Craig is a good man, hard working. He saved us quite a bit of frustration on our move day. We had just arrived to Virginia and our friends and family list we had to help unload was dwindling. We solicited for unloading assistance around 24-36 hours from the time we needed. We were extremely skeptical that we would find anyone. Craig was able to assist with enough guys, they were extremely quick, they were respectful, wore shoe booties, and brought their own equipment. Cannot say enough about how these guys helped. Craig and his crew were great. We needed an emergency truck unload because another mover didn't finish the job. I had given up finding help (I called every mover in town) because it was the last Saturday of the month and the rental truck had to be returned by 11:45 am. He said "we got you!" It wasn't a big job, but they were on time and knocked it out in just under an hour. My boyfriend and I couldnt have physically done it (he reinjured some old issues and I'm recovering from multiple hospital visits due to lung issues. These guys saved us and we are forever grateful. He was hours late with no updates. We had to call him every hour to check in. By the third late hour he said he'd pulled over in another city because it was raining. Without telling us. We wasted a day. He then said "Oh we can move you tomorrow". We needed to move out today, as per our apartment contract terms. He was very flippant about it and didn't seem to care about getting the job done on time or at all. My mother was in tears by the end of the day. In the beginning there's a good level of professionalism that would make you be all for using their services. Where I got lost was when I got a call on moving day stating that I never paid my deposit. Well, I did and I was right. So you can imagine the anxiety from that. The pay structure is different than what I'm used to. There's no contract to lay out the details up front. It's just basically negotiating over the phone, in season or off season. I personally helped move a lot of my belongings to make the hourly process go by much faster for one bedroom/one living room. You would think it would take a couple of hours to move 10-15 min down the street, but was I sadly mistaken. It took 4 hours!!! 2 men/a truck/ 2 hours cost me over $700.00!! These guys were able to fit me in next day at a very reasonable price, especially when you figure that the alternative is having to give up some of my stuff and only take what I can. Summary: What should have been a two-hour pack out and three-hour move for a one bedroom apartment ended up taking 14 hours. I paid a total of $1524.40 for the privilege of being continually verbally disrespected and assaulted with the smell of marijuana, while my belongings were improperly packed. Below you will find a portion of the timeline of and the results of my experience with Craig's Moving Service. I hope you find it helpful in deciding whether you would like a similar experience. Due to Yelp's text limits, I have posted only a sample. Timeline: Friday; packing day: -9:34 AM: Mr. Craig arrives with one packer. He states that he must depart to provide transportation for the other packer. Despite the fact that the second packer is not there, he declared he has started the payment clock at 9:40 AM. I walk both Mr. Craig and the first packer through the items that should be packed for storage vs. packed to go to my new home. -10:15 AM: The sole packer states that he needs to get tools from his car. He leaves the apartment and does not return, ever. -10:54 AM: I call Mr. Craig to ascertain his whereabouts, as well as the whereabouts of the two packers for which I am paying. He states that he is "close." -11:05 AM: Mr. Craig arrives with a different packer. He states that he has to repack the boxes that were done by the first (now absent) packer, since he had not used any packing materials. He states that he will attempt to find a second packer, as the hourly rate I am paying is for two packers. I again walk Mr. Craig and the new packer through what items should go to storage and what items should go to my new home. -12:45 PM: Mr. Craig leaves, having contributed to packing as the second packer arrives. I begin to notice a distinct and undeniable smell of marijuana within my apartment. -1:55 PM: Mr. Craig returns to check on progress. He brings extra boxes. He is informed that tape and shrink wrap are running low. He leaves to retrieve this equipment, saying he will be "back soon". -3:00 PM: Packers are forced to stop work due to lack of tape and shrink wrap, as they communicate the situation to me. -3:24 pm to 3:38 PM: I call Mr. Craig three times, attempting to reach him to discuss the status of the job. He does not pick up. I leave a message telling him that due to lack of supplies and inability to reach him, I am dismissing the packers. I dismiss the packers, as they are not able to work due to lack of supplies. They request that I provide them a ride home. I decline. -3:42 PM: Mr. Craig arrives, having not called or returned my message. He had not listened to my messages, and is therefore unaware that the packers departed due to not having supplies for the better part of that last hour. He leaves. -4:05 PM: Mr. Craig returns with one of the two packers. The marijuana smell returns with them. He expresses significant frustration that his movers were permitted to leave. His tone is so rude and condescending that my partner asks him to stop speaking to me or leave. He has brought some supplies, which are not sufficient to complete the packing process. -5:20 PM: Mr. Craig and his one packer assess that they have made sufficient progress, despite the fact that two rooms remain completely unpacked. He agrees to an arrival time of between 9 and 10 AM the following morning. I am pleased that my apartment no longer smells like marijuana. Saturday; moving day: -10:15 AM: Mr. Craig and two movers arrive, having provided no advance notice of lateness. Mr. Craig asks what items remain to be packed. I list those items. He takes a disrespectful tone with me, similar to the day before, causing my partner to remind him that if he does not stop disrespecting me, he will be asked to leave. He leaves, again being sure to confirm a payment start time of 10:15 AM. -11:37 AM: I call Mr. Craig to inform him, at his team's request, that they are again out of packing supplies. He expresses understanding and states that he will be returning soon with the needed supplies (tape, shrink wrap, packing blankets/pads for storage). -12:27 PM: I call Mr. Craig again, at the request of his team. His team lead informs him that they have been idle for approximately 30 minutes and that they will not be able to continue work without the needed supplies. -~4:30 PM: The move to the storage unit is completed. Sunday; day after the move: I unpack the boxes that were marked to go to my new home. Not only do I have numerous (3 full boxes) items that were mislabeled and supposed to be packed for storage now to deal with, I do not have numerous items that were specifically laid out to be packed for my new home. Multiple delicate items are broken due to a complete lack of packing materials (paper, cushions) within the boxes. read more

Overall a good experience. They moved me out of my old place and into my new one within 4 hours and that was with a set of stairs & some rain. Set up our move on December 27th. Move date was Jan 28th with an arrival window between 9-11. Paid a 50%deposit with a 12.25 processing fee. a week before the move I contacted him because the weather was really bad and I wanted to know his weather policy. He was rude in his responses and asked if I had Proof of my deposit. when I sent a screenshot of his receipt he said "well then you know what you owe. See you on move day" day before move I texted see you tomorrow which he ignored. Day of at 8am he called and said he was in Florida and his associate would move me. At 11 I get a call from another moving company the he was just called and told that I needed to be moved but was only given my name and number. He could not move me that day. Texted Craig back saying how disappointed I was and that I wanted a refund. He had a lot of excuses but said I would have one in 7-10 business days. On the 9th business day I texted for an update because my bank couldn't see one initiated yet. He said I was not being patient and to just dispute it with my bank he was done arguing with me and HUNG UP. 16 business days later STILL NO REFUND! We are a single income military family. My husband is TDY for training and I had to do this move by myself. Neighbors had to help because of Craig's lack of planning and honesty. He has our hard earned money that he promised to refund but never did! He didn't show up But kept out money and has the audacity to get nasty with me and yell at me because I am bothering him with my regular for refund updates! read more

DO NOT HIRE THIS COMPANY!! I have been waiting almost a month to see if I would calm down and just let it go, but I'm still fuming about this experience. I purposely wanted to support a small business during COVID times. Unfortunately, this company was not worthy of my business! I can understand that mistakes happen, but I have never experienced a company owner that brushed all the mistakes under the rug like it was no big deal and then acted like he "saved the day" when he finally came to fix it. THE OWNER TOOK NO OWNERSHIP OF HIS ACTIONS! Recap of our experience (make sure you read #4): 1. They were 2 hours late getting to the house and the only contact with them was us calling the owners and asking about where they were. 2. I paid for 4 guys to move us and only 3 showed up. (Supposedly the 4th got there early and left which the owner said he was disappointed about. No apology and I still paid for 4 guys. NO REFUND. When I brought it up, he said that it was no big deal since they got everything moved.) 3. They showed up in a rented Penske truck. We had rented a small U-Haul to supplement and get some of the boxes loaded into it so they could use the Penske for the big furniture. My fiancé had to stay after the movers left for the new house to load the boxes into the U-Haul since we only had 3 men and not 4 and it didn't get done - something the owner didn't quite comprehend. 4. NO DRIVERS LICENSE. We live in a gated community that scans the drivers license of visitors. No one in the moving truck had a valid drivers license. They had to sit at a local gas station for 2 hours while the owner finally drove out to drive the truck through. THEY WERE DRIVING MY PERSONAL BELONINGS AROUND ILLEGALLY. I have no idea how they rented the Penske truck without a drivers license. THE OWNER ACTED LIKE IT WAS NO BIG DEAL AND THAT HE SAVED THE DAY BY DRIVING OUT TO DRIVE THE TRUCK THROUGH THE GATE. **He then told me he would not charge me for the 2 hours the movers had to wait to get through the gate. WHAT??? I couldn't believe those words came from his mouth. (BTW... if they would have been pulled over by the police, my belongings would have been impounded!!) I saw some poor reviews on this site, but I usually write some off because there is always someone you can't make happy. I CAN CONFIDENTLY SAY THAT THE OWNER DOESN'T CARE ABOUT YOU AND IF ANYTHING DOES GO WRONG HE WILL TAKE NO RESPONSIBILTY. The guys actually doing the moving were nice, but the owner acts like I should respect him for showing up and doing the job I paid him for. Also - don't sign his paperwork until you fully read it. I was so tired from the long day and crappy experience that I wanted them to leave. He pushed a paper in front of me and said this shows I paid for the predetermined hours and they completed it. He didn't tell me all the other verbiage I supposedly signed for. We found damage on expensive furniture and a BIG scratch on a wood floor. He basically told us "too bad" because I signed the paperwork. (and hung up the phone on us) I hope this review saves someone in future from a bad experience. I called several moving companies to move a piano from a room, up seven steps to another room and they all wanted $300 plus. Then I called Craigs Moving Services, was given a quote of $175 after sending pix, and they were here in less than two hours. Found myself in a pinch, had a family member that had to move in less than 24 hours.( by midnight and it was 2:30pm) Googled moving companies and proceeded down the list. As it were everybody wanted to schedule me for the next day. I dialed Craig's Moving Service and spoke with Mr. Craig. I explained my situation. He said he had a truck that was just finishing up a job and he would be able to rescue me within the hour. Not only did the truck show up within the hour but Mr. Craig showed up shortly as well and gave a helping hand. Paid for 4 hours, 2 guys, and a 26 ft truck and they arrived 4 hours late with a 18 ft truck then said I had to pay the extra fees for a second trip because they couldn't fit it all in one. RIP OFF! NO COMMUNICATION. What a nightmare. Expect to pay at least double what was quoted. Once they actually showed up, there were additional upcharges from the original quote. Two MOVERS and a truck was supposed to show up for two hours. I got a part time mover and owner supervisor and a new mover who was supervised because he was new. Mr. Craig said it would not take the two hours. Maybe if we didn't have to do all the paperwork and both had actually worked instead of being on the phone, one working while the other supervised, etc. Plus there was the joy riding on the way to the storage unit. They didn't make it thru the third stop light and somehow it took them 12 extra minutes from when I arrived at the storage unit to show up. And they came from the opposite direction. So guess what, it took an additional five minutes and he hit me for another $135 for going over the two hours. What a rip off. Nothing in writing and no receipts and he wanted it all in cash. Now let's talk about the scheduling and the courtesy of phone calls when they are going to be late. Ha Ha. I tried calling but kept getting switched to a full voice mail box. I emailed & got a response the next day. I gave him a week long availability and he emailed back the 29th with no time. I emailed twice to find out a time for the 29th with no response. Then he called and left a message saying he was coming on the 28th & why was I switching the date. I have the email stating the 29th. I called him on the morning of the 26th and he said that he had availability that afternoon after he moved a hot tub and that he would be there at 3 p.m. I called after 4 and he said he had been delayed but was still coming. At 6 pm I called him and told him the storage units locked up for the day at 7:30 p.m. so it was not use coming now. He said he wouldn't have been able to make it anyhow but on the 27th he only had one move and would come when it was done. I called on the 27th when he hadn't showed up by 4. He said he wouldn't be able to come but never called to inform me. Said he would be between 9 & 11 the next day. It rained in the morning but stopped at 9. At 11:30 I called to see if he was still coming. He said he was but that it had rained and why did I have an attitude. He sent me a text at 11:40 to say he was on the way. Showed up at 12:50 with just one mover not 2. He said he would have to work since the other guy had church. Well if he would have actually worked all the time, I would not have had to pay extra. Can't believe he actually had the nerve to ask to pay extra. He should have had to pay me for all my time he wasted by not showing up and not calling to say he was not coming or would be late, etc. NO COMMUNICATIONS SKILLS!!! HAS NO PROBLEM RIPPING PEOPLE OFF. Coordinating pick up between Mr. Craig and the original owners could not have been easier. The day of pick up and transport was seamless. If I could give less than a zero I would! This experience hands down has been the absolute worst that I have EVER dealt with from a so called business!! To start I got this number from a location that my aunt purchased a bed from. They were the 3rd party delivery service. I called and initially Craig was nice and efficient as he offered to do the delivery and bed assembly the next day advising that he would pick the item up from the store the next day and deliver to my aunt, who is elderly, by noon. The next day by 4 pm when we had not heard anything, I gave him the benefit of doubt and assumed he had gotten busy so I texted him to inquire and 45 minutes later he responded that he was on his way to her. He got to her at 7pm only to deliver the bed as he claimed to have left his tools in another truck (in reading the other horrible reviews, he appears to use that excuse often)! Now he knew he was doing an assembly, but didn't bring tools! Red flag! When my aunt called me at 8:20pm to say he never came back and that he had required that she pay him for the full service at the time that he delivered the bed...and she gave him a $20 tip, I felt that he had taken advantage of her!! I called him and immediately he advised that he was on his way back to her. I called my aunt back an hour later and she stated that he had not come or called! The next morning I called him and before I could ask what happened he SCREAMED at me that he was not going to disrespect the elderly by going to someone's house that late, now this is after HE said he was "on his way" back to my aunts at 8:30pm. So I said I'm only going off of what you communicated to me, he then commenced to tell me how he "bust his ass" trying to "handle his business" and that I was calling him "early in the morning" when it was 9am! I said Craig, I don't know your business, we secured you for a service, a service that you have been paid for that is incomplete all we want to know is when will you complete it because at this point you have not held true to any of the appointments that you've made. He screamed "well I can refund your money because "it's not about the money at this point." I have no idea where the hostility and disrespectful tone came from when he as a business owner was in the wrong and instead of offering an apology for his bad service and unprofessionalism he chose to argue his bad business! I said Craig my aunt still needs the assembly that she paid for, he frustratedly yelled well tell her I'll be there at noon. Can you guess by 4pm, NOTHING! I texted him to no response so I asked my brother to call since I had meetings. My brother said that Craig's greeting was "oh now the man is calling!" Hostile and argumentative! My brother told him to refund the money which Craig condescendingly offered to do. I texted him inquiring how and when he would be refunding since my aunt had paid via cash and I advised him that I was going to file a BBB complaint as this service was horrible. This man called my phone and as soon as I answered he asked me "what's all the crap I'm texting" I hung up and he commencing to sending me argumentative text messages! I have the evidence!! I advised him that we have NO reason to communicate further and to refund my aunt as he stated. He went to my aunts house dropped off the refund but kept the tip that she had given him that he 100% did NOT deserve, didn't say a word and walked off. I wished I had read the review prior to calling this, I can't even refer to this as a business, I'll just say this man!! So I had ordered a groupon for movers. I used him to junk my sofa couch which he did last minute. I was super grateful and tipped according. I wanted him to move me from my apartment to my new home. I understand, that it can be hectic on the weekend but all I wanted was basic communication and some updates. I spent most of the day calling in and trying to get updates. He even made a comment about how he was upset w sofa bed. I understand it wasn't easy to move but I also thanked and tipped him for. Felt that comment was unnecessary. I work, I'm on a schedule to move. He made some suggestions considering I work nights at a hospital so I can't stay up too long. Craig said I should sleep. When I stated that my mattress and bed was in my old place he said I should get an air mattress and sleep. I eventually cancelled because that left a real bad taste, Craig the owner was very unprofessional. He made some disparaging comments about difficulty moving me before and me getting another groupon rinkadink movers. I needed to move today, it was scheduled between 9a-11a. I contacted him around 2p and was told that there 75% of the way finished w the first move. Don't get me wrong he did offer to move me even after hours but I had to work. I know it's a small company but keeping a line of communication is important esp. when someone is moving on a deadline. I rather he called to discuss options such as rescheduling or cancelling rather than me reaching out to the point of annoyance on both ends. I am interested in a full refund which he initially promised via Cashapp/Venmo but now he is choosing to wait on groupon which is a great delay. DO NOT USE CRAIG'S MOVING SERVICES! Bad customer service and unprofessionalism from start to finish! Admittedly, I was somewhat skeptical during our initial conversation based on the way he called me "sweetheart". I thought it was unprofessional but decided to go ahead with the service to support a local small business. This proved to be a horrible decision. "Mr. Craig" assured us he would arrive between 9 and 11am and needless to say he never showed up. Understanding things happen, we waited and called him at 12pm for an ETA but he didn't answer. After multiple calls with no answer, we called from a different number and still no answer BUT he called the different number back. We explained we'd been waiting for him and he gave some story about having phone issues. After half a day was wasted and we'd already paid a $275.00 deposit, we told Mr. Craig we wanted our money back and no longer wanted his service. He told us we'd have it in hours but this didn't happen either. For the next few days we had ongoing exchanges regarding the refund (which took weeks to get) and "Mr. Craig" even went so far as to pretend to be his own secretary! Typos and terrible spelling errors like "parshal" (meant to be partial) were obvious clues that we were talking to the same person via text. This company is extremely unprofessional and customer service should be nowhere in his company profile! FYI... USE PAYPAL; you'll more than likely need to make a claim to get your refund. read more

DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY!! I hired them for a move on August 9th 2018. They were supposed to arrive at 9am, needless-to-say he was 3hrs. LATE The owner didn't have the decency to call and advise he was going to be late. I had to initiate the call. During the move we had items broken, furniture scratched and stuffed. This would not have happened if they shrink wrapped; but they DON'T. My chested dresser was dropped off the truck, scuffed and scratched leather furniture, and broke bookcase. In my new construction home walls were damage and HANDPRINTS (NOT FINGERPRINTS) are all over my wall. BUT that is not the good part. I discovered days late that expensive jewelry (diamond necklace and bracelet) was STOLEN. These items were in my dresser drawers; however if the dresser was shrink wrap as displayed in picture it would not have been accessible. I called the owner to discuss the matter and he denied claiming he never let the guys alone; however he is hands on so he needed to leave them. Because he was 3hrs late - this made his late for his next job rushing and accident occurred during unloading. I asked for insurance information; he said he would call back. I text him late that night and he has failed to response. He claims he has a crew that works for him; however speaking to the workers two gentleman stated they have never met til this day.
