Jim (sorry, it may have been John, I was too upset to get his name right!) I got a flat tire on 90/94 close to Old Orchard in Skokie. I thought I got a quote of $95, per the gas station attendant and Craig's towing. I was very stressed out at the time so maybe I misheard. I was charged $395 to get my car towed 13 miles to the city. Triple check the price, I would of waited hours for triple AAA instead. Also- my insurance didn't cover any of the tow, which both the person who towed my car and the gas station attendant said I would probably get back. It's never a good day when you have to call a tow truck. But sometimes it's just unavoidable. On Sunday afternoon, my car decided it wouldn't start anymore. Multiple attempts at jumping the battery didn't help. By Sunday evening, we decided that we needed to have it towed to the shop so that they could take care of it first thing Monday morning. Also because it was partly on our lawn after we had rolled it down the driveway so that we could try to jump it and we really needed it to move. Without AAA or an open mechanics' shop to guide me, I went to the interwebs to look for recommendations on tow companies. Yelp led me to Craigs and I was not disappointed. My husband called around 8:15 and we were told that they would be there between 9:30 and 10. It was definitely close to (or maybe a little after) 10 when they arrived. The flashing lights caused a lot of excitement on our little street. Overall, they were fast and efficient at getting my car up on the truck and to the shop. My total cost was about $150. I appreciated their transparency in pricing - their website actually lists their prices (as of today, $75 for hook up, $75 for flat bed and some amount/mile). No other tow service was that open about it. So while I wasn't thrilled with the price, I do feel like it was reasonable, especially since I knew it ahead of time. I hope to not need towing services again anytime soon, but if I do, I would definitely call Craigs. read more

So, after I stupidly threw my bag with my key fob into the trunk and closed it, I knew I was in trouble! My husband told me multiple times to order a second key- but I had been so careful!! I went to the Drivers door it was locked - so was the passenger door. I got a roadside lock out service to open my car, but the Audi convertible sensed a breach and locked the entire car down, making it completely immobile. I called Craig's Towing directly, because my insurance company's connection was a 2 hour wait. Craig's was there on site in less than 30 min. John came with his beautiful flatbed tow truck. Tried as we may, we could not put the car in neutral, the emergency brake was even engaged in the car security. John went out of his way to obtain a wheel lift truck with dollies. Like the Repo man uses! He towed it to my dealer with care and the highest level of professionalism, sending me pics of the process along the way. I was in a desperate situation, which many could have taken advantage of by charging crazy, inflated prices. His price was fair and even reasonable for what he had to do! Such a great guy, I am incredibly impressed! I hope you don't have to get towed, because the loss of transportation is something you don't want. John is the epitome of a professional. Last week my car was unable to start. It had no power. I called John to have my car towed to a service station. When John got to my house he indicated he felt it was my battery. He opened a compartment in his tow truck which contained his tools. His tow truck was cleaner and more organized than my home. I thought $175 was pretty expensive - almost twice what i've paid from other companies. I asked for a price up front, but was told that they would let me know when they showed up. The best towing company I've ever used, hands down. I called them in the evening and explained that I was looking for a tow truck to come out so I could get my car to a shop before it closed and they were really helpful. The guy at dispatch quoted 30-45 minutes and they were at my place with the flatbed I had requested well within the estimated timeframe. But this wasn't any old flatbed, it featured a low bed and tilted at less steep of an angle compared to most tow trucks. My car is a little low to the ground, so this was perfect. John was the driver and he was nothing short of awesome; a careful and professional tow truck driver (unlike many others out there), a true blue gear head, and a really cool guy to talk to. He even went out of his way to explain the process and made sure my mufflers and bumper weren't scratched during loading and unloading. The car went up onto the bed perfectly and he secured everything in a professional manner. We went to the shop and he unloaded it in the same careful manner in which he had loaded it. Fast, efficient, safe, professional, and an all around good guy. When you see a few pics of exotic and collector cars using a service like this, you know that service is good.
