customers to have a good experience.

Located right by the metro, this place tends to get really crowded, especially later at night. The lines can be long, but I find that even what it's crazy hectic, the food comes out at a reasonably quick speed. It's hot and fresh and tastes just as good as any other location. No complaints.

I was excited to try some of the odd Danish specials and in my head didn't want to default to a low review just because it was fast food. However, the reason for the low review is the people and the food. This location is 24 hours, there was a huge gang of teenagers outside smoking and getting rowdy on Friday night. Inside, you order at kiosks and the eating area is upstairs. When we first went up it was fine but after a couple minutes more teens started coming up. Worst thing is I was with 2 small kids and they were up there vaping indoors and acting like asses, my kids were horrified. Hamburger with bernaise: Excited to try but when I got it most of the bernaise was on the outside of the burger and not inside. Pink french fries: Got this to try something special but they were normal fries. Nobody working there said anything. Pink sprite: Tasted OK but very artificial. The kids did like the chicken nuggets and said they could tell they were a little different than the ones in the US.

You would have thought these people are doing community service or forced into taking these jobs. You wouldn't know. The burgers are perfectly cooked, and the crisp vegetables and pillowy bun make everything even better! There is a nice variety of canned beverages, including beer, and we stuck with soda. Be forewarned that, at least at this location, there are no places to sit, and there is just a counter to stand and eat at. We were on the move and figured we'd just eat there. Even if you take it to a hotel room, you might stink it up for a while! Therefore, standing and eating isn't the worst plan, especially when it's this food. (Time to drool like Homer Simpson.) My husband randomly brings this up when someone mentions burgers, he sees one in a commercial, etc. This restaurant sets the standard for burgers anywhere in the world. The cheeseburger we had was very tasty, and we also tried the French fries with their herb dip, which was a delicious addition. Overall, the burger was excellent, but I personally still prefer POPL, the burger restaurant from the team behind Noma.
