What an excellent find on the lower east side…read more Mrs. E. is a sweet crepe aficionado. If it's not honey and butter she would've ordered the apple, caramel and walnut crepe. She reports an excellent experience! I tried the more savory Smoked Turkey with shrooms and Swiss Cheese. As big as they are, it was so good I was still thinking of getting seconds. They also have vegetarian, fruit and chocolate crepes. They are open until 2am. Not that we'd ever need it, it's nice to know. We stopped at a good time mid-morning, not too long a line and it moved pretty fast. The place is a bit small but there's seating outside. If there wasn't so much NYC to see, we would definitely be back. 10/24

Solid! We spent 3 weeks in Paris in the springtime and I fell even more in love with crêpes and…read moregalettes while there, so naturally I'm searching for good crêpes at home. Creperie on Ludlow St came up in my search and we happened to be down that way on Sunday. I'm also a huge ice cream and gelato fan, but husband is lactose intolerant so he prefers non-dairy. Last year we discovered the amazing vegan ice cream at Orchard Grocery, but I wanted the real thing this trip and he apparently hadn't wanted a frozen treat at all so wouldn't do Orchard Grocer for himself and a different place for me. Happy medium? Share a good crêpe! We found it at Crêperie. SO many choices, many similar to ones we loved in France. Extensive selection, but it didn't take long to decide on the apple-walnut-caramel crêpe to share, costing not much more than 2 ice creams. We watched the lone young man as he poured batter onto the round griddle to just the perfect thinness; as he expertly flipped it; as he loaded on plenty of apple compote, plenty of walnuts, and gently squeezed caramel sauce. Then he folded it into a neat rectangle, scooped it into an exactly the same size pan, flipped the whole thing over onto another griddle and left it to heat while he made a crêpe for the person behind us. At exactly the right moment (was he watching the clock? or maybe he's just THAT good!), he flipped it over, slid the crêpe onto a plate, artistically drizzled more caramel sauce on top and then gently shook some powdered sugar over it. Handed me 2 forks and knives and we sat on stools at the counter for our Sunday afternoon treat! Excellent! They have several savory crêpes (in Paris, those were usually buckwheat crêpes called galettes) and many sweet ones. Unfortunately it's more of a takeout place, with just the few stools at a counter inside, and a couple of small tables outside. I'm still looking for a genuine Parisian-style restaurant with a good selection of galettes and crêpes - but this was a great find and I definitely recommend it to you!

A few more details because I have grown to love this place:…read more First, a definite highlight -- they have FREE coffee top ups (extra hot water for tea), which is unheard of in NYC and also makes it a great deal! The creamed spinach crepe and smash burgers are also amazing. Love their Sunday brunch vibe (they were closed last Sunday and we were very bummed about it).

Upon entering, there's a bar and crepe making station, with plenty of seating throughout, along with an outdoor area in the back. My friend had called previously to try to make a reservation, but was told the place doesn't accept them. When we arrived and asked if we could be seated together as much as possible, the hostess was not the nicest about it, saying we need to let the restaurant know in advance, which we tried to do. She proceeded to state that we would need to order a mix of crepes and from the dinner menu. Mind you, this is a newish business and there was nobody dining there at the time. Our group agreed to order from both the crepe and dinner menu, so we were able to all sit together toward the indoor back area. I ended up sharing an entree and crepe with a friend. We ordered the Steak Frites and Ground Beef savory Crepe. The Steak Frites consisted of hanger steak with garlic butter and fries. This was delicious! Steak was slightly crispy on the edges, juicy, and full of wonderful flavor from the butter. The fries were satisfyingly crispy and delightfully potato-y. As the Crepes were made, the yummy scent permeated the restaurant. The Crepe was also tasty, and wish I was able to try ground beef Crepe mixed with caramelized onion, but my friend asked for that to be left out. This was cooked perfectly and the tender, well seasoned beef combined well with the gooey melty cheese. For dessert, I had a scoop of Coffee Gelato, which was already pre scooped and served in a glass cup. This was pretty good, nicely creamy, and not too sweet. However, it tasted more like regular ice cream than gelato. Service in the beginning wasn't the best, but definitely improved. Our waiters were pleasant. As there are 100 types of Crepe on the menu, I would return to try some Crepes, both savory and sweet, such as Ham, Brie, Tomato and Pesto; Nutella, Marshmallows, Graham Crackers and Chocolate Drizzle; Guava, Ricotta and Chocolate Sauce, as well as Apple, Dulce de Leche and Cinnamon.

Dessert crepe, with a not-too-sweet filling and a scoop of ice cream. A great (and large, easily shareable) end to a delicious dinner.

CREPES NYC On one of…read moremy few visits last Winter 2021 to Bay Plaza Mall, I spied from the corner of my eye a shuttered Crepe eatery. My thoughts were, this must be one of many spots to succumb to the dreaded Coronavirus. Fast forwarding to Spring 2022, I noticed Crepes NYC open. Cool! I have been longing for a crepe that would bring back happy thoughts of my Paris visit. I wanted to test the product and opted for the Classic: Butter, Lemon and Sugar, as that's all that is needed imo when it comes to a crepe. Nope, wait, there's one more item, Nutella of course. The hot crepe was served with Whipped Cream. I didn't ask for whipped cream. It ended up melting, making the crepe soggy. Regrettably, Crepes NYC missed the mark. What I received I wouldn't call a crepe. It was a smidge too thick, which threw the texture off and to add it was burnt. One bite and a half and I unfortunately had to throw it out. Too thick and soggy. Weird. Another disappointing experience. I guess I'll have to add learning how to make my own crepes or take a trip back to Paris. I'd prefer the latter. Sorry Bronxites, Crepes NYC is giving you their distorted version of a crepe. It might be good for some, though I know it's not good for me. I definitely won't be back. PROS: Clean interior Nice exterior façade Boba's available Bass heavy hip hop pumping to draw the curious CONS: Not a crepe
