I would strongly advise people to stay away from Crafton Heating and Cooling. I spent over $6,000 with this company for a new heating system that was still under warranty when my heat stopped working during freezing winter weather. After several nights without heat, a technician finally came out and diagnosed that two of the heating elements were not turning on. Instead of properly fixing the issue, he bypassed wires to the motor and charged me around $200. As soon as he left, my circuit breaker started tripping repeatedly. When I called them back, instead of correcting the wiring they recommended that I upgrade my breaker to a higher amp. I never had breaker issues before their technician modified the system. Because I still had no heat, I had to buy space heaters just to keep my small home warm, which caused my electric bill to jump to $776. I tried multiple times to speak with a supervisor named Jim, but every time I called I was told he was not available and would call back. Weeks later, I still never received a call. I finally had to hire another HVAC company to fix the problem, and they were shocked by how the system had been wired. If this is how they treat a customer who spent thousands of dollars on a system that was still under warranty, I cannot recommend them to anyone. read more

I worked with this company to install mini splits in my full home. It was really a pleasure and would highly recommend. I have never installed these in a home; and Jim answered all my questions, and I had quite a few. They were installed quickly and the employees installing were exceptionally respectful especially when I was working from home. It took about 3 days and very happy with the product. read more

I cannot express how thankful I am to them. There was a problem with my AC unit not turning off although I had turned it off with my thermostat so it was driving my electricity bill high. The pipes around the AC were frozen inside and out. As I was freaking out about the cost of the electric bill and the cost of getting this repaired, I was finally able to turn it off through the breaker and was hoping to get an appointment ASAP as we are in the middle of summer and temperatures were going to rise in the next few days. My friend had recommended them so I called them in the morning and they sent someone over in a few hours. Tom was really nice and friendly. He was able to identify the problem and fix it within an hour. They do charge $84 for diagnostic in addition to repairs but it didn't cost me an arm and a leg to fix the problem. Kudos to a company that helped me out of a dire situation. I recently suffered the loss of my air conditioning in my heat pump due to a power hit. I had a bad repair experience with a competitor who had recently serviced it. I then called Craft heating and met with them. Although they recommended total replacement they made sure that I would get only what I needed and not try to oversell. The team is professional and I got my new unit installed within a 2 day time frame. Their workers are bonded and insured and none of my other electrical devices were affected while the work was taking place. Everything is working perfectly again! They do stand by their work. This is my first Trane unit and I know I will be very happy with the new equipment. Credit cards are accepted and they do offer special financing arrangements. Furnace went out the other day. I'm very into DIY fixes and through my own diagnosis, i found the issue was a cracked ignitor. To my chagrin, big box stores do not carry these so I had to call a pro. I called Craft and they had a tech come over within two hours. The gentleman was very nice. I showed him the issue, and he replaced the part within 10 minutes, which fixed the furnace. The total cost was around $200. Keep in mind you can buy this replacement part for $40-50 online.... but thats if you want to wait 4 days to have it shipped to your home. All in all, I guess its a decent price if you don't know how to fix a furnace yourself or you need it done quicker. The repair man seemed knowledgable- I would call Craft again in the future for a more complicated fix. read more

Once again, Craft Heating and Cooling came through for us in a big way! Our ancient AC unit was hit with a couple really nasty power surges which tripped circuit breakers and shut it down for the night. As an older couple with heart issues, the AC is a necessity. One phone call and Rick, who came through for us before, had us on his schedule the very same day we called. He even arrived early. No more than 30 minutes later, the AC was humming along and cooling a hot, humid house. There is none better in Pittsburgh for quality, response and price. I have use Craft Heating and Cooling to install a new heat,air and home filtering system. Excellent service and installation. After about 5 years i had the need for a service on my heater, prompt service call, quickly located the problem and repaired it. Initial charge was several hundred dollars, the next day they called back and told me that some of the parts were still under warranty and reduced my charge by approximately $250.00. Because of this experience I urged my church to consider them when we need new air condition and a new heater. They were exceptionally fair and professional.
