Stopped in for a quick lunch last Monday after the beach. The location on Indian Rocks Beach is great, and I hadn't been to Crabby Bill's in years. It wasn't busy while I was there, which I prefer. Doug was my server, and he was fantastic. He checked on me often and made the experience even better with friendly conversation. The snow crab legs were delicious as always. The snow crab was excellent, the Oysters Rockefeller were on point, and the corn crab dip was a great addition to the appetizer menu. The blue crab claws were also a solid choice. The calamari was good, and the crab cakes definitely held their own. My only complaint is the sides. It feels like they need more options, or at least let us order the corn, potatoes, and sausage separately as sides. Also, a strange but important observation: the fries that come with the appetizer are somehow better than the fries that come as a side. I don't know how that's possible, but someone in the kitchen is clearly playing favorites. Service was good overall. Our waitress was attentive, but she had that "mom/grandma who's tired of your nonsense" energy. Not rude -- just very direct. You knew where you stood, and honestly, there's something refreshing about that. Overall, good food, good experience, and if you're looking for crab, it's definitely worth the stop. Just be prepared to eat what you're given and not argue with Grandma. read more

This place is busy!! It's fun and crowded with a Cracker Barrel feeling to it. The AC inside is frigid and I wish I had a jacket. A lot of errors were made throughout the ordeal of ordering our food correctly because when it came I had to send it back. The fish tacos were flounder and not grouper like I wanted. The French fries were cold. Hubby wanted the grouper dinner and got a tiny piece of fish with his plate of fries. Three sets of families came and left by the time our dinner came. I really enjoyed it here. The staff is very friendly and knowledgeable. The place itself is really cute and fits the area perfectly. The crab cakes had clear chunks of fresh crab in them and the remoulade was amazing! Everything was fresh and cooked perfectly. This is such a cute spot across from Indian Rocks Beach. We ducked in to beat the rain and were pleasantly impressed! As we walked in someone who lived locally was walking out said we would not be disappointed and we were not. They have specials in the middle of the afternoon on drinks. I had the catfish plate and honestly it was delicious. I was shocked and also the macaroni and cheese was good which I find is rare at restaurants. It's a casual atmosphere and they even took a photo of our group that we could have purchased. A perfect lunch stop for our beach vacay. Not bad but not amazing either. Drinks were great. Our favs were the Tampa Bay Breeze and the Coconut Lime Mojito. We had the grouper bites for our app and those were amazing. Love the tartar sauce. We had those drinks and app at the bar as we waited for our table. They said it was a 20 min wait but it took a little over 30 which was fine. Ordered the catfish platter and shrimp platter. The fries were mid. Honestly they served the grouper bites with skinny fries that were MUCH better than the regular fries. Catfish was good. Fried shrimp was ok. We did the inside dining. The food took a good while to come out. Our server apologized. They also have a bar and outside food area so my guess is they are making all these things in one kitchen. read more

The food, ambiance, service was all a 10/10 ! Traveling from philadelphia we expected good sized portions and got exactly that and the prices were great as well ! Sandy was our server and she was outstanding! Very pleasant lady and she recommended the king crab as I never had king crab before and gave me tips on eating it . I really wish I could 10stars. This was such a treat! I can have seafood every day. That's how much I love it. And when I have good seafood it's pure joy. Ok let's get to the vibe then I will tell you about what I had. Walked in it was busy and packed in the back with a R&B band playing all the oldies. People were dancing and it was just a great time. I was going back and forth from my table to dance. I don't drink so I always order a virgin mojito. It hit the mark. Ok now what I had. OMG! I ordered the Tybee Island Seafood Feast. It's 1 pound snow crab, u-peel shrimp, mussels, potatoes, corn, sausage, peppers, and onions with Old Bay spice and butter. It's so much, it can feed 4 people. I ate all the shrimp and crab. We stopped here after just arriving in Florida. We had a group of 12 and sat outside. Our waiter was really good, but he was busy, so it did take a while to get drinks. We started with raw oysters which were really good. We all got different things. The lobster roll was great. The catfish was large and good. The seafood boil was good. What used to be a fun place to eat, drink and hang out has changed significantly for the worse. It has now become a place that seeks high dollar for a simple meal with employees that really don't care about their customers. From the minute we walked into the door, the two blonde twins sitting at reception showed they could care less about hosting diners. Additionally, there is a price hike on their meals. With the broiler down for maintenance failure, the meal choices were limited and the waitress hyped up other meals less impressive. No longer a fan after 30+ years... my full support now shifts to PJ's that still thrives and cares for their customers. read more

I'm always a little lerry about ordering Calamari out of the tri state area. Crabby Bills made this dish proper! Overcook the fish and it turns to rubber bands. The calamari rings were tender and was served with spicy marinara dipping sauce. The menu looks crazy! Lots of local fish and oyster choices. For lunch I ordered the Real Grouper Sandwich. The freshest tasting fish, lightly fried and served with LTO. I have a cold beer in my hand and a grouper sandwich for lunch. Heaven! The bare foot guitarist, i'm watching her set up. She's tuning her guitar, doing mic checks and finally, they opened with Yes?! This band was a bluesy-funky bunch and they totally rocked it! This place has a restaurant side, indoor bar and outdoor patio bar. When my husband and I first got there, it was packed! A very nice server leaned over to us and said the tables are first come first serve but there was a table in the back that people were wrapping up at. Once we were sat, even though they were very busy, staff were very attentive! I got the shrimp boil and fried pickles and he got the clam chowder and oysters. Everything was very good. We were referred here from a presentation we went to a few blocks away! The building was nothing fancy, in fact we were afraid they weren't open! We were greeted quickly and helped by Gigi, who offered amazing recommendations and service! I opted for a mocktail mojito which came in the cutest strawberry keepsake cup! We had calamari for an appetizer which was pretty good. I was not super impressed with the octopus looking pieces but the rings were super good and it was sitting on a bed of fries, which we enjoyed! The fries came out Luke warm. Ask for fresh fries, to my surprise the next batch cane out in less than 2 minutes. All they did was put the fries in a microwave and heat them so they would appear to be fresh, but as a seasoned Chef it was easy to tell what happened. First time in Clearwater and this restaurant was recommended, unsure if I will try again. But other than that the staff was 100% professional. I wasn't too impressed the atmosphere was a cool vibe, not alot in the menu my crab legs came out one small batch then another batch server brought me what they had and told me she bring the rest when they was down, the fried pickles was under cooked the crab cake had more filler then crab, (disappointing ) salad my daughter got was lil brown and the dressing g had a let's say unique flavor. It was 5/6 in the afternoon so I don't know what the issues with the food was but the waitress hiked and laughed with us, kept up with our drinks. One issue was the little (well big ) bug walking around one of the booths and I get it it's Florida by the ocean you get those things especially open bar area I didn't see it so can't say what kind it was but enough to make my daughter feel some type of way my crab that came out second order was over cooked and then the cluster end was cold just not a good experience I'm sure this is different for everyone I didn't try opening stone and had a totally different experience so I can't tell you why it was so off but hopefully you have a better experience.. read more

Awesome neighborhood place by the bay with live music and fresh seafood. Two hours of complimentary parking while dining. Staff was super friendly. The oysters and crab were as fresh and delicious as we have had anywhere from Tampa to Miami. Lots of outdoor seating and we were fortunate to snag an outdoor table by the band. The only downside was the slow service, although our server was great. It took a long time for appetizers and drinks to arrive. Overall an excellent place and we will be back. read more

I have been a weekly regular at the original Crabby Bill's in Indian Rocks Beach, but after my experience today, I am seriously reconsidering returning. I came in with my two toddlers (5 and 3) and asked the hostess, Jocelyn, if we could sit at table #2 in the bar area. She told me that was fine. After I got the kids completely unpacked and settled at the table, the vile bartender, Junior (or JR), came over visibly irritated. He aggressively told me we hadn't checked with the host and couldn't sit there. When I explained that Jocelyn had just given us the green light, he literally threw his arms up at me in frustration. I went back to the host stand to clear it up, and Jocelyn simply said she 'misunderstood' me. She offered absolutely zero accommodations or alternatives, and suddenly claimed they were on a wait--even though there was no line out the door, the table had already been bussed, and they had just seated everyone who came in before us with no issue. I felt completely disrespected and humiliated being chased away from a table in front of the whole restaurant with two little kids in tow. To make matters worse, I tried calling the restaurant afterward to speak with management about the incident. Whoever answered refused to forward my call or respond, and the line simply went dead. Treating a loyal, local customer and a parent with young kids this way is entirely unacceptable. read more

And our server was not friendly at all, and a little gruff. The food was ok but not as amazing as the prices would reflect. We came here for dinner while visiting Indian Rocks beach through the week. Then wait was a little over an hour, which I find is typical this time of year in beach towns for seafood. We were sat at a table for 6 with an extra chair on the end. We were a part of 7. After waiting an hour, that irks me. Not to enough to wait longer though. The service was excellent. Our waitress was attentive and did an exceptional job of keeping my AYCE crab legs coming. The food was ok. Nothing to write home about.
