Although we've owned a peloton bike for over 4 years, we still come to this studio several times a week because we enjoy the classes and the camaraderie of the other spin regulars. The studio is very clean, the equipment is well maintained, and the instructors are top notch. My wife and I have taken spin classes at other gyms, including when we travel, but so far, we rate our experience at Crank Cycle the best. Denise, the owner, is very personable and bubbly and her enthusiasm is contagious. My wife combines her spin experience with participation in the challenging Shredz class that precedes the spin classes, so she really gets a great workout for 1.25 hours (spin classes are 45 minutes).

So before my second class in her studio I told her I needed to talk to her again, she was annoyed when I brought up an issue I had with her as a member. I was upset and I raised my voice and she immediately raised her voice back. As an owner of the business, you can not do that. It's unprofessional. I pay a big membership for her studio and instead of trying to resolve the issue when I said I will continue at her studio until the end of the month she told me to leave now and will credit me back for the month very nasty. So I packed my stuff up and left. No resolution, just very abrupt and nasty. No customer service as an owner and professionalism at all. She had her business partner watch me pack my stuff and leave. Then when I messaged her to let me know when she issued me a credit, I got a response back: "Why are you texting me, I'm going to block you". That fact and response alone was not professional for an owner of a spin studio. This was an unfortunate event and not expected from a person I have known for over 20 years. I am hoping she at least is true to her word and credits me the month back after she told me to leave.

My attention was not on her at the time. I decided they can keep my money since I guess they need it more than I do, and I stuck with the classes. The women are knowledgeable with their adjustments and assisting the movements, their queuing is specific, the classes are always tough and great for toning/muscle building. The facility is clean and set up nicely. The front desk staff are sometimes instructors too, and like what they do. Another weird money issue I had with them is midway through my few months contract, I had to freeze my account and sent an email to staff. They got back to me quickly, which was helpful, saying that'd be fine and there's a $15 fee for that. I understood, yet it is frustrating as a person who's already paying a good sum of $ for their classes. I know it's corporate to do things like this - have contracts, charge fees, and have lots of disclosures. The same pieces of garbage remain on the bathroom floors for several days at a time, and the sinks and toilets are rarely cleaned--using the bathroom is a very unpleasant experience. The paper towel dispensers are frequently empty, and aren't checked for hours at a time, never mind filled. The staff rarely leaves the front desk. I use other Planet Fitness facilities as well, and none are as filthy and nasty as this one. The manager at Centereach had said many times that she will act to change things, but it continues to get worse.

I tried the classic ride with Tara, it was so much fun! I loved that they incorporated some upper body workout with weights. Tara was so much fun the 45 min ride really flew by. They have water and towels available which really came in handy as I was not prepared with one. After the ride they had a booth for Yoga6 and Home Long Island - Maria's own brand. The locker rooms are often spotless, too, and they have self-programmable lockers near the turf area in case people forget their locks, which is good because I forget my lock sometimes. The showers consistently have hot water, and the sauna is a comfortable temperature. The front desk and office staff are consistently friendly and helpful. The only negative is that sometimes music laced with profanity plays, and I prefer artists who do not curse.
