He came out right away and after receiving several quotes from other vendors we had Mr. Hernanez (with his great price) fit us into his schedule to complete the work quickly. Mr. Hernanez brought new life by repairing, restoring, and refinishing the well worn floors in our 1930's house. He did so for the price he quoted. The attention to detail was so impressive. Craftsmen Floor Co. did an outstanding job with replacing all the hardwood floors in our 1919 Craftsman Bungalow. Daniel and his team (Hilario and Salvador) were hardworking, meticulous and very respectful of our home. They masked off all the doors and built-ins to keep the dust to a minimum and tidied up every evening which was very important to us since we continued to occupy the house throughout the project. They were also very flexible with breaking the project into two phases to minimize the disruption to us. Daniel and team offered excellent suggestions to ensure that the new walnut feature strip in the entry, living and dining rooms and the borders throughout were authentic to the period of our home. They also provided beautiful and inconspicuous transitions from the hardwood flooring into the tiled kitchen and bathrooms. They even repaired some termite damage they discovered in the old subfloor and fixed the hallway door trim that was installed incorrectly back when my house was built over 100 years ago. Craftsmen Floor Co. did an amazing job refinishing our tired, scratched, water-damaged, and stained hardwood floors. The floors, which had been so ugly the previous house owners had hidden them under carpet, look almost brand new now. Co-owner Hilario Hernandez was great to work with--friendly, polite, on time, and a great communicator. He was also super accommodating: when informed that our baseboards might not arrive on time, he said he could work with that and return another time to install them, even though that would have disrupted his schedule on other jobs. He a squeezed our job in at short notice (a day after I confirmed we had accepted his work proposal) and completed work on our two rooms in record 1.5 days. Craftsmen Floors were recommended to us by EcoHome in Berkeley to install bamboo and Sono ceramic flooring. He sealed and evened out our slab foundation, and installed floors in much of our house. I'm usually skeptical of contractors referred by retailers (having been burned before) - but I felt like I could trust EcoHome. I'm so glad I took the recommendation. They did an excellent job installing new cork flooring in our kitchen and dining room. Their estimate was totally reasonable (came in much lower than another company) - and their work was impeccable. Daniel (I believe he's the owner) was helpful and professional. Hilario (who did the estimate and most of the actual work) was friendly and precise. The floors look awesome - great attention to detail. And, they get the award for leaving our house every bit as clean as when they showed up. That's unfortunately a rare tendency among contractors. Craftsmen floor recently installed CoreTech flooring from EcoHome Improvement in our downstairs. We are THRILLED with the results and could not have been happier with the service they provided. We had just finished an earthquake retrofit and remodel of our downstairs, and pulled out the old asbestos tile to reveal cracked, un-level concrete subfloor. We were weeks away from having our second baby and presented with the challenge of finding a flooring solution that was beautiful, affordable, and non-toxic for our kids--all before the newborn arrived. Several contractors had already quoted us huge prices just to level the floors, which they said would be required before we even purchased and installed any hard flooring material. We were about to give up and install carpeting, even though we really didn't want to, as we were running on limited funds after remodeling most of the downstairs. The guys at Craftsmen Floor Company installed a bamboo floor over the old 1980s tile in my kitchen and refinished my ailing splinter-y redwood deck. They were referred to us through Green Fusion in San Anselmo which is no longer in business. They were in and out while we were on vacation, and left everything cleaner than it was when they arrived-- no sawdust or anything, which is great for those of us who have asthma. My worries about gaps in the flooring and non-matching replacement baseboard turned out to be totally unfounded, and four years later the flooring still looks great. Overall, it was a quick and painless experience, and I'd highly recommend Hilario, Daniel, and the rest of the crew at Craftsmen Floors. They're great! read more

We were referred to Daniel by our designer when we decided to remove all the carpets and have uniform hardwood floors throughout our large flat in San Francisco. We also wanted to replace the floor coverings in our lower level and due to a few water issues over the years, we decided to install Coretec downstairs. Daniel was able to do both projects, and Hilario and Salvatore did the day to day work. Our project revealed some surprises underneath the carpet and we were shocked by some of the them, but Daniel and Hilario assured us they'd seen and repaired worse. After 3+ weeks, we had gorgeous wood floors upstairs and a fabulous Coretec floor in our lower level. Work was done in a manner that permitted us to remain onsite. We are thrilled with the final product, the cost was very reasonable for all the work and the timeline was achieved. I used Craftsmen Floor Company to install our hardwood floors and repair some existing original 1950s hardwood flooring. Their estimate was higher than some but they know their stuff. Two things I didn't like: 1. They did not want to sign a contract for the job. A red flag in my book. 2. For the repairs, they wanted to charge more than the original estimate. Both situations turned out to be workable but made me nervous. In the end, I'm happy with the results. read more

He was very sensitive to my environmental concerns, finding a good alternative to epoxy for dealing with moisture issues in the slab beneath. Three or four years ago, we had Daniel and crew refinish our kitchen oak floors, and couldn't have been happier with the results. I am very particular, and our kitchen was a difficult job, with an island and built-in desk that made for convoluted, cramped spaces. I was nervous about scratches on my cabinets (only takes one slip of the sander), but their work was perfect. They even repaired some lame work by the original installer for no extra cost. So, now we just had them install 3/4" T&G oak in two bedrooms and closets. Again, they really did an outstanding job. I should also say that the finish products they use are really durable. Our kitchen shows little wear despite heavy use. They did two coats of oil base and two coats of water base on top to match the warmer oil-based finish of our older floors, and it really looks great. We were dreading having dust infiltrate the whole house, but they made very little and kept the worksite spotless. I am leery of contractors, but these guys are very trustworthy and I give them my highest reccomendation. They are not the cheapest, but after seeing what the low bidder did to my mother's floors, A little more was well worth it. read more

Daniel & Hilario & crew did a fantastic job installing CoreTec flooring for our kitchen and laundry room/pantry (all told about 275 sq ft), and milling and installing custom baseboards.
