I'm not an artist, but the instructor made drawing so easy that anyone can do it. I came across this place on my most recent visit to Disneyland/California Adventure over Thanksgiving break. Since the lines for all the rides were horrendous, my boyfriend and I tried some new things in the parks that were not rides. The Animation Academy was the highlight of the trip. There are "shows" every half hour where you sit inside a mini lecture hall and learn to draw Disney characters. There is a Disney animator who walks you through each step so that you come out with a picture that actually looks pretty good! Things move pretty fast so make sure you keep up with the animator and pay attention. Things can go from simple circles to eyelashes really quickly so here are a few things to keep in mind so that you don't seem so flustered during your first visit to the Academy. 1. Get there at least 10 minutes early so that you are guaranteed a seat. People start to line up. 2. When you choose your row, move down all the way to the end of the row and don't leave spaces between you and the next party. They don't have cooties. But most of all, don't be annoying and stop in the middle so that people have to climb over you. You can see everything from the right or left sides, trust me. 3. Follow along with the animator and don't freak if you make a mistake. Erasers are not allowed. If you come to the Animation Academy and follow along, you will honestly surprise yourself with what you can create! We went three times and drew Tigger, Mickey, and Dale. You can ask the guy at the front to see which characters are coming up so that you can plan your visits around their lesson plans! It is basically a free drawing lesson that can be just as fun for adults as it is for the kids. Actually maybe even more fun for adults.

I loved the materials they used, the creativity they both employed and encouraged, and the patience they exhibited with the kids. Class sizes are small, the room is intimate but spacious, and instruction is personalized and very, very good. She consistently came home with beautiful artwork and learned about and applied new techniques with each class, including a lovely "under the sea" watercolor using salt to create bubbles. She created easy to follow steps for us to understand difficult cast, face or figure drawings and paintings. She gives amazing anatomy lectures and demos on understading bones and muscles and drawing them. The price is a bit higher compared to some nearby places I found online, but it's absolutely worth every cent if you want the best quality product and experience. This was my first time rug tufting, and I can confidently say you're in great hands. Eryn and Jordan made everything easy to follow, and rug tufting itself is very forgiving, you can make mistakes and still end up with something awesome. We came on Valentine's Day for a date night experience, and it was such a great time. They provided drinks and food (not sure if that's always included or just a special occasion), but either way, the food was amazing, especially the lasagna made by Eryn's husband. Seriously, bomb. For our project, we chose to make a rug of our dog, which is considered a pretty challenging design. Even so, they guided us through every step, and it never felt overwhelming. The final result turned out great and didn't feel overly difficult despite the complexity. The experience is about 3 hours total, but they were kind enough to let us stay an extra 30-40 minutes so we could really perfect our rug. We'll be receiving the finished rug in a few weeks once they complete the final touches, and I honestly can't wait to see the final product. Huge thanks to Eryn and Jordan for making our Valentine's date night such a success. Parking: There's a nearby lot for around $10, but I parked on the surrounding residential streets for free.
