Crawfish are amazing.. But I will not be standing in line for hours waiting on a table! If you are local I'd just hold off until you see it open but not crazy busy (there is a 20 minute window so hurry in). The playground inside is cool. Byob is always awesome. (There is a liquor store / packaging co right past the South Diamondhead light). The ambience is really fun, country, a little wild sometimes. People drive from all over to eat here, but if you live here just wait out the crowds. read more

We tried this place out for the first time yesterday. Went through the drive through. There were 3 cars in front of me..so about a 20min drive thru wait. Ordered 5lbs of Meaux spicy crawfish..and boy it was really spicy :) the crawfish tasted great and was big and fresh. Would come here again. Omg I LOVE this place! Been coming since 2011 and I'm always impressed as if it was my first time. The Mo Spicy is my favorite and to die for along with the corn, potatoes and mushrooms. I love how they've remolded over the last few openings and they are BYOB. It's always super packed on opening day for the Drive thru and for dine in which have 2 separate dates. If you follow them on FB or IG you will know when they will open because it's always different each year depending on the weather for the catch. I would have to say this is the best place for crawfish. I've tried other places and they are ok but something about this place and their seasonings just make it that much better. Try try try and stop by if you are in the area or just want to take a nice ride out to Crosby!! read more

Went to crawfish shack for Sunday afternoon dinner. Overall the place is good. Amanda was our waitress and she was very attentive keeping our drinks refilled and buckets emptied. Amanda provided great service. The crawfish were delicious I had two pounds of medium spice, my daughter had two pounds of hot spice and my husband had 5 pounds of meaux spice crawfish. All were seasoned to ordered. The only issue was the bathrooms only one lady stall and one men stall all by the water sink to wash ur hands. This area gets chaotic as its 3 lines it's difficult to determine who is in which line. The Crawfish Shack is also BYOB which is nice. I recommend loading up your ice chest with beer or whatever u drinking and spend some time at the Shack. But piss before ya go read more

Crawfish shack is hands down the best crawfish and seasoning! I have on many occasions pushed their seasoning for a boil we held, and everyone was mind blown. We also love to purchase the crawfish already cooked from them as well. This was our first year eating at the crawfish shack. We literally ate there at least 20 times during the season. Not impressed for as long as my party had to wait. Arrived at 6:30pm and seated at our table by 8:45pm Management needs to enforce their own rules on registering parties. Tables for 15+ will be seated faster, or they were on the night we visited. 2 groups (15 and 17) which signed in a good 5 parties after mine were seated first. Mine a party of a meager 5. Management also needs to supply more seating outside for those waiting 1+hours. I had to sit on the ground with a sprung ankle no seating was available and we even asked a few young people politely. No courtesy to older adults at this establishment from other patrons and workers have their handful of their own problems. I could go on but won't! The food..... Don't order children's menu. You are better off with the bag of chips that comes with it. Well be making an extra stop on the way home to get fast food cooked better. (Can't believe i just said that) Now the boiled items..... the level of spice is a joke. Powder sprinkled on the Crawfish etc.. does not do the food justice. The heat/spice comes from how it is boiled! They got this wrong big-time. Shrimp ehhh same. Etouffee and red beans & rice.... just put it this way, I will be sticking to my own cooking before I would venture here again. The $135+ bill wasn't worth it. I must be a spoiled Louisiana cook thinking I would find a hidden treasure. I would not recommend this place to my closest friends. read more

I did not try crawfish which makes no sense. Hubby didn't want to share and I could not commit to eating all of them alone. Had crab legs and shrimp. I would go again with a crawfish eater. My favorite thing here is not the crawfish, although they are awesome! What I love most are the red beans and rice! The bowl should be shared, because it's a big portion, but I swear I could probably eat it all by myself. The main attraction are the crawfish. They are always the biggest crawfish found in the greater Houston and surrounding areas, in my experience. Lots of tasty, spicy seasoning and you decide how spicy you get them. I like eating the Meaux Spicy, but sometimes when I want to cut back on the sodium and heat I'll stick with the Mild. One of the cool things about crawfish shack is the environment. Lots of people watching, good music, laid back atmosphere, and it's BYOB. You are guaranteed a fun experience. read more

BYOB.... Outside but covered seating with a playground to occupy children if necessary. There was a bit of a wait but the were efficient and worth it. Today was their last day of the season so I was unable to try the chicken and sausage gumbo. Crawfish was good. Got the meaux spicy. I was very satisfied. I usually have to dip my crawfish in extra seasoning because the seasoning is heavily battered on the outside. Not necessary with this spot. Go try it out! read more

This place was not over rated at all!!! Yes the wait is longer than most places but the quality of crawfish you get is amazing! They are smaller this year on average but not here! GREAT STAFF, PROPERLY COOKED AND SEASONED CRAWFISH! We arrived on a week day around 2pm in the afternoon. It wasn't too busy because we were able to find a decent parking space. We were greeted with a friendly smile and seated immediately. The weather was great so we sat on the "patio". There was plenty of room on the table and spacious. We ordered 8lbs of crawfish along with potatoes and corn. Crawfish were a decent size because I was able to suck the pinchers and get meat. Very well seasoned with the right amount of kick. Potatoes and corn were okay. The seasoning and butter are the best, love dipping the tails in it. Our waiter was awesome, he was always checking on us and very knowledgeable . I really enjoy the BYOB concept. It's really hard to find decent sized , well seasoned , and properly cooked crawfish around these parts. Just had dinner here tonight with my girlfriend. The wait service was fantastic! Truly. The crawfish, shrimp, and crab legs are sold by the pound and also in specific combos. We got the Shack Trio which consisted of 2 lbs of boiled crawfish, 1/2 lb of boiled shrimp, 1/2 lb of crab legs. The crab legs were arguably the best (but I am biased towards crab coming from the north). The shrimp were fantastic as well. Truly amazing shrimp. This was my first time eating crawfish, so it's hard to be a critic here, but the waiter explained how to eat the crawfish and they were pretty good. I am not sure that crawfish is going to be a regular item for me, but this place is definitely top notch. They also have sides. We got the corn on the cob and the potatoes. The corn had a great flavor to it. We will definitely be back! Also, they sell t-shirts that are pretty cool looking for only $10. Make sure to bring your own beer (such a cool concept). Wish they sold Abita brews, but the BYOB is a nice option too! read more

My family and I have been coming here for years and we come very very often. Never have we had any "pond creatures" as the owner referred to them as in our food. We found a snail while digging into our 4th pound of crawfish. Not only this but the owner continued to try to convince me that they had boiled things like this before and the list continues with bugs and turtles. I don't know everything there is to know about crawfish but I do know that I have been coming here and other places for crawfish for years and this has never happened. I've never encountered this with boiling our own crawfish at home (which we do often) and our server even said herself she has never seen it happen. Nothing else was done to try to make me feel better about the food we had already eaten. Will not be returning. read more

Shrimp is on the menu and I was anticipating some fresh gulf shrimp, not small processed shrimp that were cooked too salty to enjoy, almost too salty to eat. The mushrooms were also salty. The red potatoes were fine but the corn was the kind you buy frozen at your local grocery store and was cooked until it was mush.
