Great selection of beers. Quite enjoyed my visits of late. My favourite is still to sit at the bar where the cute bartenders can make recommendations per my mood of the day. The nachos looked promising but turned out to be just OK; it lacked cheese which, let's face it, makes the nachos. It could definitely benefit from some layering of toppings throughout the stack. That was my nachos review. Bye. Breakfast/brunch food wasn't bad. Very standard good food. It's just fine for dining any time. It's really a very apt watering hole. My favourite thing to do here is still sitting at the bar for a few beers! read more

I went to Craft Beer Market last night with a group of friends for a bite to eat. Unfortunately a number of us came down with food poisoning after eating our meals there. I now know several people who have had food poisoning after eating here. It's unfortunate as it is a very cool spot and has a lot of potential. However, I won't be returning. read more

Location was very nice and quite large. We sat on the patio because the inside was booked for an event. We could watch a small quad area by the water that had some live music going on. It was a great place to hang out. Our server came to check on us regularly and had excellent suggestions for drinks and food. We tried all of the mules and love them all. My favorite was the pineapple. I enjoyed the sliders as well. read more

Was craving nachos so ordered delivery. Now, I can understand that nachos might not travel well, but this at-home "Nacho Barrel" kit for $25 (that's TWENTY-FIVE DOLLARS) was a bag of chips and a small container of shredded cheese that I had to put in the oven myself. The condiments in the equally small containers don't count. This was some kind of punk, right? Maybe I'd understand if it was, let's say, um, $10 (TEN DOLLARS), but did I mention that it was $25? "Shame on you! Go to the market and get your own nacho-making stuff," you say? Next time, for sure. I did order some other dishes. All almost as disappointing. #fail read more

This is a fun place to stop at when in Vancouver. There's an endless selection of beer, the staff is super friendly and helpful. I had been there several times and it was a nice place to eat and drink. However the night I spent with friends a few days ago was seriously bothered by the extremely loud background music. Our voices could not be heard even though we spoke very loudly. We asked the restaurant to lower the music volume twice so we could chat and eat but it remained the same. The noise from my sense could be up to 90 to 100 dB no kidding. I have no offence to background music and it is good for customers at a certain sound level. I heard that loud noise can help to make restaurant turnover faster because the customer would tend to eat faster and drink more. I hope it would not be the strategy of Craft Beer Market. Pretty disappointing that night and lost the appetite to eat. read more

For now granting this new establishment 3 star. Kinks still being worked out after a week in business. It took about 10 minutes before I had a beer in my hands - sitting at the bar. But the wings came quickly - a huge portion of beer salt and pepper wings for just $8 (normally about $11). They'll need to install seats or benches at the front as waits can be long. Cheapest beers are $6.25 (plus tax) and I enjoyed the Salt Co. Lager and Sapporo. Curious to try the wines on tap for next visit. Total damage: 1 wings, 2 beers w tax = $22.80. read more

Beer on beer on beer. That is what you come to Craft for. I can only vouch for their drink selection because I've never gotten food here. But from what I've seen on my friend's plates and at other tables, the food looks tasty. They have a very extensive beer list. Like I'm talking over 50 beer selections. I honestly didn't know what to get, so I just asked our server to get me something light. She brought me a pale lager - it was light, refreshing, and exactly what I was feeling. During happy hour (Mon-Fri, 3-6PM) they have $5 beer, $5 wine and $5 high-balls, so it makes for a good after work hangout spot. They also have a large patio which is ideal in the summer, that overlooks False Creek/Olympic Village. It's definitely a good spot to post up and people-watch. The place is huuuuuge, so I've never had trouble getting a table here. I've always received really great service. There is a lot of beer knowledge they have to know, and the servers I've had all knew what they were talking about and made great recommendations. This is definitely one of my favourite spots to bring people from out of town just because of their wide drink selection and prime location. read more

I have stopped in here quite a few times, but this is the first time I am going to write about this place. I love the decor here. From the Beer stacks and the wood floors to the piles under the building that face the washrooms, I think this is a great repurposed building. Here are some facts about this place. 1) I have always gotten good service here. From their soft launch where I saw the staff kick out an unruly guest, to seating me and paying attention to me, this place is great. 2) The food was surprisingly good! I thought that the food would just be soso, but it's not that bad. The kitchen has never messed up my order, and from the salads to the nachos to the weird little sushi things that are mini bacon burgers, the food is decent! (I should mention that their fish tacos are pretty good too!) 3) I hate craft beer. I find it hoppy and bitter. I am a sucker for kokanee, heineken and rickard's red. When I came here, I thought I was dead meat as the craft beer craze has hit vancouver. The good news is that I discovered Trappist beer here. They introduced it to me, and I love it, albeit hefty at almost $10 per glass. I will be back here and I will be back often. It is fun. The only disappointing thing that this place has going for it is that the angles of the TV's and the size of the screens are odd and small. They also don't play the sound on during hockey games. I have already switched places to watch the games because I like to hear the action, not just see the screen and cheer when I think something is happening. Oh Point 4. A server spilled beer all over myself and my friend and a manager came out to talk to us right away. Life happens!! At least they didn't deny that the beer was on my jacket and in my pocket. No comp, but drycleaning was offered. read more

Sometimes it's not that the service has to be perfect, but how a restaurant handles imperfect service. The restaurant made an error when we were there and forgot to assign a server to our table, resulting in a super long wait before we could get service. The manager apologized sincerely, comped our first round and even followed up by checking on us a few more times while we were there. The food was awesome and they have a huge beer selection, something for everyone. Would definitely go back! read more

Huge place in terms of size. Very rustic, hipster decor and overall it has an enjoyable atmosphere. I'm going to leave this review short: CHICKEN AND WAFFLES. Enough said. Holy - that chicken was unexpectedly juicy, fried just right and had ah-mazing flavour. I say it rivals and even beats Jam Cafe.... (juicier). I don't drink beer but my boyfriend had a gigantic list of beer, cider etc. to choose from. They break it down by type IPA, lagers, pale ales etc. so have fun! They also have beer flights if you can't decide. read more

I had wondered about this place for awhile but didn't think it served food. I was disappointed that there is no outdoor seating to enjoy on one of our sunny days, but apparently they are working on it. I was told that it was meant to be open by now. With Tap and Barrel just around the corner, they need to step their game up a bit here. The "you can sit at the bar but not move to a table" was annoying. I had never heard of this before. Why do all of these Albertan originated places have such bizarre seating policies that are quite the turn off? (Can we say Famoso pizza?) Nonetheless, the open space was great and it was absolutely packed on a Monday (long weekend) eve with a 20 minute wait for two people. The beer selection was wonderful of course, and surprisingly, so was the wine. In spite of the fact that it was so busy, the bartenders gave decent service and were both patient and kind. The beer flights (6 for $8 special) were a popular Monday night choice. They offer specials daily, in fact, so check the website for that. We shared the arugula prosciutto flatbread pizza ($11.99 special; regularly $15.) which was pretty average but not terrible. Also tried the hearty kale salad which was so dense and more than enough for two people, but it was also on the pricer side at $17. I even had some salad leftover that held up great for the next day. (I guess this is a benefit of kale?) I made the mistake of using the "unisex one person bathroom" instead of the designated ones since it was the closest. The other ones were a trek across the restaurant and down the stairs, but they definitely would have been worth it. I'm not sure which sex to blame here, but it was worse than any bathroom that I'd seen in a NY dive bar. It was so bad that I was worried that I'd catch a disease in there and I didn't touch a thing. This really turned me off my entire experience. While the atmosphere, wine and beer was certainly more interesting than our famous chains, the food and service did not quite stack up. You could definitely tell that they just don't follow the same "CS handbook" which made them lose a star. read more

Went to Craft Beer for the first time last weekend with a group of friends. We were there to celebrate a birthday. Thought the atmosphere was alright. Service could have been better but the lack of attention was expected as we had a very large group. Ended up getting very sick the following day. I thought I was coming down with the flu. It wasn't until I heard on the news that there was a norovirus outbreak at that establishment! I didn't know who I should be reporting my symptoms to so I sent a friendly email to the owner/general manager of the establishment to figure out what's going on. I didn't get a response back despite follow ups. I know there's nothing the establishment can do to change the past; but a simple apology would've been nice. *UPDATE* I was contacted by a representative of the establishment shortly after I posted this review. They were deeply apologetic and advised that they tried to get in contact with me shortly after my above noted email to the owner/general manager but their email didn't get through as things were fairly chaotic at that time. Understandable. They advised that they had very little control over what happened but has taken steps to prevent this from reoccurring. Not sure if I'll have the courage to go back there but at least they made an effort to make things right. read more

Some really bad food at this place. I don't if it's just over processed or what but I can't eat anything there now without feeling awful all day. I ordered the grilled chicken sandwich and the "avocado" was just guacamole on top. Why even list avocado on the sandwich if it's not there? To top it off they don't pour proper pints and overcharge for the beers. If you want decent craft beer go up the road to the actual breweries or check out Alibi Room where the food is much better. read more

I can't believe the number of very good reviews on this place. I felt I had to give a review of this place. I went here with a friend on a Saturday night and it was pretty busy. The gal at they front desk told us about 20 mins and handed us a pager. After about 30 mins, I went back to check, a different gal checks on the computer and says 25-40 mins, WTF? Now it's 9:30pm, bad timing, if they told us 45 mins, we probably would have left. We decided to stay and wait. We check again 15 mins later and still no table but there is room at the bar. We decided to take and they take us to the very end of the bar at the far end of the building. Great, there are TV monitors everywhere but at the end of the bar you don't have view of the monitor. The hostess gave us a card for a free appetizer for waiting so long. That was nice. We decided to order the nachos, but the card doesn't' cover nachos or the appetizer platter both of which is on the appetizer menu. WTF? Now this place has a huge selection of beers on tap. If the other reviewers are reviewing just based on the beer selection, they get 5 stars. But they don't make the beer do they? We order a couple of tasting flights of beer which comes with 6 local or international beers. Pretty good for $10 bucks. Now to review the food: Caesar salad - came very cold like it was straight from the fridge, there were toasted bread things that tasted stale probably cause they were in the fridge too. Ahi Tuna - this tasted fishy, made me wonder why I ordered from this place. Ahi tuna has to be really fresh! Nachos - this was pretty good but come on, it's not worth $18 bucks! And putting it on a platter which is on a beer keg bottom is clever, makes it look huge when it's isn't. It was a good portion but not worth the price, and comes with a teeny tiny scoop of salsa, if you're gonna charge that much... Fish Tacos - these were pretty good, wished they had some sauce options Chicken Wings - we ordered the Salt and Pepper wings which were pretty good. It came with celery and carrot sticks, but no sauce or dressing for the veggie sticks. Seems like the food is barely OK but they miss the mark so many times. I almost gave a single star but, the place has potential. Even with my posting, they will probably still be packed on the weekends which probably means no one will see my review and adjust the price and food to make it more attraction. Good for the beer selection, the food, meh! and not really worth the wait unless you really need to have such a big beer selection. Too pricey for what you get. read more

What can I say about craft beer market? This is probably the best craft beer bar for people new to craft beer. They have around 140 taps of craft beer with a large majority being of BC origin. They also have brought in beer from the USA and around the world. The real downside of the market is that they have very little in the way of rotating taps which is really what beer nerds want. We do not drink the same beer often as we enjoy the hunt for new and exciting beer. If you want to learn about beer then this is a great place. If you are like me then you have probably tried 90% of the beer on tap here and find it hard to get to excited. For the most part the food is quite good here. They do fish dishes quite well especially Tuna but most of the dishes are worth trying. All the dishes are ocean wise. They have a great mac and cheese. The staff that work here are very cool people so I feel a little bad posting one star but honestly even they know how lame the management is here. Its Super Bowl. Most people are there to watch it there are men/women with Seahawks jerseys all around the place. Management tells the staff they won't turn on the sound of the game. Instead we have to listen to Bryan Adam love ballads. Not kidding. Customers start leaving. By the time the game is about to start there are many seats at the bar vacant. You could walk off the street and get just about any seat as the SB starts. The management decides to turn the sound on for the game after complaints from several customers. To further this we found out staff are not allowed to wear any NFL paraphernalia. Weird. Now the beers are $7 to $11 per so its not like its the cheapest place to get a glass of mothers milk and its not like there is any shortage of places to go for decent draft beer in Van. So then they try cutting out the commercials with music every time the game goes to commercial and what ends up happening is the game comes on and someone forgets to turn the game sound back on. My buddy had enough. We left, told the manager he sucks. Went to Tap and Barrel and saw all the customers that left Craft that day. Not coming back. read more

Craft has a soft spot in my heart. I'm a regular at the Calgary location, so when I found out that Craft was opening here in Vancouver, I was ecstatic. Did it meet my expectations? Heck yes. Lots of beer on tap. Friendly bartenders. Reasonable prices. Hate the long lines? Here's a pro tip. Go straight to the bar. If you're going with 2 or 3 people, the bar is always a good option and you can order food there too. And the service is faster. I had high hopes for Craft Market. I live in the area and the concept is right up my alley; I love beer and fresh local food so you think it would be a slam dunk right? Nope! Lets start with the good: The room is beautiful and spacious, with a great atmosphere. We sat at the bar the bartender was very helpful and the service was spot on. Now the bad: Looking at the beer menu we noticed that a lot of local companies from around BC were not represented. I understand it's hard to get things going, but they have brands like PBR and Budweiser and Bud Light. What kind of craft beer market carries Bud Light? Secondly, the website claims "fresh local food and fresh local beer." However, this is not the case when it comes to the beer. The food was also far from perfect. The blue cheese burger arrived without blue cheese (the guy next to us had the same complaint). The Asian bowl was no better; the chicken breast looked like it was from Costco, not local as advertised. It was very bland, with little or spice. I thought maybe I was being too picky but my girlfriend shared in this opinion. Maybe a red curry powder would add flavour and improve the dish? All in all the 90s called they want there menu back .But strangest thing is how similar the menu looked to Tap and Barrel's (somebody didn't do their homework) right next door ! Now you may think this is harsh but if you are going to charge premium prices you better have a premium product. I'm going to give this place another try in a couple months as it's only fair, but wow ! Not a good first impression. If you want a true local food and craft beer experience, try the Alibi Room or ST Augustine's. THIS IS VANCOUVER YOU CAN'T GET AWAY WITH THIS SUB-PAR DINING EXPERIENCE. So good to have a local with over 100 beers on tap. I don't think it's fair to complain about the long wait times, this place has just opened and everybody wants to check it out. Once you're inside the atmosphere is great, it's spacious and despite being insanely busy it's easy enough to talk to your friends at the table. Service was very fast and very frequent. Obviously the beer menu speaks for itself. We shared a poutine and a flatbread pizza ... good pub food. Will definitely be back on a Tuesday for the fish taco special. read more

First response: Whoa, this place is huge! Ending evening response: Yow, that was pricey! After reading a few reviews on Yelp I was prepared for a long wait. I don't know if it was just because there was two of us, or because we were willing to sit at the bar, but the wait time was less than ten mins. to sit at the bar. Walking past the tap room I stopped to take a pic. I was pleasantly offered a tour of the tap room. That was a surprise. We sat at one end of the bar, a huge oval loop that showcases the over 100 beers on tap! What! Over 100 beers on tap! I was very happy. On the black board they have their drink special listed, this night it was a local BC beer! Drink up! We did notice that only guys were located behind the bar, while all the women were allocated to working the tables. Kinda weird. The food is was delivered in giant size portions, seriously huge; my burger was wearing a burger top hat. Wow, I thought Americans ate a lot! And the nachos, as you might have heard are just colossal, aka stupid big. In the future I will order to share. read more

CRAFT - Tap room. - Beer Bar Near Me - Vancouver, British Columbia

Yes, there is a lot of hype around Craft. Yes, the line ups (even on weeknights) can me a bit ridiculous. But guess what? It's worth it. There is a really great vibe at Craft that makes it a great place to come for drinks, eats, and stay as long as you want for good company. 100 beers on tap...impressive! Something different for Vancouver, that's for sure. The food is actually quite good and averagely priced. Each day there is a daily special which really is 'special' - $2 Fish Tacos? Yes please! Service each time I've been is very good and attentive. It can get a bit hairy with such a big venue and especially with it always being packed - but I've always gotten really friendly service. Not to mention that they know their beers! Can't wait for summertime in the Village...it's going to be a happening place in the neighborhood! read more

[The Beer Barn] If you're at all interested in Beer, this place will rock your socks! Craft beer market has been on my radar for a while and finally had an excuse to drop by Sunday afternoon. From the outside, one would expect cows and horses inside this big red barn but as you enter, there's a magnificent display of their countless kegs in a large, glassy tap room. Old McDonald would be proud. There's a wonderful vibrant atmosphere inside a cavernous dining hall with seating for at least 200 people. They've recently opened up their patio which has maybe 15 tables and a separate wait list. Once seated, I spent a good 20 minutes perusing their extensive beer menu - I've never seen anything like it. Over 100 beers were sorted by type and all on tap! I was a kid in a candy store. I couldn't decide on a single beer so I decided on a seasonal 6-pack sampler beautifully presented on a Craft-branded paddle. (I suppose I could've gotten a few different pints but I was driving and was still feeling gross from the night before.) The first four were local ales and pilsners - all were excellent and refreshing. The last two were IPAs which I'm not a huge fan of but I guess that's the price of indecisiveness. For food, I ordered the butternut squash ravioli. The squash filling was creamy and smooth and the ravioli itself was fresh and soft. It was topped with chips and sprouts and served with a side of toasted foccacia. Delish! With such a big focus on beer, I didn't expect the food to be half as good. Looking around the table, I managed to sample the crab cake sliders and the Craft mac and cheese - both of which were very tasty. Given the quality and selection of the food and beer, their prices are reasonable ranging from $6 to $10 per pint and $15 to $20 per entree. The service here is also amazing - servers were friendly and attentive. The friend who ordered the Mac and Cheese didn't realize there was bacon in it and they gladly replaced it with a new one at no additional cost. They were quick to get our beers and always kept our water glasses full. Customer service superstars! As a picky beer drinker, if I died and went to heaven, Craft Beer Market is where I'd end up. Whether you're a beer snob or one of those "sip and complain how beer tastes bad" drinkers, this place has something for you. Their selection is the main attraction and puts most liquor stores to shame. It also doesn't hurt that they have decent food as well so do yourself a favour and check it out - just make sure you have a reservation if you don't like waiting. read more

Came here on a Saturday night with large group. The space is really pretty amazing and the beer selection extensive. It is padded with some decidedly non-craft beer (um, PBR is considered craft beer) and, in my opinion most of them were a little overpriced (again, $6.25 for a pint of PBR? Seriously?). The menu is pretty nice, but a little pricey again, tho not bad for the area. Service was mediocre, and quite slow. There seemed to be enough support staff but they would benefit with the addition of additional servers. I may be back, but only for another large outing, can't really justify the price. read more

Made an online order food was extremely cold and I live across the street bun was soggy

Beer: First things first. The beer list is great. They claim 100+ beer listed. There really is something for everyone. From IPAs to ales to lagers to stouts to fruity, and even gluten-free options. If you like beer, you WILL like something here. Some of the list is a bit safe, and some are downright yawners. Bud Light? Like I said, something for everyone. The list hasn't changed at all since the first time I visited, so I'm assuming it's not intended to be rotational style like some of the craft houses in town. Food: The menu is good. (The Philips Blue Buck 1/2 chicken is a must). A-bit-better-than-regular-pub-food type fare. A little pricey. Nothing too special. Why did you come here again? Service: Five stars for service. The servers do a great job of taking care of any size group of indecisive beer drinkers with style. They are always friendly and patient. Price: Here's where I'd decline an offer to be a more frequent visitor. I only tend to visit here on a Tuesday, when the $2-off all beer special makes the individual beer prices a bit more tolerable. Most of the beer ranges from $6.75 to $9ish. read more

My first visit to this place and all I can say about the experience is, mediocre. Don't get me wrong here, I love beer and anything associated with it but it is definitely not worth the hour wait. The decor is beautiful with the kegs used as space dividers, high ceilings and the exposed tap lines running above you. With all this it is very cold inside especially the seats along the hallway where the entrance is, could definitely feel the cold draft coming in every time the door opens. The staff was very nice and can't complain about the beer selection. Only thing I tried on the menu so far was the fish tacos which is only $2.75 on Tuesdays which was rather tasty but doesn't come close to La Taqueria's tacos! The food selection looks decent with locally sourced and ocean wise ingredients. After reading all this you ask why I gave it 3 stars? Number one, the wait! Yes it just opened and it's the new big thing but it's just like any other pubs/ chain restaurants albeit the beer selection! Number two, overpriced! $6.75 to $9.05 for some that weren't even full pints! Yes, most European beers come with their own fancy glasses and yes most of them aren't full pints but the pricing of it just doesn't justify it. However, I cannot complain about the pricing of the food, because it is locally sourced, which in turn helps out local farmers. Me being a little bit environmentally conscious I am willing to pay a little extra for the minimal carbon footprint rather than pay couple dollars less for something flown in from say, Mexico. Number three, the ambiance. The place is huge with lots of seating but not very intimate like St. Augustines (my favourite craft beer joint). It feels cold, this time metaphorically speaking. It doesn't have that homey feel to it. I would come again if friends wanted to go but I think I will stick to St. Augustines. And this is my 2 cents. read more

I'm always a big supporter of repurposing heritage buildings and the old brick and wood warehouse on 1st Avenue (not far from the seawall on False Creek) was long overdue for a new business to call it home. Craft seemed like a great idea in theory, they were ahead of the curve in the recent micro-brewery explosion. And as noted, great heritage building in a new up and coming area. The execution has fallen short though. But first what's good. The building was very nicely restored (I keep going on about it but guess it is the highlight). And there are a wide selection of beers on tap, and for that matter a decent wine list. What doesn't work. Well it's a huge space yet moving about it with drink is verboten (I thought we were getting past our grade school oriented liquor laws?) This can get annoying: Having a beer with a friend at their lovely long bar, but then a few more people show up and you want a table, no dice. Sitting upstairs at a table and spy some friends at the busy bar and want to join them - heaven forbid! We can't have that sort of heathen lawlessness, this is Vancouver, where we put the P in prim! A large space like Craft really exacerbates the 'must remain glued to your seats at all times' liquor policy and it doesn't help that their staff are a tad too dogmatic about enforcing even the tiniest transgression. Furthermore it would help if their staff were that enthusiastic about serving you. The service, sadly, is yet another example of the usual Vancouver indifference. Then there's the food. Here's what I imagine they did. 'Say guys what sort of menu should we have?' 'You know the usual mish mash of stuff that appeals to the widest possible demographic, chicken wings, something asian, some seafood, a steak and a bunch of salads, maybe one with Kale, apparently that's big right now.' Then they hired do-it-by-the-numbers cooks (probably from Cactus Club) and you get what you would expect, bland uninteresting and over-priced food. I like a good craft beer and I like beautifully restored heritage spaces, so really if I can just get a table with a view of the seawall or a stool at the bar i don't mind picking through a few chickens wings whilst I savour a cold one. But I don't like being scolded for being out of my seat by a waitress who takes 20 minutes to deliver a plate of luke warm chicken wings. read more

I've been twice now, with the same group of people both times. Service is good and knowledgable in terms of beer. Yet both times we were informed that "somehow the kitchen missed your order but it'll be right up". The food I had both times was good (a pizza and a salad) but it is pub food. It's always busy, but I think some of that is the novelty and newness of the place. Plus in that area there are no other dining choices other and Tap & Barrel, and if it's not sunny, why go there? read more

OMG I am SO in love!!! Came here opening weekend and stayed until closing (got there at 730). That's how good it was! I was here for a gala once at the Salt building before they turned it into Craft and I am so amazed by how gorgeous they turned it into. Service was great and VERY speedy (only had to wait 15 minutes max for food each time) which blew me away because it was opening weekend and apparently..this place can seat 400 people! 2 of my gfs and I were hungry so we ordered nachos to share (HUGE) and I ordered the Yucatan salad (GINORMOUS). It was delicious and very very generous with the portion size. Price was very affordable for what they give you in my opinion. Now as for the beer, I'm not a beer drinker..at all! But I was really surprised by the choices and there is something for everybody (including me!). I can't say enough great things about Craft and I hope they keep up the service and delicious food! read more

Booked a reservation two weeks in advanced and it was over 30 minutes of waiting after to be seated. Place seemed understaffed. The soup was bad and for $6.50 definitely not worth it. The tuna poke type dish was ok but lacked some flavor like lime or a dressing etc. The bill took over thirty minutes to get! We had to ask twice for it too. They charge 18% gratuity for large groups so they probably don't care if it's terrible service. My friend got a parking ticket thanks to the bill taking so long! We almost walked out without paying but since I've work in the industry I didn't but this was all so so bad. read more

Great place for a large group. Beer selection is good and trendily. Food is better than the corporate chains. read more
