I can only repeat what was said in the other reviews about the Crawfords! They are the absolute BEST repair business - I would say business in general - that I have EVER dealt with! I drove in without an appointment in late August after having been rear-ended in my SUV. Coincidentally, my husband was away for a week and I had no one else to help me decide one repair shop over another and I did not want to make my husband concerned because he was on a much-deserved trip! So I was trying to navigate this on my own. Barb met me with a smile and was extremely sympathetic and understanding of my plight. She called Steve to come out and look at my car and he immediately said it should not be driven and I wasn't safe in it, so they took over as my ADVOCATES and fought all the battles on my behalf. Wow, am I ever glad I went there instead of somewhere else! They explained, briefly and completely, all my options and MOST IMPORTANTLY, all my legal rights! They are experts at how the insurance systems work and they know what they can and cannot do legally. I was completely taken care of! They got me a rental car which was delivered right to the shop and I was able to drive home from there without any problems and didn't pay a PENNY to the rental agency because they knew how to deal with the insurance company of the person who hit me. They stayed in touch with me and we worked out all the issues as time went on, even though they ended up having to keep my old car, which was declared to be totaled, on their lot for over 2 months until the insurance stuff was all figured out. The whole experience was so positive, warm, and supportive that I would recommend their business to anyone and everyone who needs them! The woman behind the front desk did not like me asking questions. She seemed very frustrated, almost as if she didn't know how to do her job. She became very argumentative and confrontational. It is like she never dealt with a customer. I know most times when the police are involved you don't gat much of choice as to where your car is towed to. If you do have a choice do not take it here. read more

This was one of the worst experiences I have had at an autobody shop. My car was totaled in an accident that was pretty scary that left me with some injuries. I went to get my belongings from the car and sign the release form and the male associate met me by questioning my intelligence saying "why would I give away possession of something that is mine." Mind you, it was also his observation that my car was likely a total loss. The woman there met me with some sympathy as she could tell I was upset by the way I was being treated, but the next day when my insurance company reached out to let them know I did in fact need to sign the release form, she replied with such hostility and arrogance making assumptions about the information I received from them. It was so off putting and if I had any choice as to where my car got towed after this traumatizing accident I definitely would not have chosen this place. They made everything more difficult than it needed to be and claim to be looking out for their customers when they are just rude and disrespectful to their customers. read more

Barb and Steve at Crawford's are great! I've had the misfortune to need body repairs on my Ford Escape several times and have taken it to Crawford's every time. I wouldn't go anywhere else! The repairs are done in a timely and professional manner. Prices for the repairs have never seemed too high. When you pick up your car you'll find it has been vacuumed and the windows cleaned! read more

Well first of all, yesterday, on December 9th, 2025, I got stalled on Route 30 West at the end of the exit ramp in my 1992 Buick Riviera Landau. I fortunately had a former VA female coworker see me stopped on the at the end of the exit ramp getting ready to get onto Route 30. I was headed to Kinzers, PA to go out to eat for dinner at The Brass Eagle. But needless to say I didn't get to make it there. The female co worker was willing to drive me back to my house to pick up my other car that had jumper cables. I got the keys to my LTC and drove back to the Buick Riviera to hopefully be able to jump start it with my LTC since I had jumper cables in the trunk. As I was going back to where my Buick was, I figured it would be hard to swing my LTC around to be able to jump start the Buick. I realized that I needed to call 911 to get assistance because of where my car was in an emergency area. Right when I got to my Buick, I did get to see that a Park Ranger was viewing the situation but by the time I was able to park my car to go out and talk to him, the Park Ranger left. It took a few minutes till a State Trooper showed up to assist me. He asked me what was wrong with the car. I said it wouldn't stop. I had told the Officer that I had already called the projected shop where I was going to see if I could have it towed to Gazzerros Towing and Automotive of Thorndale, PA. But the officer mentioned that it would be better for them to call for tow truck on my behalf rather than me making the arrangements. I mentioned to the Officer that I would have to pay for the tow and of course he said yes, more than likely. The Officer said due to the fact that I was stuck in a very tight situation right along Route 30 that they needed to get the car towed. The Officer had asked me for my ID which I volunteered to give to him. He kept if for quite a while until after the flat bed tow truck driver showed up. Who responded was Crawfords Auto Center of Downingtown, PA. Chris, the flat bed tow truck driver is the one who responded to the call that was requested through the local police department. While the Police Officer and I was standing there waiting for the driver Chris to pull the car up onto the flat bed. That is when the Police Officer returned my Drivers License to me. The Officer asked me if I had any other questions before he went back to his unit. The Officer waited on the tow truck driver and I to drive off before he left. He drove out behind me. The tow driver Chris asked me to meet him at the Turkeyhill on Route 82 to get to be in a safe place. I had told Chris that I would follow him or meet him at Gazzerros Towing in Thorndale from the Turkeyhill Convenience Store. Chris got to the shop before I did by a couple minutes. Chris asked me if I had AAA and I said "Yes, I am a Plus Member". So with that I do honestly believe that between Chris and Crawfords Auto Center took advantage of both me being a AAA member and took advantage of me given the pick up point where the Buick was on Route 30. It's not like I was being towed from a very bad auto accident. I was just in a bad area of Route 30. After meeting Chris, the flat bed tow driver at Gazzerros Towing, he asked me if I was a AAA Member and I said "Yes, I am". He just wanted me to know that I knew I could turn the receipt in to get reimbursed". I honestly feel and think that although Chris was wanting to help me out by knowing that, it was between him and the tow driving company to charge me a BIG $340 of which $40 was for the mileage of 8 miles that he had to travel to drop off my car at the shop in Thorndale. I was so star struck that I was being charged a really rediculous amount for the flat bed pick up and tow to go a big 8 miles. I honestly feel that I was taken advantage of and charged this rediculous amount by Crawford's Auto Center. Even Frank, the owner of Gazzerros Towing and Automotive Center that himself is contracted with the state to be called upon for tows when they are called by the authorities. Frank himself that I should have only been charged like $150 for the same tow and not the rediculous amount of $340. I will be reporting this to the Public Utilities Commission as well. I will not stop in reporting this infraction done by Crawfords. I know that tow truck drivers are out to make commission off of tows but they need to be reasonable and have decent enough of ethics too and don't screw the normal consumer that needs help. I even used to work for AAA but as a Emergency Road Service Counselor back in 1995-1998 in Fairfax, Virginia. This will definitely be reported to the PUC asap. Something needs to be done with tow companies in their price points in the amount they charge people that need their services in tough times in need like I was. Could not have imagined a better more customer oriented place to take my car - from here on out this is the only place I will recommend or take my car to. Crawford's coached me through an almost 2 month long claims process (with an insurance company that was creating hassles and obstacles )to get to a settlement for my totaled vehicle. They went out of their way to literally educate me on how my policy works and how insurance claims work from start to finish. I wanted this educational process and feel it is invaluable to me as a young consumer. I also do not know where else I could have been taught this other than a willing, highly educated person which the owner Steve is. Because of them my settlement came to be fair and reasonable to me as a consumer despite the insurance company. They are honest, kind, patient, and giving of their time. I would place Crawford's above the rest and in their own category. I didn't get work done on my car since my circumstances were not applicable to that but I certainly Will if I ever need it. They have been around for over 30 years. I can see that they have been keeping customers happy for a long time. read more

I would like to give a negative star but unable. As I was standing waiting to be helped, the lady who answers phones and waits on customers is rude as hell. As she hung up she would say with an attitude "like I don't have anything else to do". I don't see that being great customer service. They overcharged the person I was there with and while waiting on out tow truck to pick up the car, they (and I quote) "didn't have anyone who would be willing to work over (they closed earlier than their website) a few minutes" to allow our tow truck driver back to pick up the car so after waiting 2 hours, we had to wait till the next day and reschedule the pick up. I would literally walk, uber or hitchhike a horse and buggy before i rely on any help from this company. Google anyone/anywhere else. read more

Great customer service, honest and excellent work. Was in a tough spot when I had issues with not being able to open my rear front and passenger doors after a fender bender. This business is close to my house and I drive past it almost everyday. Pulled in without an appointment to hopefully have someone take a look and give me an estimate. Was also hoping to avoid going through insurance. The front office is professionally decorated and staff very helpful. Without having me wait, they came out front and evaluated the situation and walked me through my options to repair. Its an older car and I did not want to spend thousands of $. I was not at all pressured or manipulated to get the entire side replaced which I'm sure would have been the case if I would have gone through a dealer. I chose to have the car doors made operable for the time being and will take some time to decide what I want to do about the dents. They took the car in immediately and did a great job fixing the doors...they open and close like new. I felt the cost of the job was more then reasonable and I was very pleased with my entire experience at Crawfords. I highly recommend this body shop and will be using them(hopefully not too frequently) in the future. read more

This is the first time that I have ever submitted a review of a business on Yelp or any other site. Never have I reviewed a meal at a restaurant or customer service at a store. I never felt compelled to talk in a public forum about two businesspeople until now. Steve and Barb at Crawfords are knowledgeable about auto body repair and how the auto insurance industry works. Even more than that, they care about their customers as people. After my car was declared totaled by my insurance adjuster my insurance company send me an email stating how much they would pay me for the loss. It seemed low but I assumed I had to accept it. Steve and Barb could have easily walked away but instead they gave me an in depth tutorial on how insurance companies determine the value of a vehicle and what I could do to ensure I received the maximum value for my totaled car. This advice turned out to be worth thousands of dollars - to me, not to Crawfords. They patiently explained what to ask the insurance company. When I called my insurance adjuster he responded positively to my request and increased their valuation, so now I have a few thousand dollars in my pocket that I would not have had without their help. The astounding part was that Crawfords did not make one cent from helping me. They did it, they said, because they care about their customers. Who does that anymore? It was like going back in time. This is the best way I can describe Barb and Steve as people and professionals. If you needed legal help or medical attention you would try to find the best lawyer or doctor to help you. You would certainly hope you could find someone who was competent, but you would also hope to find someone caring, someone you could trust. I don't know the best doctor or lawyer in Chester County, but I do know the best auto body collision repair business. If you find yourself in need of auto body repair do yourself a huge favor and go to Crawfords, and while they fix your car, marvel at the way they treat you with patience, compassion and integrity. I can't say enough good things about Crawford's. They took excellent care of me from the minute my car was towed there. Offered to help me with the car rental store, any other post follow-up work that may need to be done etc. They also assisted me in getting things out of my car during the time it was being fixed, any time I called, I was treated with a friendly voice and kindness. When my car was done, it looked fantastic. Also, it was very clean, outside and in. They had even emptied my trash bag! If I ever need body work again (I hope not) I will definitely go there. Great service. I had a mechanical issue with my Jeep Wrangler and they were able to fit me in right away and I was also able to get my PA state inspection done while my Jeep was at Crawford's. I heard great things about Crawford's from friends and family. My brother who is a US Marine got hit down at the beach two days after he got his 2014 Subaru BRZ. My brother was on leave for 3 weeks and needed to get in right away and Crawford's was able to accommodate his needs and handled any issues with his insurance company. His Subaru BRZ looks great and runs great!! I highly suggest Crawford's plus they are a family owned business and have been around for years. read more
