I had the privilege of taking a class here that reminded me of our basic tools to make an improvised scene occur. It is taught in a true 'drill' like fashion. Getting 'the reps' in feels good as it takes the pressure off the end result. I had the pleasure of having the fantastic teacher Echo Cullem. He teaches from the heart, knows the rhythm of a scene and how things should feel. He is a person we could trust as a group collective and one that made me feel open and able to adjust and learn. Eco reminds us that 'The most important person in a scene is your scene partner.' Our class was lucky to be given this amazing experience and I will miss each and every one of my talented classmates. Training at The Groundling is an honor for any funny or talented person who might be blocked or need to hit reset and you owe it to your talent and your Los Angeles story to train here.

I've had many classes where I got a bad vibe or I felt like the teacher was getting off with their power. Joe is the complete opposite of this. Thank you Joe for helping me grow as an actor and a person!

I've been studying with Don Bloomfield for the past 3+ years and for very good reason. The man is…read morean incredible teacher. Before moving to LA, I studied acting at a conservatory in college where I got my BA in theatre arts, yet in the very first year of studying with Don I truly believe I learned more with him and grew far more as an actor than I did during my years at theatre school. The Meisner technique is gold - and so is Don. If you're looking for a teacher to blow smoke up your ass and tell you what a great job you've done when the credit isn't due, he isn't the guy for you. But if you're looking for a teacher who will push you to do your absolute best with completly honest feedback and a passion for you to become the best actor you can possibly be, then he is your guy. A few fun facts: - Don studied directly under Sanford Meisner. - I've watched actors in my class grow immensely. From day one thinking "Acting isn't really their thing" to now watching their work and thinking "Holy shit. They're going to win an award one day" It's pretty incredible to think where we started and where we are now. -His classes are some of the most affordable in town. -I've also taken many other classes in LA and Hollywood, and nothing ever compares.

As an actor, I've taken many classes in and around LA and Hollywood and nothing (not even some of the big names) compare to Don's personal and vulnerable classes. In 2 years I have learned more about myself and my craft than I did after 5+ years of performing arts classes. Our class is not just a class; it's a family. Don is not only incredibly insightful on each and every actor's personalities and blocks, but has the talent to push students towards their best selves. Having studied under Sanford Meisner himself, he really knows the craft inside and out. Unlike most Meisner classes, he also shows you how to apply the teachings to important aspects like cold-readings, auditioning, and TV scripts. In today's industry, that is extraordinarily important. You can tell from day 1 that Don Bloomfield is extraordinarily passionate about what he does, and cares for each and every student in profound ways. He will go above and beyond to make sure you keep improving. He will NEVER give up on you. At the end of the day, this man is inspiring. He is a gifted teacher. After my 2 year program, I joined the masterclass... I can't wait to thank Don Bloomfield when I accept my Oscar one day ;)

Both experiences were incredibly valuable, not only for my work as an artist but also for my everyday life. John shares a wealth of knowledge, insight, and guidance with his students. His passion for teaching and the creative process is evident, and everyone who works with him leaves inspired with new tools, fresh perspectives, and an expanded imagination. Through the Archetypes Workshop, I gained a deeper understanding of character development and became more aware of my own dominant archetype, as well as areas I'd like to continue exploring. In the Directors Workshop, I learned about the actor-director relationship and how to communicate more effectively and collaboratively. John creates a safe, welcoming environment while also encouraging students to dig deeper and take creative risks. He tailors his approach to each individual's strengths and areas for growth.
