This place is the real deal. Great food and great service! We ordered fried shrimp and gator. The shrimp was some of the best I've ever had. The littles that they serve family style include greens, white beans and cornbread. Yummy! Add some of their homemade pepper vinegar and Tabasco sauce and you don't need anything else. They also make their tarter sauce and cocktail sauce. They were both amazing! It's the little things here. They go above and beyond. Do yourself a big favor and go eat here! This spot has TERRIBLE customer service. We ordered online and when our delivery driver arrived to pick up, the server said "why would I pack up an order and they get all the tip" referring to the driver. This is completely unacceptable and I am disgusted by our treatment. We called the restaurant and the server told me "we don't have online orders" and that she couldn't be bothered to pack up the order for us. We live out of state and wanted a real taste of authentic Florida bbq and have been to Crackling Jacks before but will NEVER go again and will tell people that the service is so poor that they should never go there. That waitress is lazy and rude and hung up on me while I was calling. It was our first visit there and we won;t be rushing back. If we had been told the wait would be that long we wouldn't have eaten there. I may even have come back just to enjoy a drink at the outdoor tiki bar because it's a nice atmosphere out there. A hidden gem in Naples, FL! I tried Cracklin' Jack's for the first time while visiting from out of town, and my Aunt suggested it for lunch. She said "Cracklin' Jack's is an experience..." and I was sold. They are so unassuming from the outside - they look like a cozy, quiet, traditional southern spot but it's worth stopping in for! We ventured through the restaurant and onto the back patio which seems to be a best kept secret! They have a very spacious patio in the back with a bar, lots of outdoor seating, fun decor, and it feels tucked away - like you want to keep this place a secret for yourself and your closest friends! Our server was so lovely and fun (I wish I could remember her name!) We came just in time for Happy Hour, beers are $2.50 each! We ordered by the bucket and got two 5-bottle buckets of beer. Can't get a better deal than that. They've got lots of southern/BBQ/comfort food on the menu, and everything was so tasty and well-made! I got the BYO Burger, and I'd like to think of myself as a burger connoisseur - their burger was absolutely delicious! Perfectly cooked, toasty bun, 8oz. Angus beef! I was reading reviews about this place for three years. I wanted to go so bad but never seemed to be able to put it together. I go to the address on Yelp and find out it has moved 3 miles north of where I was. OK. I found the place and it was exactly what I expected. I must warn any person who could not get a hint from the name this is not a vegan, gluten free, self sustaining, place. I had the fried chicken and it was good not great. The price you pay includes the "vittles" which I have spelled victuals my whole life. I am so glad they took the lead in changing a goofy word. My vittles included mashed potatoes, slaw, sliced onion, pickles, collard greens, corn bread, brown gravy and white gravy. All served family style. It is not possible to eat all this food. And Mrs. K. and I did not dent the meal. Way too much unhealthy food and I loved every bite. Oh did I mention corn bread? Oh I did. It was the best corn bread I have ever eaten. Why? So this was our first visit. We had heard lots of people say to try it. We found it to be .....unremarkable. Before the food, a few things....all employees were masked " sit anywhere you'd like" can't control social distancing if that's the policy. Someone needs to use the " Swiffer" more often. The lampshade over our table was pretty dusty/grimy. The Food: my grilled shrimp...tasty. My friend's grouper special was also good. Cooked well without overcooking. Sauce was tasty too. Companion's fried pick two of shrimp and clams was marginal. No real taste/ seasoning in the breading. The shrimp were small compared to my grilled plate. We decided they were more than likely frozen. The Coleslaw was very good.Believe it or not, it's one of the things we judge places on. The Dirty rice was spicy ,as it should be, the rice itself was well cooked. As for the Vittles: The greens were flavorless. Needed more vinegar, some salt and perhaps some red pepper flakes. Or add some smoked meat to the pot. Tomatoes were overly sweetened. Got rid of the acid but became the overpowering taste. The beans had no discernible flavor and the mashed potatoes seemed to be " from a box". Serving family style and never ending is great but those small dishes take up so much space on the table. Perhaps some divided dishes, a lazy Susan type server or a tray placed at the table might help. Will we go back? Probably. Our main entrees were good enough to give it another try. When you think of local and you don't think of this place... well.... you're just wrong. Tucked away off the main road on the west coast, you can find cracklings jacks. Honestly, I'm sure this is a local favorite, And I think I probably just ordered poorly. We had hush puppies, the chowder, and a seafood basket. The hush puppies and soup were really good. The pups came with honey butter, and the chowder wasn't too chunky, massive portion, and wasn't over salted. One of the better NE clam chowders I've had. The platter... was eh. At least for me. I like fried food, but this was over the top for me. We dared for frog legs, and it's totally true. Taste like chicken. But feel like chicken clams... it's weird. The clam strips where tiny, but I also don't have anything to compare to. So maybe they were normal size. What turned me off was the butter they served with the seafood. I had heard good things about their fried chicken when they were at their previous location, so I was looking forward to having lunch there today with my friend. We both are in the hospitality business, so although this may seem harsh, it will be honest. 1st, the building is set back, yet visible from 951. It is a 45MPH speed zone, and the turn onto the leading street (25th SW?) is sharp and sudden, so plan ahead with the turn signal or you will be rearended! It does not appear the interior changed much from when it was Porky's, but I came here to eat, not look at the decor. The waitress arrived quickly and took our order. Although very pleasant, my only recommendation would be to have better menu knowledge and server training. When asked what the sides were (the fried chicken comes with 2) she pointed where they were on the menu. I think saying what they were would have been a better touch, for to ME it made it look like maybe she didn't know what the selections were. I started with a cup of the chicken gumbo. Very tasty, with just the right amount of spiciness. 3.5 out of 5 I ordered the 3 piece fried chicken with fries and slaw. ($11.99) It came with one leg and two breasts. The skin was great 4.5 out of 5, but the meat was very dry 2 out of 5. When I got to the white meat, it was even more dry and I left them on my plate. At the end of service, the waitress asked if I wanted to take them home. NOT THAT I WANTED THEM TAKEN OFF THE BILL, but when she didn't ask why I was leaving so much food on my plate, it didn't offer an opportunity to comment on my opinion of the food. started off craving jollibees, settled on KFC but decided on this place because who really wants to eat KFC? I just wanted some ~good~fried chicken and this place provided. The chicken portions were big (yay!) and the the breading was perfect. my cravings were met. The vibe was like a Cracker Barrel in Louisiana.The service was not :) we were seated fast and had a nice waitress. The Root Beer just hits different here idk why it was exceptionally delicious. 4 stars? Because "the fixings" were not phenomenal. My wife had fried oysters, she was not overly impressed as they had too much batter. I had the fried scallops over dirty rice. Scallops were over cooked, so that was a disappointment. Dirty rice was average at best. Our meal was served with corn bread muffins and a dark muffins that I liked but couldn't tell what they were made of. Corn bread muffins were very good as well. We also got a white gravy and a dark brown gravy, both average in taste. Stopped off here for lunch on the way up to Sarasota when pulling off of 75. The place positions itself as a seafood shack kind of joint but when I went in there a lot of folks were eating fried chicken and burgers and salads which looked pretty good. I decided to try the fried oysters and ordered a cup of gumbo with it and substituted a salad for fries and slaw. Gumbo was good, should probably have gotten a bowl of that and a salad and I would have been happy. The oysters themselves were not the freshest specimens I've ever had but they weren't bad per se, just a bit funkier than I normally like. Salad was well put together with fresh greens, bacon, chopped egg and cheese. I probably would give this place another chance but go for something more meat based or stuff that is locally caught like catfish. Perhaps their BBQ. Really liked the hush puppies too. read more

Playing tourist, during a road trip, I was looking to try alligator for the first time. Pulled into this restaurant and ordered a combo plate with fried gator, frog, and oysters. Almost all new to me, besides the oysters. Then, to my surprise the waitress arrived to the table with small bowls filled with a variety of foods! "Vittles" they are called. It was like Thanksgiving! Mashed potatoes, brown gravy, coleslaw, white beans, stuffing, onions, pickles, collard greens, etc. They apparently come with all the meals! Wish we'd realized this, my lone companion and I would have simply split one entree instead of ordering two (we had both ordered the same combo plate). I enjoyed the frog meat which was almost airy, super delicate and tender. The oysters also tasted fresh and were perfectly sized with just a hint of yummy oyster brine. The coating (or breading) on everything was light with a nice crunch. I didn't like the gator unfortunately! Too tough and chewy, but I suppose it's one of those local things you either love or hate.
