Although we've owned a peloton bike for over 4 years, we still come to this studio several times a week because we enjoy the classes and the camaraderie of the other spin regulars. The studio is very clean, the equipment is well maintained, and the instructors are top notch. My wife and I have taken spin classes at other gyms, including when we travel, but so far, we rate our experience at Crank Cycle the best. Denise, the owner, is very personable and bubbly and her enthusiasm is contagious. My wife combines her spin experience with participation in the challenging Shredz class that precedes the spin classes, so she really gets a great workout for 1.25 hours (spin classes are 45 minutes).

Then when I went to class today before training I once again tried to talk to her but she was too busy to talk to me. So before my second class in her studio I told her I needed to talk to her again, she was annoyed when I brought up an issue I had with her as a member. I was upset and I raised my voice and she immediately raised her voice back. As an owner of the business, you can not do that. It's unprofessional. I pay a big membership for her studio and instead of trying to resolve the issue when I said I will continue at her studio until the end of the month she told me to leave now and will credit me back for the month very nasty. So I packed my stuff up and left. No resolution, just very abrupt and nasty. No customer service as an owner and professionalism at all. She had her business partner watch me pack my stuff and leave. Then when I messaged her to let me know when she issued me a credit, I got a response back: "Why are you texting me, I'm going to block you". That fact and response alone was not professional for an owner of a spin studio. This was an unfortunate event and not expected from a person I have known for over 20 years. I am hoping she at least is true to her word and credits me the month back after she told me to leave.

At 68, I wanted to stay in shape but was completely unschooled. Perfect timing. Facilities are well maintained. Staff welcoming. And my hundreds of questions answered. And Hannah. When I signed up I was told I would be supported, supervised and instructed by "the best". Well. An absolute truth. Emphatic and encouraging, Hannah's instructions succinct and effective. Yes, I ache, but am absolutely feeling physically better, improved balance too. Thank you.

Each trainer has a different style, but their energy is high and commitment to personal and achievable improvement is clearly evident. Hannah was the first personal trainer I met at the SB location -- I cannot say enough wonderful things about her -- I love her style, energy, and commitment to healthy living. We talk about many things health-related, including diet, nutrition, lifestyle, and the importance of self care. She encourages me at my most fatigued, and delivers great results. Kolja is another member of my training team, and his encouragement, patience, and enthusiasm peppered with lots of humor makes the routines enjoyable and achievable. His military service is inspirational and a great part of why he is so dedicated to carrying out all "missions" for his gym clients. Kyle is the third of my favorites at the SB location -- his friendliness, patience with clients of all abilities, enthusiasm, humor, and love for good country music to work out by are all a part of his unique style. He knows when to push and when to encourage in a creative individualized way. Even though all of my trainers are young enough to be my children, I respect their knowledge, enthusiasm, patience, concern, and most of all, their professionalism. I couldn't have asked for a better team to make me feel comfortable and to help me get into a healthier lifestyle. Love them!! Highly recommend them all!

I purchased a silver package for 2 trainings sessions a week at the rate of $445.00 a month. As a commitment to myself, I signed up for AUTOPAY on my credit card with payment due on the first of the month. On Thursday, 8/8/19, I notified Roy that the monthly payment wasn't showing on my credit card. He said it must have been a glitch in his system, and he thanked me for my honesty. It was the right and respectful thing to do. Too bad he doesn't want to return that same level of respect to me. I signed the contract understanding I could "terminate the relationship at any time and for any reason with no obligation due to the client" (myself) "beyond a freeze or transfer of any unused sessions." From 7/2/19-10/28/19, I had 5 unused sessions: Monday, 9/30/19 (cancelled by Roy for his own personal reasons), Wednesday, 10/2/19, Wednesday, 10/9/19 (cancelled by Roy for his own personal reasons), Wednesday, 10/16/19, and Wednesday, 10/30/19. On Monday, 10/28/19, I advised Roy that I would be in Florida for 2 weeks in November and would only be able to attend possibly 3 classes for the month. I also advised that I would be back in Florida for 2 weeks in December and for personal reasons, I would not be coming at all in December. I requested the AUTOPAY to be suspended. He suggested (not demanded as he accused me of saying) that I continue my workouts in December and to get "a head start on the New Year." I explained to him, that wouldn't make sense to me as I already had 5 unused days, and I would never be able to use these extra days. I left my session on 10/28/19 very disappointed with his response. My next scheduled appointment was Monday 11/4/19. On Friday, 11/1/19, I texted him to say I would not be coming in for training for the month of November and December and to remove me from AUTOPAY. I was billed through AUTOPAY on 11/1/19 for $445.00. Roy stated that his credit card company requires 30 day notice to suspend AUTOPAY, which is NOT indicated in the contract. Bottom line, DON'T DO AUTOPAY. I'm out the $445.00 for the month of November and $278.00 for the 5 unused days. I understand the no refund policy of the $278.00 for the unused sessions, but to keep the $445.00 for November, I feel, is wrong. I will never return to Fitness 4 You or recommend this facility to anyone else.

Anyway she had set me up to come back for a free class. The very next day I took a class with Coach Sarah. Oh boy was that class intense. I walked out there like WTH was that. Somehow I signed up with Makayla. Now I'm thinking Jatara why would you sign up you know you don't work out often. I went home and told me husband that I signed up for Orangetheory and he laughed. Six months later as I write this Review Orange Theory has truly changed my life. I love the fact the you can attend any Orangetheory in the world still brings music to my ears especially us Yelpers who are always traveling. I love the whole concept about splat points and staying in the Orange (hint that's why it's called Orange Theory) So basically you need to get 12 or more splat points by staying in the Orange zone, if you reached 12 or more points by the end of your 60 minute workout you will burn 20% of the calories you burn throughout the day. So that's Orangetheory in a nutshell. You are never in competition with anyone but yourself. At this particular location the staff and the coaches are awesome. I usually attend the 5:00 am class, the head Coach Melissa usually teaches that class or Danny. Melissa is awesome no matter where she is she can see what's going on and assist you if you are not doing it right which most of the time I'm not (that's why I'm there, much needed guidance). I know people complaint about the prices but I think it's worth every penny, you get the workout that you need and the attention of a coach to teach you how to do it correctly. Your basically paying for a personal training all in one. I love how this location is so personal it makes you feel like you are part of a family. I'm still quite and really don't speak much because I'm just not in a speaking mood at 5am. Well actually all the location make you feel like part of a family. I'm always at some other location, but this is my home gym and because of them I'm addicted to Orangetheory Fitness. At this location I took classes with Head Coach Melissa, Danny, Sarah and Emily. There are other location I have been to and I literally avoid going at certain times because of some coaches playlist yes playlist, you need good music to workout and these coaches here always have a good playlist, but for Stony Brook it doesn't matter who I sign up with or what time I go. I'm getting quality coaching from all and a great playlist. I like the fact that they keep is fun and challenging at the same time. They use IG that's Instagram ( which is new to me ) to keep us updated on all the events and other stuff happening for that month. They also have a app so you can book your classes in advance and see your progress as well. So bottom line, do I recommend OTF? Absolutely!!!!!!
